If the new Sonics are actually great, that'll go a long way toward Sonic making a huge push up the ranks, but I think too much of GameFAQs has more or less given up on Sonic. He needs a Resident Evil 4-esque revival to really make a shakeup in these things.

Guys, who do you think will be the most popular FF12 character here.

I am going to buy the game tomorrow but i would like to listen to your views.

so true, MM has this problem too. it's kinda like Tomb Raider, you can make a great game and no one will notice because they're so used to mediocrity.

Yeah, but...Lara's actually looking pretty good. And there's a big difference between Sonic's new games and Mega Man's, in that Sonic's actually sell. The MMBN games were decently popular, but they were portable.

Hmm yeah the poll is pushed down but you can actually see it load before it gets the heave ho. Then again these are the same people who are like "OMG Samus is teh woman?" Yeah rerun the poll in the interest of fairness....so you know Link can receive full power of Twilight Princess HA HA HA.

Should I start running now?

Yeah, but...Lara's actually looking pretty good.

And like I said, I don't buy it...45% on the character that got freaking killed by Yuna doesn't inspire me none, and even if you wanted to be extremely optimistic with her performance on Zelda, we all know she's not *that* far off from Ganon (let alone above Sonic, Mega Man, Crono, and giving this Super Snake a damn good fight). Adjusting Zelda down even modestly isn't that impressive for Lara -- above her 2k4 value, sure, but we knew she wasn't going to get that low.

I don't think Lara boosted much at all. she just got owned by the one character who outdoes her in every way, Samus.

a good Sonic/MM game will help, but not that much because so many people on GF have given up on the series.

Ugh, Ganondorf looks like Nemesis from RE3. Hopefully he plays a major factor in the game for a significant boost.
Mac Arrowny | Posted 11/13/2006 10:04:28 AM | message detail
I'm willing to believe that Chun Li = Chun 2k5 after seeing what Ryu did, and Lara only did about a percent worse than she's expected to with her 2k3 value, despite that value being possibly overrated. True, Lara did get overperformed on in 2k4, but even so, she probably dropped then, and Lara would be doing good to even remain constant at this point in time.

Ganon would get a significant boost from Twilight Princess even if he wasn't in the damn thing.

He doesn't look that great this year, though. Crono is honestly his best shot, and I would never take that upset unless the Dorf actually blew my mind in the game.

And let me put this to rest -- Balthier is the strongest FFXII character. The fanbase has chosen him, I'd bet good money on him outperforming any other FFXII character by a significant margin.

Now whether that translates to him barely making Kefka level remains to be seen...

I've heard little hype about new Mega Man games. For ZX, it was just like "Oh, it's out? Whatever." Meanwhile, videos of both the new Sonic games have blown me away, and even though I'm a tad biased, I think that they'll do a great job of erasing games like Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog.

Hell, Sonic Rush made up for the entire Advance series.

I guess Tifa's and Zelda's overperformances can be explained by the fact that they were part of the female side. Same deal with Ganondorf/Bowser against Sephiroth in the Villains contest.

Why the hell did I bet against a character as deep, awesome and badass as Lara Croft, instead favouring a character from something as lame as HL2? Forgive me, XIII.

I don't like Ganondorf's outfit... reminds me of Rocksteady and Bebop from the TMNT!
Mac Arrowny | Posted 11/13/2006 10:25:37 AM | message detail
By the way, who are we using as constant now? Sonic 2k5? Even using him makes Samus stronger than Samus 2k4 (which is certainly possible, thanks to the Nintendo boost), and Snake, of course, looks as obscene as ever. Sonic's division also looks pretty poor that way...which really makes me favor this Snake overperforming on Sonic idea.

and I don't think this is Samus being underrated or whatever - Zelda and Tifa pretty much eliminate that idea, plus Yuna will end up at a level I'm so not ready to give her. I think this is Snake's SSB votes evaporating when going up against a SSB favourite.

I still say tifa's performance was only nearly as high as it was because of the zero suit samus pic. I'm not quite sure what to think of zelda though... maybe some sort of rsff?

At any rate, I'd be surprised if Samus lost any strength from previous years given the commanding victory she's heading towards.

If Samus is constant or boosted, and Snake isn't getting any SSBB votes here, then this makes Snake even more of an absolute monster than before. 2k4 Samus get 56% on 2k5 Snake.

The during-school vote is similar to the night vote. Snake's actually doing pretty poorly with it, IMO.

If Samus is constant or boosted, and Snake isn't getting any SSBB votes here, then this makes Snake even more of an absolute monster than before. 2k4 Samus get 56% on 2k5 Snake.

Yeah, but she also does worse than Snake did on Sonic 2k5, which is quite a problem.

Yup, as diluted as Veterans Day was supposed to make Sonic/Crono's afterschool vote, Crono still got mauled.

It's not likely that he'll do THAT badly, but if Samus is sapping Snake's SSBB support he could very well end around Zelda's percentage.

And...yup, votals are sucking even HARDER now. We might not even sniff 110k.

Snake *used* to be at that level though, which is the thing. Remember, it's Snake that has had the reputation for years about having the worst day vote in the contest, the day vote that could make Frog look like a champ...if SSBB was the reason in the first place for Snake getting a day vote that didn't totally embarrass him, we could see him falter pretty badly here.

well, even if she's taking some of it away, it sure as hell ain't all of it:

Samus (2005c) VS Snake (2005c)

Samus has a strength of 41.69.
Snake has a strength of 36.97.

Samus wins with 55.66% of the vote!
A win of 10,447 with 92,273 total votes cast.

and if Samus is any kind of underrated, it's an even worse beating.

Is anyone talking about the possibility of a poll re-do because of the position glitch.? Even if there's only 10,000 votes missing at this point, and if Snake got, say 55% of those, Samus would only have a lead of 200 some votes. After seeing how drastically the results changed with the new poll placement, I would severely question the results of any final that has the poll glitching down towards the middle of the page. These votals alone should be a clue that something's up.

FYI, I have Samus winning the contest, so I'm not trying to be a sore loser or anything.
