Well, compared to previous years Snake shouldn't look *too* bad... it's not Snake I'm worried about - rather I should say that everyone sans Snake's division is going to look bad. let's say Samus wins with... 52%. Snake's at 40%, MM and Sonic are at 35.75% or so and Crono's down near 35%. interesting stuff. --- xyzzy |

It was always obvious. We've been over this countless times before, but please, feel free to explain how. The only piece of evidence present at the time was the Games Contest, and that never made it "obvious." --- I don't know when, I don't know how, but I know something starting right now... I never understood the Smaus > Mario bandwagon. I mean, sure
Samus looked better in the 2k4 stats, but IT'S FREAKING MARIO! the guy
who beat Cloud Strife at the peak of FF7FAQiness. Yes, and that same guy had been beaten by Crono in 2004. --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

I think the main reason Samus was such a big favorite was because
people couldin't shake off Mario's horrible loss to Crono in 2k4. A

Don't forget the fact that she outperformed Mario against Link. During

Samus ever have won over Mario? Because the x-stats pegged her as higher for one year? That's silly. They pegged her higher in EVERY SINGLE YEAR before then. Samus keeps climbing, by the way. How long does the NPH usually last?
Considering the name, I'm thinking around and hour, but it might have
been chosen because it is a snazy name. When did Samus start falling

| I've said it before, and i'll say it again. Just
because people havedeemed this the nintendo power hour doesn't actually
mean that nintendo characters always dominate the hellout of it. | I picked Mario as well, but that match was
anything but obvious. Mario had a bad loss to Crono the year prior,
while Samus absolutely dominated the entire time (her first two matches
projected her to be higher than Cloud)
Then there was the fact that Samus did better than Mario against Link
(there's no such thing as SFF between elites was the common thought).
The only thing Samus had against her was the poor performance of her
games, but, well, look at how well Super Mario 64 stood up to SFF. 2005

And HM and I had a discussion long before the contest was ever
announced that there was a way for Mario to win it all. He'd have to
SFF Samus, and Crono would have to beat Mega Man... and we had both
established that in Mario/Crono, anything was possible... and on the
day the bracket was released, I put Mario > Crono in the finals. Common sense in the context of a gamefaqs setting has characters like sonic losing to characters like samus.
