I'm facetious though! Minesweeper would be a fun 8-seed at best. Still though, a 16/32-bracket of PC games would be pretty fun I think. --- Damn, most of my dates involve mocking and/or beating up people like you and your bride-to-be, so I really have no advice --Horatio |

I hope it's at least one of the debated Melee characters, like Marth or
somebody. If it's one we've already seen and expect in, I hope they're
revamped so we have something more to be excited for. I'm expecting a new Nintendo character or two myself, as well as another expected Nintendo character or two. Not really betting on a third-party one yet, but I think they'll have Sonic announced at some point. --- Damn, most of my dates involve mocking and/or beating up people like you and your bride-to-be, so I really have no advice --Horatio |

Sonic would almost certainly steal most of SC2's hype, ha. I wanna see Ridley in too, though we're already gettin' several floating characters (Kirby, Meta-Knight, Pit, maybe Jiggly again, and maybe more)...they're cool, but I wonder how many Nintendo really wants. --- Damn, most of my dates involve mocking and/or beating up people like you and your bride-to-be, so I really have no advice --Horatio |
PortugalTheMann | Posted 5/20/2007 5:12:02 PM | message detail |
I don't think SC2 would be the most anticipated game, not even by all
that close of a margin... granted it did pretty well in the games
contest, but that was with massive rallying and probably cheating, it
just seems like far more of a board favorite game rather than a site
wide one.... both rts' and pc games are very niche genre's, i really
dont think there's enough people to do that well in a poll. granted its
a very concentrated group, and it would probably get nearly 100% of
those anticipating it, to have it as the most anticipated, but even
then i dont think its a large enough group --- Explicit Content. V-Tokens: 847 |

From H__RR____H Posted 5/19/2007 9:41:32 PM #050 I also just got to thinking...is it just me, or would a 16/32-bracket of just PC games be hectic? A SC/D2 match would be highly anticipated for a final (and imagine the rallying), we never got a real fair look for HL1 and HL2 could be bigger, WoW and WC3 would get people scared, then there would be some solid midcarders (given the context of the bracket) like the Quake and Doom series, Counterstrike, and more...plus, there's the epic powerhouse that is Minesweeper. Minesweeper, dammit!!! Not to mention Halo. o.O ~~~ Ashe. The Cream of Final Fantasy Fanboyism. http://www.board8wiki.com/Lady_Ashe |

I would think PC-originals only for such a bracket would be best. I

Supposedly, the official SSBB site launches today, so we'll see if there's some big announcement made along with it. --- "I'm only here to see how the story plays out. Any self-respecting leading man would do the same." - Balthier |
transience | Posted 5/21/2007 11:45:57 AM | message detail |
"big" would involve a new character being announced.. nothing else can
really happen at this point unless they announce another third party
guy, and even then it'll be a fraction of the shock as it was the first
time around. so yeah, can't say I'm too excited. the SC2 announcement
is far, far bigger. --- xyzzy |
ChichiriMuyo | Posted 5/21/2007 11:47:47 AM | message detail |
Why was the SC2 announcement a big deal when anyone who could add it up
was telling you 2 + 2 = 4? There was no shock to it whatsoever, at
least SSBB can surprise. --- Once I was human. Now I am far more. |

I didn't think Blizzard would ever make a true sequel to Starcraft,
myself -- I figured they were gonna announce D3. The sequel to one of
the most popular games in PC-history is gonna make a splash, especially
when it's still as big as it is this many years later (how many has it
been? I wanna guess eight or so.....). Anyway, I'm HYPED about the SSBB announcement today, whatever it is. Honestly, even if they "disappointed" and didn't announce any new characters at all, I would still be awe-inspired to just see a new video of the game in action. As much as I love the fact that Solid's gonna be in SSBB, I don't
really want the MGS series (or other series) cramming in multiple
characters; maybe two from each series, and that be it. That said, Grey Fox or Volgin would be great to see in if there had to be more MGS characters. --- This is my main account, but I see all the cool people doing it...... HaRRicH |

