Common sense in the context of the GameFAQs contest setting. I like how you didn't read my next sentence. You still haven't explained Samus doing better on Link than Mario did. Which one? About her outranking him in the X-Stats for one year? You realize it's incorrect now, right? The one about the context in which I'm utilising the idea of common sense. Huge icon + huge votals + leader of huge fanbase (which he was, since Link was gone, and he's second in the pecking order) would be more than enough to beat her, irregardless of the statistics behind 2004, and especially the small difference between them in 2002. --- Z1mZum more like Z1mAwesome. You still haven't explained Samus doing better on Link than Mario

Mario...seeing her apparently stand up to SFF better than Mario did. And I don't think he ever will. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2458 I'm not sure how much credibility that poll can have, but in a poll that was basically LoZ vs everything, LoZ got about 40% of the vote. I wonder if Link will finish #1 in every poll. I would expect yes. Actually that made me think of a more general question: Will there be any 'flip-flops' in the Battle Royale in terms of ranking vs. ousting? i.e., will there be any instances where the pattern of future eliminations doesn't follow how the previous polls ranked? e.g., Sephiroth gets more than Cloud in a poll or two, but gets eliminated before him. If Samus does win, who exists should go in order of power, since I
imagine Samus would get SFFed more than Mario in the first round, which

In 2005, it was not at all clear that Mario was Nintendo's #2. If he, the Nintendo icon for over 20 years, could be so far behind Link, what the heck was so irrational about him being behind Samus in a GameFAQs context? And Mario vs. Link can be explained by the ill feeling felt towards Mario after what happened with him and Crono. There was a lot more ill feeling after Mario/Cloud than there was after Mario/Crono, and I suspect that Crono received far more "revenge" votes than Link did...hell, Sephiroth probably got more from revenge voting against Link on Cloud's behalf than Link did against Mario on Crono's behalf. --- "Luckily, I brought my smart sword. If anyone breaks 30% in the first round of the Battle Royale, I'll be
extremely impressed. We're talking about six characters with legitimate
strength and fanbases that all overlap to some degree. It's going to be
tough for any one character to separate himself/herself from the pack

| Actually, yeah, common sense. Considering they
were close enough in 2002 for him to SFF her to victory, he was ahead
in 2003, he was hit by Crono in a weird match in 2004, a year with low
vote totals hampering his strength, the absolute zeal put forth by many
of you during the build up to 2005 about Samus' victory was, indeed,
ridiculous and illogical. Which is what the original discussion was
about. That Samus was getting more respect than she deserved during
that time period. And obviously, I'm being hyperbolic when I claim that it was totally, 100% obvious that Mario would win. This is because it's naff to *****foot around your own point when you're arguing. Gosh, do you guys know how to have a discussion without being needlessly condescending and anti-social?
