To me that was a pretty clear case of rallying on both sides. The
difference was, because B8 favored Snake so heavily, they were smart

I wish either had lost by only 1 vote. But instead it was 56 votes difference --- I can't speak for anyone in the Marine Corps, of course...however, if anyone here has a mullet, they deserve to be beaten with said mullet. |

| Heh, either Snake is ironically benefitting quite
a bit from Sephiroth's former voters, or there are just a lot of
leftover Snake supporters from the last match --- ertyu and VeghEsther are truly proof that there is much about this world we still do not understand. |

Snake took a lot of Seph voters, it seems. Anyone else got a sneaking
suspicion Cloud is going to take a whole hell of a lot of Snake votes

Well I can tell you for a fact that alt-voting (not from me, for the
record) got about 50 votes in for Seph in those last 5 minutes. And
they weren't counted in the final total, because Ceej fixed that method

look at how many Seph voters went to Snake (though his % will drop all
day...) today. He beenefitted much more from the demise of Sephiroth
than Samus and Mario for a reason, and he stands to give a lot more to

The elimination of Samus and Mario benefitted Snake by about 14% each,
and the elimination of Sephiroth so far seems to be benefitting him by
about 30%. I'm not really sure how to take that. Though Snake may drop off a little bit later --- ertyu and VeghEsther are truly proof that there is much about this world we still do not understand. |

You people seriously think Snake fans like Link more than Cloud? You certainly have a lot of people who have voted for Snake up until now saying they'll give their votes to Link when he goes. Cloud will take a majority of them, sure, but a majority of them hasn't been enough for the past three days of the Battle Royale. He's not going to take some absurd majority or anything either. I never say it since it seems to be an unpopular sentiment, but I definitely feel the same way. Summing up the entire culmination of a contest in one picture is something that I feel has been missing from the contests since 2004. Imagine if Mario v. I then said later on how Cloud takes a slight majority of the votes yet still doesn't win with those, as he hasn't the past three days even when you give him 100% of Sephiroth's votes, which he would never get. It's just a more tangible example of how people who have voted Snake throughout the entire Royale have said they would vote. It can rather easily apply to people outside of the board too, but I wouldn't expect them to be a majority. It wouldn't be terribly surprising if Link did take the majority, but I doubt he does. Right. Look at Snake, he's taken a lot of the Sephiroth votes. Look at Link. Has he taken any
Sephiroth votes? If he has, it's very little. This implies a connection
between FF7 and MGS. A very strong connection. The Snake fans are going
to lean towards Cloud over Link in numbers large enough to notice, and
I wager by the end fo this match Cloud will only need 66% of Snake's

That last post made no sense, time to fix. Well, Snake seems to have benefitted twice as much from Sephiroth's elimination than Samus or Mario. If we hold the reverse to be true, and Cloud to benefit from Snake's eliminatation twice as much as Link, then... Cloud still loses with about 47%. Anybody who doesn't realize cheating went on for Snake there is a
monkey's uncle. But Ceej is obviously not going to do anything. I agree with you, but the problem is I don't think there's a thing he can do about it. In my opinion it's a lot more likely that there were a number of people who voted 2 or 3 times, rather than one person who voted 50 times... and that kind of thing is just about impossible to catch. --- ....TCELES B HSUP |

You think Snake is going to hold on to that % or even come close? He
lost in the neighborhood of 3% of the total vote from this time until
the end yesterday. Link lost 1%. Only Cloud increased. If that happens

Well I can tell you for a fact that alt-voting (not from me, for the record) got about 50 votes in for Seph in those last 5 minutes. And they weren't counted in the final total, because Ceej fixed that method ages ago. We all know that Ceej's vote-catching methods aren't perfect, because that's impossible. They're just good enough such that matches shouldn't be decided by cheating unless they're within a few hundred votes. For this match, Ceej might've been able to detect something using his IP range analysis like he did in Kefka/Tommy. But he'd have to only look at the last 5 minutes (the scale of the cheating would be too small to show up otherwise), who knows if he can even do for such small time intervals (though he probably could). At any rate, I just don't think he cares enough to put in the effort, or that he cares to delay the next match (which he'd have to here). If this was a situation where the winner wasn't advancing to the very next match, he'd be more likely to look more in depth manually than rely on his automated filters. His automated filters would be very unlikely to catch any dial-up shenanigans or the vast majority of proxy votes, for instance, and those are pretty basic cheating methods. A person should be able to detect them in the logs if he looked hard enough and had the knowledge to do so, but if Ceej did look into anything I doubt it would be anything more than a cursory "all's well" glance to reassure himself he doesn't need to do anything. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

Say what? I know that Snake is not going
to hold that percentage simply because Link is a beast with the after
school vote and we all know what Snake does during the day. I was just
saying that while Snake looked like he took a huge chunk there, he's
losing a lot of his percentage per update right now. Link was somewhere
in the 43% area a few updates ago and now he's above 45%. Snake is the

If true you're right, that wouldn't be catchable. Thing is, what are the odds that you'd have 20+ Snake fans voting twice, but no Sephiroth fans doing so? That type of rallying should mostly offset. Despite being one part of Clinkeroth, a lot of people didn't have faith in Sephiroth and it paid off. The -12 in first place got the match right while the -13 and -15s dropped the ball(there are no -14s). Now theres only 4 people within 8 points of Jakyl25. From the -16s to the -22s at least one person got the match right on every tier(except 1). From there the prediction percentage jumps into the 20-30 range. It jumps around but overall slowly decreases as you go down. It doesn't reach the single digits until you get to the people who were probably trying to lose or were a favorites bracket. 22 people fell off the Top 50 today. Crzyguy9, Ultima89, Luigifan98, FollowTheNoob, pbarkers77, Smell007, N2, ka255, kris22ps2, Nntfreak, Zaps, PyRo813, PKTurnip, andrewcruz, Adzial, FF7Cloud_Strife, ddmagnas, Typhoid88, daddywill88, elscorcho3200, robbieseclipse and VerbalOsmosis didn't think Sephiroth was going out today but they were wrong. 12 more people on the Top 50 were mistaken but manage to hang on to their (slightly lower) spots on the Top 50. ChromeGadget, Heroic_Rufus, SavvySam, leadrboardsteve, MasterMoltar, SocomGirl, GameFreak0909, CaptnNGameMastr, psxfreak1011, MegaMeh, Exystence and cloudff72000 also did not have Sephiroth going out in Round 3. --- I got pwnt by Z1mZum in the July 2006 Guru Contest. It's also a bit weird that Link can take 80% of Samus's votes but Cloud is going to struggle to take 2/3rds of Seph's --- ertyu and VeghEsther are truly proof that there is much about this world we still do not understand. |
