I've been saying Zelda over-performed on Samus, though I dunno if it's
enough to match the stats...but I swear I'm not going to try to relate
this year's stats to last year's, and I doubt I'll do it next year
either. I think by this time next year, we'll simply be having a clean

I believe that Snake overperformed by a % or more on Sonic. I'm sorry,
but I refuse to buy the idea that Samus would do better on Sonic NOW
than she did in 2004, or that she would approach 60% on Crono in a
match that some deem to be debatable (incidentally, this would give a
lot of credence to the idea of Samus > Mario indirectly...err, yeah). If we're actually talking about why, then I have no clue. Maybe a certain degree of SFF. Oh, and Zelda overperformed on Samus as well. Virtually NOTHING Samus did in the course of the year leads me to
believe that she's indirectly stronger than Mario, and I stand by that.
When your most impressive performance is 53% on Solid Snake, that's not
good enough to stand up to Mario, directly or indirectly. --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

If you measure from constant Sonic (slightly low if anything), that puts Samus' x-stat value at 45.60%, and Snake's at 42.77%. Considering no Mario characters increased (arguably), you've got to admit to either Samus being quite a bit stronger than Mario (doesn't make sense to me) or that Samus/Snake and/or Snake/Sonic was a fluke, and by more than like 1%. Think about it. Oh, and I'm talking Mario 2K5 here, and, really, I don't think Mario has gotten any stronger, anyway. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! Have I mentioned how much I despise the off-season? This topic has been
devoid of activity because of it, the board hardly has anything
interesting going on besides all these crazy user tournaments and "Save
my Mom" and "Heal/Hurt my Final Fantasy Class" and all of that bull
****. Now I don't want CJayC to be pumping out contests like babies or
anything, but I wish there was some way to vigorate Board 8 with some

Even if you want to write off the Sora/Auron comparison, that's not the
only piece of evidence. Go to lol x-stats and plug in Bowser v. Ryu for
2006. Yeah.
I'm open to the ideas of Bowser overperforming on Ryu due to funky
Nintendo > SF overperforming, characters underperforming when they
hit Squintendo characters as opposed to other companies, or just having
a bad year in general. But come on. That's just nuts. One can be written off as a fluke, two is suspicious, but three times? Ryu simply cannot beat Bowser, Sora simply cannot beat Auron, and, sad as it may be to say, in 2006 Mega Man was simply not beating Crono. --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

Snake overperforming on Sonic would explain a lot of things, actually: Zero (2006c) VS Ryu Hayabusa (2006c) Zero has a strength of 28.52. Ryu Hayabusa has a strength of 25.36. Zero wins with 55.54% of the vote! A win of 13,889 with 125,351 total votes cast. Does anyone really think Zero dropped THAT much? --- Ganondorf (2006c) VS Yuna (2006c) Ganondorf has a strength of 35.16. Yuna has a strength of 35.26. Yuna wins with 50.14% of the vote! A win of 373 with 131,622 total votes cast. Uh-huh. A 20-second cameo turns a 60-40 beating into an upset. --- On top of that, Snake seemed leagues above everybody else until he hit Samus, where he reverted back to his old self + maybe 3 percent, which is a reasonable boost. Samus (2005c) VS Snake (2005c) Samus has a strength of 41.69. Snake has a strength of 36.97. Samus wins with 55.66% of the vote! Nonsense. There is nothing suspect whatsoever about Sonic v Snake. Sonic (2006c) VS Tifa (2006c) Sonic has a strength of 38.70. Tifa has a strength of 41.01. Tifa wins with 52.82% of the vote! Ganon seems plenty underrated, and he was behind Sonic. Luigi vs. Sonic is also fairly compelling evidence that Sonic's division is underrated. I never said I have a problem with Sonic being possibly underrated, I
didn't take it into account in my stats, but it's possible. My point
was that match with Tifa has little to do with Sonic, that's because of

being stronger than every male except for Snake ain't right. She didn't

Well, I'd be hard-pressed to place Zelda above Ganondorf... that makes
her quarter-bracket seem too strong, except Aeris. Basically, if Zelda
vs. Samus was accurate, that means Samus would be worth around 40% on
BL. Maybe it -could- be the case, as it makes Tifa's overperformance on
Samus seem a little more feasible. Then, you'd be nearly forced to say
that Snake/Sonic was a major anomaly as well, and that Mega Man
weakened quite a bit from 2K5 (i.e. struggle to beat Vincent), unless
you believe Samus truly rSFFed Snake almost to Mario/Samus proportions.
