For having such an 'overrated' day vote, Sonic is making mincemeat out of Crono right now.

Heh, nice update there. Good to see my calling a massive day vote win by Sonic came true. Shame there was 1 or 2 people that disagreed. Seems as though a few people have no concept of voting trends.

Why haven't people yet grasped that Ceej has walls in place that stop stuffing before they ever appear in the actual poll results? Every vote now goes through an automatic screening process to ensure that they are coming from an IP which has not yet submitted a vote. That's why a few people were so easily disqualified last contest even though people in contests prior had probably voted twice and still won.

My assumption is that he also has it set to make sure it doesn't match any known proxy IPs.

That doesn't mean that he can catch everything. Sadly, it probably does mean that anything that does get through won't be detected and removed later on.

I'm not saying there is cheating, though I wish some would be found in Sonic's favor, I'm saying that for all the safeguards ceej puts in place this is still the internet, and there's still a way.

wow. okay, I'm saying it - Crono's day vote is FF6-esque. this is pitiful.

how can you be this strong and suck this much in the day? this isn't Sonic kicking ass in the day, he couldn't even do that to Vincent. something happened to Crono this year.

Well yeah, I'm sure a few get through one way or another. And I also have no idea how he handles votes from IPs that are dial-up users that use AOL. Your IP changes every time you sign on, and it's possible to get an IP that someone else had earlier in the day. But still, I doubt any large-scale cheating gets through. He probably does a scan manually to make sure that there was no voting from a proxy he didn't know about, and the AOL method only matters if the match is like Frog vs MC.

I know, but I'm just saying that the chances are very low for someone to successfully cheat and if they do manage, it probably won't be on a large enough scale to effect the results.

The usual 50/50 exchange lead didin't even happen. At this rate Sonic's going be up by well over 1000 before Crono can do anything.

I've never understood why that whole 50/50 handoff thing even happens. It makes more sense that the incoming votes wouldn't really be affected by the fact that the two competitors happen to have the same current number of votes.

Multiple votes from the same proxy isn't the problem (that seems to be how Luster got caught and axed the second time). The problem is basically if someone has a bunch of different IPs they can vote from. I doubt Smurf has an army of zombie PCs or anything, but it's possible.
