Actually, I don't know why I'd nominate Knuckles and Magus... they were only snubbed because of the of the reduced male field. Maybe I'd do Shadow the Hedgehog and Tails, instead.

Meh, God of War with 40-odd% is to be expected, but GO WARIO!

And on a completely unrelated side note, Wario will be rocking faces in the Character Contest 2k7!

Also, Sonic is going to keep moving up in the world, what with a brand new game on each next gen system, two of which are hurting for games. Sonic is still an icon, obviously, so some people may be willing to take a chance to buy it just because they want a new game to play.

I tell you what, they make it hard for me to be conservative with Sonic the Hedgehog. One of these days, I'll have his path entirely correct!

...Because he's beating Samus this year!

Just want to confirm once again, since many people appear not to have seen it yet, that you owe Rufus one of the following nominations:

If our next Contest is a Character Battle:
Wario

If our next Contest is a Game Contest:
The Secret of Monkey Island

If we get Games this Spring/early Summer, the Guru champ there will decide your Character slot.

As for the poll today, I don't think people quite realise just how much Europe still laps up the Playstation label. As depressing as it might seem considering the crap that keeps getting dumped on us by Sony, I'm fairly sure it'll do just as well as the Wii, particularly in the UK.

Yeah... the poll voters today aren't very intelligent. Even though Sony continually shoves a broom up Europe's ass, it'll still be a successful launch. Even if there are people who are tired of their crap, there are definitely going to be enough hardcore people left to sell out what gets to the stores.

I have been wondering about this, but would the FF1 characters like 'Fighter' and 'Black Mage' be eligible for a contest? Probably not, but if they are, I assume they could be pretty powerful.
Karma Hunter | Posted 3/2/2007 12:41:40 PM | message detail
If Nidoran F was allowed in, I'd have to assume there'd be at least a chance that those characters would.

Not that it'd happen, though

who was it that said they expected this contest to be done by the end of March?

it might begin at the end of March! good-bye, hopes of a Game Contest this year. we'll need to nix the character battle to do that.

Now now, let's not jump to conclusions. Let's say that the bracket does get released tonight.

Bracket predictions up for about 2 week, contest starts March 17th or something. 32 entries, runs for a month. Ends mid-April. Nominations for a games contest start early May. Bracket up in June. Starts mid-June. Runs for two months. Ends mid-August. Nominations for Character Battle Start early September...contest starts...mid-October...

uhhh yeah...you're right. Not happening.

I think we're too tied into this "the Character Battle HAS to be the Summer Contest!" idea, when last year showed the CJay is willing to be very flexible with his scheduling. Quotes could run a month, followed by Games in the Summer, followed by Characters whenever. I really don't see a need for all this "woe is me!" attitude regarding the current delay.

Well on the one hand I wouldn't mind a Game Contest being pushed back that far, as it should give us a chance to see Prime 3, Galaxy, possibly MGS4 and Brawl in action. On the other hand, TP and FF6 are probably peaking right about now, and I doubt FF12/KH2/Gears/Oblivion/New Mario are the types of games that can go against the trend and get stronger as they age, Melee-style.

If we keep on thinking that, then Games Contest 2 will always be delayed to "let a big name game get in". I think it was fine holding off last year so we could get Final Fantasy XII, Twilight Princess, Kingdom Hearts 2, among others in if we were to have a Games Contest this year.
