Now THIS is SFF. It's just a shame we couldn't see what would've
happened to poor Metroid Prime 3 if it had been included instead of GT5. --- 11/18/06...the day I was owned by Rufus Shinra in the Guru Contest. |

Oh, you mean Super Mario Galaxy? Yeah, you're right... wow, I didn't
think GameFAQs as a whole would prefer SSBB that much over SMG, in

What reason do people have to be more excited about SMG as opposed to
SSBB? SSBB is the sequel to SSBM, the most popular game on the GC (and
indeed, the most popular game of its generation here). SMG is the
followup to...SMS, a game so disappointing it didn't even make the
Games Contest. While there are a few that are more excited for SMG
(including myself), even I can admit that SSBB has done FAR more to
pique my interest than SMG has -- it probably wouldn't have done *that*
hot even if SSBB wasn't there. --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

And as for preferring it *so* much over all the other games...well, the
Nintendo vote is only split through two options while the Playstation
vote is split over five... ...not that SSBB should have any trouble taking out any of those games individually, of course. It could be more popular than TP if Nintendo plays their cards right. --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

I voted Galaxy. SSBB is just another SSB. It will be good I'm sure, but
it doesn't look like it will be a monumental improvement over the last
entry. SMG, on the other hand, looks like it will reinvent Mario after
a disappointing entry. I'm more looking forward to the game that
rekindles a series than the game that continues a series. <3 Miss R --- I love Detroit sports! |

The only member of the Noble Nine I'd think Tifa would even have a
remote chance against in 2K7 is Mega Man, and that's only because
recent years seem to indicate a striking year-by-year decline in MM's

Metal Gear Solid 4 is indeed the correct choice, but I highly doubt it
beats Final Fantasy. New fans of Snake aren't going to vote for MGS,

If there would have never been a trailer of SSBB at E3, I would have
still thought MGS4 would have come out the big winner there. I
understand that, due to this site's preferences, that FF13 would have
outdone it still, but I think when you couple with it that SSBB did
have a trailer there -- one that did so much to both hype Solid Snake
and get SSB/M fans to check out the MGS series -- that would be enough
to help MGS get ~4% of SSBB's votes today than FF13. Would anybody disagree with me if I said MGS4 and SMG would be the two who would benefit the most if SSBB missed out? --- Damn, most of my dates involve mocking and/or beating up people like you and your bride-to-be, so I really have no advice --Horatio |

Just for fun, if you assume Mario 2k5 = Samus 2k6, Solid Snake
increased by just over 4%...and Samus managing to "SFF" Solid seems to
be a popular theory as well. Samus vs Snake is fishy so i think it is best to extrapolate Snake strength through constant Sonic and Megaman. Snake probably increase roughly 7% against Mario in just one year. --- I am a Singaporean and hope Snake will do well for the rest of the contest. |

re-release of a game that didn't have Solid, technically). Which one do
you think helped Solid the most this year? SSBB hype. What made SSBB so
hyped? Solid Snake's surprise-announcement in Nintendo's biggest game
since LoZ:OoT. Which two games on today's list are SSBB fans most
likely to be excited about outside of SSBB? SMG and MGS4. I'm stickin' with it -- without SSBB, MGS4 beats FF13 in today's poll. gains more -- SMG or MGS4? Also, without SSBB, would you take SMG to

SSBB introduced a totally new fanbase for Snake and we know that Nintendo is pretty the most popular gaming company here on Gamefaqs. Oh yeah, I've been saying Solid Snake came out as the winner of E3 for
a long time instead of SSBB or MGS4...but I know that lots of gamers
have since given the MGS series a chance since they know he's now in
the game. I agree with you, but don't think the number of gamers giving

Any chance Halo 3 could overtake FF13 here? It should get well-within a
percent of each other at this pace of Halo's gaining and FF's losing,

Wow, I didn't even bother checking the poll until I saw this topic.
Plain SSBB domination, and SMG is hurting bad because of it.
Interesting FF13 and Halo 3 are just about tied. MGS4 should definitely
be doing better though!! --- Moltar Status: Rocked by Rufus Shinra in bracketmaking. Final SC2K6 score: 176...at least my alt made the Top 15 |

Yeah, but I'm of the opinion Snake's a liar. At the very least I
wouldn't take Mega Man over Crono, and Vincent/Squall/Auron all seem
very nice upset choices over the Blue Bomber...I can't see them being

I've been wondering something. Some people predicted that Squall would
upset Snake, but instead Squall disappointed severely. But looking
back, did Squall really disappoint that much? After all, we got that

Squall nearly gets over 49% on Vincent despite Vincent having DoC and
AC to his credit since the last time they tangled if you trust the
stats. Sure, I don't
necessarily believe the stats, but Snake overperforming on him is still
a viable possibility. Squall could have really done some damage this

The reason I did that poll was because it's almost impossible for both
Bowser to be above Sora AND for Mega Man to be above Vincent as of this
past contest, yet I noticed that Bowser and Mega Man were the favorites
in both cases. Actually, it's funny that it's more possible for both to be the case than neither, since Sora's further ahead of Bowser than Mega Man is ahead of Vincent... Time for some pure math...no extrapolating through Solid Snake involved. If Bowser squeaks by Sora with 50.00% (via over-rated Mega Man, surely), that means Vincent beats Mega Man with 52.17%. I doubt any of you would want to adjust Mega Man down that much, though. Do the opposite...assuming Mega Man slips by Vincent with 50.00% (Mega Man's over-rated, but just a little), Sora beats Bowser by the same 52.17%. I'd like to say that Snake's matches against Squall, Mega Man, and
Sonic were all accurate. That means Sonic and Mega Man were constant

Despite the fact that he's virtually equal with Sonic. You see, the thing is, Mega Man used to be stronger than Sonic, and not just by a little. He's given Sephiroth a strong fight in the past, he's repeatedly beaten Snake in 2K3 and 2K4 by numbers Sonic in 2K3 and 2K4 could not have possibly achieved, and now...MM is declining. Sonic is more or less staying stagnant because he at least has new next-gen games coming out with his name on it, keeping his fanbase intact. But MM is losing his old support as the casuals dump him for characters like Snake, with flashy new releases, as opposed to sticking with the classics. It's the same reason why, aside from MM, Crono is the member of the Noble Nine who's lost the most ground. Is it any surprise these two would be weakest of the bunch given their utter lack of new material? -- MWIS |
