Plenty of quality, longer quotes from RPGs and cult games going around
here, but I don't see any of them performing too well on a site-wide
platform. Nor do I see funny fad quotes (Barrel Roll, Spoony Bard, etc)
making enough of a dent to seriously contend. I'd like to give my noms
to 10 quotes with a legitimate chance of knocking off AYB in a Contest
setting. Think we can come up with that many? Here's what I have so far: Championship Contenders (could potentially top AYB) "Thank you Mario! But our Princess is in another castle." - Mario 1 * could easily see this outlasting the rest of the field, it's THE classic videogame quote "HADOKEN!" - Street Figher 2 * not seeing this mentioned, but it stands to be a beast come Contest time "Finish him!" - Mortal Kombat * see above "Snake? Snake! SNAAAAAAAAAAAKE!" - Metal Gear Solid * this quote could potentially be three times as strong as '06 Solid Snake! "METAL GEAR?!" * could be as strong as MG in the series Contest! "Carrier has arrived." -StarCraft * might be worth 57% on BL. what now, Link? "My life for Aiur!" - StarCraft * these two SC quotes should have the broadest appeal "It's-a me! this is a pretty silly contest.. I think the things that will do the
best are the most recognizable quotes. popular fad quotes (like me!)
and classic quotes (Mario, Zelda, FF). past that, eh. I don't think
anything cult/obscure really has a chance unless the quote is just

That's 8... can we come up with two more? For some reason I think AYBABTU still has some strength left in it. The quote is more recognizable than CATS and he still got 20% on Sonic. If it is indeed a bracket format, I'll pay a hell of a lot more attention (it's a novel concept, but I don't find myself caring that much at the moment). Pics and even the game name don't really have a place if this comes

If this were a bracket format contest with voting, which I am heavily
doubting, I would think that the game it comes from might be there, but
there shouldn't be any picture to accompany it. -- "If history is to be changed, let it change! If the world is to be destroyed, so be it! If it was a top ten countdown, wouldn't we be guessing the top ten at the same time that we submit our nominations, like 10AC? I would imagine that he would first need to compile a list of quotes. It's easy enough choosing a bunch of games to put in a drop down list and then choosing a bunch of VG quotes. But, who knows? This just seems like a really, really weird thing to put into a bracket and then have people vote. this is going to be a bracket thing. he wouldn't ask us to nominate stuff if it wasn't for a bracket. now how many entrants? well, that's up for debate. I'd expect 32, though I hope it's 16. I don't want this to push into March or even April. that'll really ruin the chances of a game contest if Ceej is traditional about having a character battle every year. --- yzzyx |
