...Poor Cloud, looks like he might not even get what Sephiroth

So what do you grade a character on if it isn't personality? You know, it's entirely possible that giving a character a personality can make you like them less, and that's definitely true with Cloud. Personally, I'm loving this beatdown, but Link and Cloud are still my two least favorite characters in the BR. As for what makes Link > Cloud? Playing as Link is fun. What if Link's not an indestructible god, and Cloud just dropped for some bizarre reason? We'll never know with this format for sure. Okay, the BR implies otherwise. But we've only seen Link in 3 direct matches since 2004, you never know. It could be some sorta non-linearity in favorites polls nonsense going on there. Considering how far away Sephiroth is and how far away Mario and everybody else is from Sephiroth, it amounts to the same thing. Okay, mnm's right. This topic is way too
quiet. I mean, I had Cloud *winning* this match, and I've had more to
say than most of the people in here! Link supporters could at least
deign to gloat or something. << Although nice to see Cloud not ending *too* pathetically after that abysmal start of his. He should push 46% by the end of this, doing around 1.5% worse than last year. That's not insane dominance, though I probably will need more than a FFVII remake to take Cloud over Link ever again thanks to TP (not to mention my perfect streak of calling Link/Cloud matches comes to an end today...). But what about stats? Should we try and incorporate Link/Cloud/Sephiroth/Mario into some final stats, or do we leave them be? And who are we trying to base the stats off this year, anyway? NGamer's X-Stat calculator pegs Samus at like 46.00 on BL or something, which just comes off as insane to me (but was likely completely arbitrary, so whatever). --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

The current values were set by putting 2005 Mega Man = to his 2006
version. That's just a placeholder until I hear a hard number from

CATS? No way. Face CATS pegs Sonic to be at Sephiroth level or
thereabouts (with him being behind MC and in the VC being no small
factor there), I think, while Eggplant CATS (aside from being two years

I missed a lot in the past week. What was the final verdict about Zelda
doing so well against Samus? I know I randomly threw out a potential
"Villains Contest overperformance" for the female bracket. It was kinda
brushed aside... but Zelda beating Sonic
53/47? And through Snake, Samus beats down Sonic about as bad as she
did in 2004. That also means she would indirectly beat Crono and Mega
Man just as bad. So did Samus BOOST? Sonic DID look stronger in 2k5
right? Or maybe we shouldn't have kept Crono constant last year?

If I had to guess, I'd say rSFF on Zelda's part (though I really don't
get Ganondorf doing so much worse, unless he's really just that much of
a leech). Still, we all know Zelda's not that high. Heck, Yuna beats

Just put Samus at 50% and go from there. Base Link is outdated and
irrelevant, and I've never understood why people insist on using him.

Meh, if Link 2k2 and 2k3 are different, it's because Link was stronger
in 2k3. Now, that doesn't mean he necessarily lived up to his full
POTENTIAL that year thanks to his WW pics, but no amount of pic factor
could overshadow the gains he made with the actual Wind Waker game,
not to mention his much-hyped appearance in Soul Calibur II. And we all
know that Link's indisputably worst performance that contest had

Why would Cloud drop though? He was in KH2, AC was officially released
in the US, and the majority of his FF counterparts were up this year on
the strength of DoC/AC/FF12/what have you. I'd think 2006 Cloud would

I don't mind having a Base Link -- hell, we need to in order to best
judge older characters statistically (though you have to consider other
things, of course)... ...but with such insane change this year due to a huge E3 and the release of the 360, not to mention the new change that will be set next year due to the PS3/Wii/LoZ:TP/FF12, then throw in such potential weirdness as Samus/Tifa, Solid/Yoshi, Luigi's run (though stretches for all three of his matches), and whatever else...I think next year will simply require a new Base Link and deem all other stats we have except maybe this year's stats obsolete. --- Diddy did it. Thanks to Aprosenf for the first 45 minutes of updates for this match. Also I will not be calculating any Base Link or Link stats. Just normal Samus stats, with a footnote on Tifa overperformance. As you might expect Snake surviving this long was a surprize to most people. Nobody in the Top 8 tiers got it right. It isn't until the -33s do the tiers start having a prediction percentage above 0 consistantly. 7 people fell off the Top 50 today. Exystence, knick_ch, supercuts, geno_16, dandyandy1130, cloudff72000 and SquallidSnake did not have Snake going out this round. 40 of the Top 50 members managed to hang on despite getting the match wrong. Also, as for Cloud/Link...I know it's hard to imagine, but I don't see
how Cloud didn't gain in some fashion. He was in KH2 (I don't know how
big a role, but I don't think it was small), he was the star in FF:AC,
any FF12/DoC:FF7 influx that may have come could help him...then we
have already seen Tifa and Vincent impress this year while Aeris looks
to be at her 2k3 value from what I hear, then Sephiroth only
disappointed because of the format...and if Solid can kick ass like he
did this year off of SUPPOSEDLY just hype (though I don't think MGS3:S
and such did too much for him either), then Link doing so well a week
before the Wii and LoZ:TP release cannot be out of the question either.
