I just want someone who could win 2 matches in his/her first contest
apperance without being in the mainstream of the gaming industry. ...that doesn't even make any sense. At all. Mainstream = strength by definition. Scratch out all the characters from Capcom/Nintendo/SE/Konami/Namco/EA/Acclaim/Ubisoft/VU/Epic/Microsoft/Sony/Bioware/whoever and what do you have left? Captain Hector? The Nameless One? Ghaleon? Don't get me wrong, I love these characters, but you have to be realistic here. Unpopular characters are not strong. --- "I am the Scourge of God, appointed to chastise you! After five minutes... BEST OF 2006: Best PlayStation 2 Game Bully 7.58% 55 Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories 5.37% 39 Final Fantasy XII 26.03% 189 Guitar Hero II 15.7% 114 Kingdom Hearts II 25.21% 183 Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence 11.43% 83 Okami 8.68% 63 TOTAL VOTES 726 ...first of all, this just feels stacked (and it's got some big hitters for sure). If HL2:E1 garnered any votes from being a part of the HL2 series (which
a few people have said in this topic), MGS3:S will be getting the same
thing. And btw, getting doubled by Oblivion is not bad. That game won many GotY so far, and has been the star game on the 360 until GoW showed up. --- - "Ha, the gaming industry, PS3 included, just got Wii'd." - Wanglicious |

I just realized since the beginning of '05, we've had two hits on GC: RE4 and Zelda: TP. Eek. I figure the final poll will have: NSMB FF5A Zelda: TP ES4: Oblivion FFXII Gears of War MGS: PO(?) Resistance (FF3?) (KH2?) I imagine CJayC will bend the rules for KH2, even if it loses somewhat handily to FFXII. And then, the FINAL final poll will probably have... Zelda: TP ES4: Oblivion FFXII KH2 Zelda: TP dominates that due to FFXII/KH2 getting SFFed by system and company. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" And then, the FINAL final poll will probably have... Zelda: TP ES4: Oblivion FFXII KH2 Zelda: TP dominates that due to FFXII/KH2 getting SFFed by system and company. Well, the final poll usually has just three games. Hell, there's been five before...but for as many GotY-winners as we're
gonna have this year (DS, GBA, GC, PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, 360, Wii,
multi-platform), I really doubt we'll see any more than just the
winners. Granted, LoZ:TP and possibly Oblivion can win two each, making
it only eight in the first overall-GotY...but even then, I don't think
CJay will be inclined to let KH2 in. Again, there would already be at
least eight, and I would think CJay would look at who was the closest
second-place before he just jumped the gun with KH2 -- that's what
happened in 2k4 with CJay's decision of Burnout 3 instead of MGS3 for
the first overall-GotY... ...so, considering that FF3 was so close to NSMB and Oblivion/GoW could be closer than FF12/KH2, too, I can't see KH2 in the final poll. --- Rufus Shinra: like a true Guru should, he owned me. http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=32191952 |

day vote, especially in that anticipation poll. *shrug* I don't know. Uh, 3000 votes is a hell of a lot more to overcome when you're splitting a poll with 6 other games. They are all going to continue to get votes, regardless of how KH does in the day relatively. Individual vote totals for each entry are going to be waaaay down as compared to one-on-one matches, so 3000 votes is a LOT more to overcome. It has nothing to do with the opponents. It's the nature of a multi-poll. Again, you're talking about Kingdom Hearts coming back with 33% of the vote total it has after half the day is gone. In a normal one-on-one poll, that's like expecting something to come back from 10000+ votes. Of course KHII's day vote is going to be seriously diluted by the other opponents, but if you're honestly standing there and telling me that KHII has no chance of winning, after everything we've seen it do in the past, then I know for sure who is "delusional". --- http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs9/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=22242738 Sign plz Anticipating: RE5, MGS4, SSBB, GoW 2 |

To further elaborate... just looking at Kingdom Hearts 2 and FFXII's
votes alone, FFXII would be up 56.3-43.7. With the current vote total,
the lead would be over 5000 votes right now, and still growing. Sure
Kingdom Hearts could make it look respectable, but would you really be
expecting it to come back 5000 on FF? It's not like FF has a terrible
day vote in its own right.... --- Currently playing: Resident Evil 4, Twilight Princess (GC), Castlevania PoR, Yoshi's Island DS |

but if you're honestly standing there and telling me that KHII has
no chance of winning, after everything we've seen it do in the past,
then I know for sure who is "delusional". The most important part of his statement is the comparison of 3,000 votes here being equal to 10,000 votes in a one-on-one match. Kingdom Hearts has no shot here of winning; at this point in a one-on-one match, the point of no return has well been passed. Kingdom Hearts has been done for a while. --- "All human wisdom is contained in these two words -- 'Wait and hope.'" -- Edmond Dantès |

