Ceej should just set up a schedule for the next couple of years and
stick to it, so that there's no delays or anything. Have a mini contest
April 1st or May 1st and then alternate Character and Games Contests in
the summer* with their starting dates on July 1st. Here's a mock schedule: Summer 2007: Games Contest II Fall/Winter 2007: Quotes Contest (I think this would work best in the Top 100 games format.) Spring 2008: Newbie Contest Summer 2008: Character Contest VI Spring 2009: Company Contest Summer 2009: Games Contest III Spring 2010: System Contest Summer 2010: Character Contest VII Spring 2011: Female Character Redux (There were a lot of bad choices in the Female half this year) Summer 2011: Character Contest VIII 2012: Ten-Year Anniversary. Either a Character and Games contest back to back, or a 128 Character Contest. *After a little bit of this, the Games Contests would probably get less frequent, since I imagine Games are less variable than characters, so after all the good games make their debuts it wouldn't be as unexpected. --- Rufus Shinra 18 totally owned me in the July 2006 Guru Contest Better late than never. |

Having a games contest every year would be better than a character
contest every year. We actually get fresh blood constantly, that could

True, yet at the same time it feels like characters would vary more
year to year than games...but that's nothing but speculation, and I'd

Just for fun, I took eight characters that many of us have debated over
before and I felt were close, and asked the people over on Rad Action
Pack to help rank them...from there, I treated their rankings as
seeding and got this division: 1) Donkey Kong 8) Diablo 4) Alucard 5) Midna 3) Balthier 6) Mewtwo 2) Tidus 7) Princess Peach Now, after that, I made a topic here asking for people to do the division...as well as PotD, CE, and RI (referred to as "Others"). After afew hours of the topics being up (and I won't update again), I tallied up BOP-style and marked some percentages. Do yo have combined percentages between all the boards? I think that
would be pretty helpful to see (since you don't state how many voters
there were, but it looks like "others" had between 7 and 9 depending on

I can make 'em in afew minutes, sure. I'll update it with the few new
voters since then and I'll take out one of the two times myself, BT,
and Gadds counted (since the three of us both ranked on RAP and voted

Thanks! One thing I find interesting there is the huge difference between b8 and the other boards on Balthier. Mewtwo was overwhelmingly favored on the other boards, while Balthier was a 60% favorite on board 8 and a 70% favorite on rad action pack. Is this one of those cases of us being way smarter than the casuals or way dumber? Balthier has been hyped a ton on this board, but in general it doesn't seem like FF XII made a huge impression... I certainly seem to hear people talking about other games a lot more, whether KH2, TP, GoW2, or whatever. I could see him being the latest board creation. --- ....TCELES B HSUP |

My guess on the matter is that either other people think more highly of
Mewtwo than we think, or that other people think both would be busts
(only one person from the others has either of them getting to the
division final). It's hard to say since it's predictions instead of
favoritism, but it's certainly interesting to skim over, but that
difference made me pause when I caught it. Also, if you guys want to count it, I had a friend over who I offered a chance to predict -- he hasn't really gamed since the N64 died and he's never come to GameFAQs. He also had to ask who Tidus was, where I told him he was a lead character from FFX. That said, here was his predictions: Diablo > DK Alucard > Midna Mewtwo > Balthier Tidus > Peach (unprovoked, he kinda spazzed out here saying "Seriously, the princess isn't ****!" and somesuch) Alucard > Diablo Tidus > Mewtwo Alucard > Tidus --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. Yeah, I noticed that. Tidus/Peach is set up in your divisional
eight-pack, and then there's a potential second round match with Yuna
ahead. Interesting to see where the SFF goes, if there is any. Last
year indicates that Tidus should probably lose that match, but who

Some other potential matchups there I like: Leon/Yoshi - He got 45% on Bowser, and Yoshi SHOULD be weaker. How close can Leon get? Luigi/Aeris - Weegi did very well against Tifa. Could he actually beat Aeris? Chun-Li/Kairi - Something about this matchup just seems interesting. Master Chief/Lara Croft - Heh, this is like MC/Crash, part two. "Which one do I anti-vote?!" Bowser/Sora - Sora got nearly 46% on Mega Man while Bowser got 42% on Crono, and yet I feel like most people would side with the Koopa King. Sonic/Zelda in the Elite Eight - The stats actually have Zelda above Sonic. Was there a fluke in Zelda/Samus, Snake/Samus, or Snake/Sonic somewhere? --- "I'm only here to see how the story plays out.
