*sigh* That's actually one of Snake's pictures from Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX. A game that was not released in America, and that has only gotten significant playership today through MGS3: Subsistence.

Did they design his look after rocky in that game or something?

Sorta. It's kind of like his picture in the original Metal Gear, where it was obviously modeled after Kyle Reese (played by Micheal Biehn) from The Terminator:

Yes, that may have gone too far.

Snake is making very, very sure that he will never be susceptible to upsets from the likes of Bowser again. o_O

If this keeps up we'll be calling for putting him in the sprite round against other Noble Niners just to see if they'll have a chance.

And for the record, with the current percentage Bowser is worth 35.18% on Solid Snake.

For comparison, Frog 2k5 is worth 37.78 on Snake 2004, and 33.77% on Snake 2005.

I find it hard to believe that Snake boosted this much due to a trailer and hype...but apparently, those people were probably right. This result was literally eye-popping!

Hard to believe this is the same guy who put up two of the most pathetic performances ever (Frog and Bowser). He's now putting up some of the most impressive.

Ryu gets 37.48% on Snake this year (and he got 42.74% in 2003).

To compare Ryu and Snake to previous years would mean that we'd have concrete values for them, which we simply don't have. Although we could use a constant Mega Man (isn't he fun!), which puts Ryu at 32.55 on BL, a half point above his peak 2k4 value.

Oh, and Snake is a little higher than Mario but never mind that

Well, what explanation is there for such a ridiculous result?

Gordon Freeman winning a match really DID cause the universe to implode and now GameFAQs has become Bizarro GameFAQs where Snake isn't the ass end of the noble nine and Clinkeroth consists of the three weakest characters in contest history and now Snake will beat Link with 99.99% in the BR final?
Karma Hunter | Posted 11/12/2006 1:06:14 AM | message detail

The sadest thing about this match is that Snake has always been the weakest noble nine character, even if he's the most developed character. Then he shows up in a trailer for the new fanboyfapfest game and.............

My proposed implications

- Snake boosted far beyond the level of Mario.
- Squall was not SFFed.
- Yoshi overperformed because of Solid ****
- Ryu and Kratos somehow boosted madly.
- Vincent remained the same.
- Sonic, Crono and even Mega Man remained about the same.
- Auron remained the same.
- Bowser plummeted like crazy.

A lot of that stuff doesn't match, and unless Samus suffers a similiar defeat, I'd put this down as an overperformance.
---
Smurf. The Cream of Sonic Fanboyism.
creativename | Posted 11/12/2006 1:22:55 AM | message detail
At this point, I think Samus beating Snake would be an even bigger upset than Sonic over Crono.

And I'm assuming that Sonic brings this down 2-3 points during the day.

How do you mean that? Sonic > Crono wasn't that big of an upset according to the board, heck there were more people taking that than Mega Man > Snake (as an aside, the casuals are going to OWN the board if Snake wins this thing). If you mean by prediction percentage...again, Snake's just too good with that.

Honestly, I think the Brawl announcement makes more sense than anything else.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2362
http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2373

E3 happened between those two polls, and Twilight Princess didn't do jack at E3 this year. The big Nintendo announcement was Snake.

It's as good a theory as any other.
