Actually, there were Blu-Ray players in Japan in 2003 if you can believe it. The first US Blu-Ray players weren't launched until early 2006 however.

The fact that Sonic is in that game with Mario increases his chances of being in Brawl, in which case you can make him a LOCK to beat, uhhh....Crono and Mega Man in rematches! Okay, so he doesn't beat anyone NEW this way, but he saves himself the shame of possibly losing to Ganondorf.

I'm gonna guess all entrants Jay Solano and Midgar Zolom.

Or maybe Ceej pulled a fast one, and those were actually nominations for a games contest and the games that got the most quotes nominated get in.

lol crazy theories.

Rikku's not even worth 46% on Luigi, so Zero.

She's worth 45% on Ryu. I don't know why she couldn't be worth 46% on Luigi. It's not inconceivable.

HaRRicH | Posted 3/31/2007 9:15:41 AM | message detail
Yeah, considering she got 45% on Ryu and we saw the jumps made by Auron (albeit due to KH2) and Yuna last year, her getting 46% on Luigi is plenty possible.

Given how close Rikku/Zero are by those stats, I'd give the edge to Rikku due to Square and the Mega Man series not impressing so much lately...but there's two things you may want to keep in mind. One, Samus/Solid: we know the theory that may make the men under-rated. Two, the Cloud/Tifa/Vyse line of thought: we saw both Mario/Zero (where I think everybody agrees there was no SFF now) and Luigi/Zero (where Zero lost harder than most people expected)...there may be an anomaly there -- it's certainly possible, at least...

...Rikku/Zero could actually be a real good match next year.

If that's based on 2k6, I'd say Rikku has 0% chance against Zero. The female bracket makes less sense than the villians' contest and 2k2 COMBINED!

HaRRicH | Posted 3/31/2007 9:29:59 AM | message detail
Okay, ignore the female side this past year; just plug in what Rikku got against Ryu in 2k5 (which is 44.28%, not 45%) to where Ryu was at this year, and Rikku lands at 31.13% in the unadjusted stats...which is just above her unadjusted value of 31%.

If there's an issue with the stats, it's going to be with Zero instead of Rikku.

If that's based on 2k6, I'd say Rikku has 0% chance against Zero. The female bracket makes less sense than the villians' contest and 2k2 COMBINED!

The only thing about the female bracket that I remember being particularly nonsensical was Tifa's ridiculous overperformance on Samus. Everything else was rather tame.

Yuna's run (obliterating everything in her path far more than expected, matching Aeris on Zelda) was pretty nutty. A lot of female characters got killed a lot worse than expected, too.

In any case, we all know the men are underrated compared to the women. Zero vs Rikku isn't even a match, you're all being paranoid... y'know, unless you wanna take that awesome Yuna > Ganondorf upset!!!
