The votals in this match are crazy right now. And snake appears to be regaining percentage again. This match is absolutely insane... how the **** does Snake boost so
much in one year? SSBB trailer doesn't do it for me. Either way, this
is gonna be incredibly hard to base stats off of. We don't really know
where Samus stands, and now with Snake looking like he could take it to

When it comes to next year, I honestly think we should accept this
contest as having VC-levels of canonity - IE, none at all. Snake's
'roids are looking to screw up the entire bracket, Tifa's
overperformances on Samus and Boss ****s up her division, Bowser is
looking pathetic, as is Leon, Kirby looks terrible (he'd get like 37%
on Sonic now, and 32% on Snake if I'm doing the maths right), Ryu and
Kratos both boosted handily, Yoshi is at Squall's level, Yuna is coming
ridiculously close to Aeris...and there's a whole bunch of stuff I'm
missing, probably. I know the higher votals and possible preference shift might account for SOME of those to some extent, but this contest has simply been too ****ed up for me to take it seriously. The only two matches that I think are wonky are Tifa against Zero Suit
Samus and Yoshi against Sprite Snake. And both of those have reasons to

because he would've had to find some way to lose to Luigi instead! I
say Snake boosted specifically to keep my curse going! That's the most
reasonable explanation! And it's looking probable that my Champion Curse will live on tomorrow if Samus loses! With the exceptions of Tifa/Samus and Yoshi/Snake, I can't think of any
other matches this contest where the results haven't made some sort of
sense. Of course, assuming that Snake actually has boosted -- and I think that's a totally legitimate line of thought, given how Snake has consistently performed in this contest. His only remotely underwhelming performance was against Yoshi in the Sprite Round, and I remember getting into arguments with Ulti before with Snake V Frog and Snake V Bowser regarding how I believe Snake's performances always dip during the Sprite Rounds. Solid **** rounds do have an impact on the contest, and Tifa/Samus and Yoshi/Snake this year have both proven that contest pictures do have a slight impact on character's performances. Stick Samus out of her suit and stick Snake with an old MSX/NES era-sprite, and watch 'em underperform. |

This contest may be a realignment. The big ones that fell the most are
Crono and Mega Man who have both been out of the spotlight for a while
(There's still new Mega Man games, but they're in no way best sellers
or close to it). Maybe that's simply caught up with them. Keep in mind that before Solid Snake beat Mega Man and before Sonic beat Crono, Auron and Sora both did significantly better then excepted against the two Noble Niners. I've said it for several days now, with the influx of casual voters this contest has become more of a "What have you done for me lately?" realignment. Characters with promising next-gen games who are being marketed by the big-name companies (Snake, Sonic) are doing well, whereas characters who have disappeared from the spotlight and have lingered on because of their classic appeal (Mega Man, Crono) are losing a tad of their competitive edge. Meanwhile we have characters like Sora gaining because of new popular games (KH2 has definitely boosted Sora and probably Squall, too, given Squall's prominence in that game -- he was arguably the most influential FF character in both Kingdom Hearts.) It really all makes some level of sense once you analyze it. I don't think Tifa should have gotten 49.5% on Samus, though. A suited Samus would have performed slightly better. |

| Eh, Tifa was the only character in the main bracket with the full Advent Children boost, add her KH2 appearance on to that and she could very well have gone up a considerable amount. |