No, mnm, I would never dream of calling a stats reg delusional! I don't see the logic behind what you're saying. FF has a 3000 vote lead. That much cannot be denied. The highest vote comeback we've ever seen is a 2200 vote. Or something. But the fact remains, give Claire a lead of 4000 over Kairi just before the day vote starts and Kairi still wins - provided Claire and Kairi's strength remains the same as it is in real life. I hope that makes sense. >_> Anyway, sure FFXII is the heavy favourite, but if you're counting out KHII completely then I have to offer a hearty "wow". --- http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs9/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=22242738 Sign plz Anticipating: RE5, MGS4, SSBB, GoW 2 |

Yeah, I sadly have to support HM and mnm on this -- on top of all
that's been said, I wouldn't expect too much of an after-school vote
either. I know some high schools that are now open again, but I know
there are alot that aren't and I imagine most colleges haven't yet
either. I still think KH2 is going to make this look more respectable,
but it'll be a BIG moral victory if it simply gets within 2,000 of FF12

Dr. Derek Stiles (Trauma Center: Second Opinion) Amaterasu/Shang is a toss-up in Round 1, Mewtwo/Vaan is a good match in R2, Ashe/Yuffie is a good R3 match. East 1. Balthier Buanza (Final Fantasy XII) 16. Fou-Lu (Breath of Fire IV) 8. Pit (Kid Icarus) 9. Luneth (Final Fantasy III) 5. Mog (Final Fantasy VI) 12. Roy (Fire Emblem 6) 4. Tron Bonne (Mega Man Legends) 10. Barret Wallace (Final Fantasy VII) 2. Diddy Kong (Donkey Kong) 15. K. K. Slider (Animal Crossing) Pit/Luneth (fodder-fest) and Mog/Roy are very good R1 matches. Fei/Zelos could go either way, too... Zelos is probably a bit weaker than Sheena, within Fei's reach, but Zelos seems a little safer....or maybe not. Dizzy has a small shot at upsetting Rayman, maybe...could be like a weaker Morrigan. Everything past R1 is easy. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" Pious Augustus (Eternal Darkness) 2. Gilgamesh (Final Fantasy V/XII) 15. Ky Kiske (Guilty Gear) Midna/Rinoa's pretty hard, Serge has a small shot at upsetting Guile, Marth/Quistis is tough, Nightmare/Bahamut is tough, Pious might beat Lyndis, Ky Kiske might beat Gilgamesh...very tough R1 here. In Round 2, Roxas/Rinoa(Midna?) is difficult, Quistis/Bahamut if they even face each other, Lyndis/Gilgamesh is hard... Round 3 is easier, assuming you got the Round 2 winners correct, and Round 4... if Roxas can beat Rinoa, he can probably win the division. West 1. Seifer Almasy (Final Fantasy VIII) 16. Frank West (Dead Rising)...who? Isn't he a movie star? 8. Marcus Fenix (Gears of War) 9. Marina Liteyears (Mischief Makers)...maybe she can break 40%! >_> 5. CID HIGHWIND (Final Fantasy VII) 12. Locke Cole (Final Fantasy VI) 10. Musashi (Brave Fencer) 2. Yoshimitsu (Tekken) 15. Ecco the Dolphin (Ecco the Dolphin) I wouldn't count Edgar out against Meta-Knight if hype for SSBO hasn't picked up much and FFVIA is out, Musashi seems like a bit of a wild card...he'll probably end up a little stronger than Lenneth, which I think Locke can handle. Rufus beats Laguna, yes... FF7 power and all. Final Four: Yuffie Red XIII Roxas Cid Highwind...WINNER. Returners Tournament North 1. Fox McCloud (Starfox) 8. Kuja (Final Fantasy IX) 4. Wario (Wario) 5. Strider Hiryu (Strider) 3. Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic) 6. Ridley (Metroid) 2. Miles "Tails" Prower (Sonic) 7. Master Hand (Super Smash Bros. Maybe Fox could upset Shadow if we're lucky, but I doubt it. South 1. Raiden (Metal Gear Solid 2) 8. Pikachu (Pokemon) 4. Ken Masters (Street Fighter) 5. Scorpion (Mortal Kombat) 3. Liquid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) 6. Bomberman (Bomberman) 2. Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics) 7. HK-47 (Star Wars: KotOR) Scorpion is stronger than ever, and wins the division...maybe. Yeah, this is over. KHII will not be coming back. I'm a bit surprised FFXII won so handily though. --- Let the snow fall deep, the rain drive down, and the wind buffet my cloak. I care not for I've a road worth walking ~ Drizzt Do'Urden |

You don't want to see Seifer in the contest... but you want Tron ****ing Bonne in it? Something is wrong here. --- Explicit Content. Cheer Up Emo Kids |

I can't wait for Shadow to make his Contest return! And nothing too shocking today, though I didn't think GH2 would do as well as it's currently doing, beating THE MGS3 and all. --- Moltar Status: Wild and hot-blooded Final SC2K6 score: 176...at least my alt made the Top 15 |

You don't want to see Seifer in the contest... but you want Tron ****ing Bonne in it? Something is wrong here. Actually I wouldn't mind Seifer. I just don't want us getting to the point where we'd have to nominate, say, ****ing Cid from FF8 over some other character. The **** would just be getting out of hand. --- Mr. Inverse Absolute Power WWEGSB Hardcore Legend and Board 8er Masa/Hiko |