Nothing to write home about? Take a look at that spoiler-filled
musicians roster! The artists behind the music for the following games
are contributing to the Brawl soundtrack: Metal Gear Solid 4 (of course) Devil May Cry Golden Sun Metroid Prime NiGHTS Into Dreams... Chrono Trigger Kingdom Hearts(!) Fire Emblem Some kind of NiGHTS crossover in anticipation of the new Wii game is as good as confirmed with that info, IMO (though it's most likely just a few items, or a stage design). Chrono being there is interesting, but the real eyebrow raising name to me is Yoko Shimomura of the KH series... can you imagine the crossover potential there? Yikes! Kairi: 10%, KH fans are strange, so you can't count Kairi out. But hopefully we won't see her again. Princess Peach 0%. She only made it in thanks to the girl bracket, how she could win two matches is beyond me, but she will NEVER be in any other character contest. Aeris Gainsborough 25% She needed the female bracket and didn't live up to her previous performances. I doubt she will return. Chun-Li 30%, because I'm going to nominate her. Lara Croft 4% Nope. Tidus: 100% He made it in the 32 male bracket. He's a FF main character, he ain't going anywhere. Gordon Freeman: 75% The curse is broken, but Gordon didn't need that right? I think he's still safe. The Prince of Persia 40% I dunno, maybe. Zero 60%, he got in 32 male bracket last year, I doubt we have seen the last of him. Captain Falcon 20%: Falcon needed a rally to get in, and when he got in he got crushed. The FALCON PUNCH!!! fad is the only thing that can save him. Leon Kennedy 90% He's in the two games which many consider to be the best in that series, he got a place in the male bracket, he's not going anywhere. Alucard 90%: What I said about Leon and add the plan. Alucard isn't going anywhere. Sub-Zero 30%: His upset might give him another chance, but I hope that we have seen the last of the Mortal Kombat characters. Donkey Kong: 100% The choke master, but another female bracket is the only thing that could stop him. Fox McCloud: 50% SSBB might give him another chance. Knuckles the Echidna 200% This guy could win over almost every character in the female bracket, and over a lot of characters in the male bracket. How the hell didn't he make it last year? Pac-Man 60%: It's Pac-Man, he's always full of surprises. Magus 200% What I said about Knuckles Ness 90% The only thing that can stop him is if he isn't a playable character in SSBB, and I doubt that would stop him. Wario 80% As a character who is a newcomer in SSBB, I think Wario has a good chance, but he still would lose to Shadow. Shadow the Hedgehog 50% The reason why Shadow did so good on Mario back in 2003 was because he's only game was SA2, and that's the only game where he wasn't lame. Myabe Shadow will return. Kefka 95% It's hard to see why Kefka wouldn't make it. Raiden 40%: I don't think Raiden will return, which is a shame. I really want to see him in a match against anyone but Solid Snake. Vyse 70%: Skies of Arcadia isn't getting any younger, but I still think he could be in the top 64 of the most nominated character. Tommy Vercetti 60%: I have no idea if the GTA fans still like TV over all the other GTA characters. Frog 30%: I didn't expect to see him back in 2005 (And I was one of those who had him over Solid Snake in 2004) and I don't see coming back after what he did to Riku. Liquid Snake 20% Poor Liquid, everyone thought you was as strong as Ganondorf, Magus, Bowser, and Masterchief. Now the MGS fans rather see that lamer Ocelot, even if Liquid is a zillion times cooler. Vivi Orunitia: 80% Come on! It's Vivi! Miles "Tails" Prower 50%: He or Shadow is the third most popular Sonic character, I'm sure one of them can return. Carl Johnson 20%. If Tommy Vercetti chances aren't that good, then CJ's is much lower. Diablos 65% As the only PC character who is known for his upsets instead for his losses, Diablo might return. Revolver Ocelot 30%: He lost to Pac-Man, even if he had a 2nd seed. MGS 3 isn't a new game anymore and isn't he to old to appear in MGS4? I can't see the Revolver coming back. (Not that he deserves it, since the old fart couldn't even make 60% of the voters to vote for him over the worst character of all time, Nemesis.) --- My Emperor, I failed you!!! |

Is it just me, or is it odd for one of the biggest games to come out in
a long time have so much of its early hype be around its music? It's awesome, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I've ever known another time where such an important game's hype focused on its composers as much as SSBB has. It's one thing for games like Guitar Hero to do this, but for a fighting game? I guess since its gameplay has been loved for so long and Solid Snake is carrying its hype so much, Nintendo can afford to give extra importance to this gaming aspect that so many people overlook (including myself lots of times). It'll also give us chances to "experience" the game more before its release, too..... --- This is my main account, but I see all the cool people doing it...... HaRRicH |
