Dear Tranny...

Please don't be correct again about how your character (Crono) will get the after school vote and kill my character (Sonic) who has done a removed 1300 votes of Crono's lead. It was awful enough when Samus got the after school vote and killed Tifa's chances for a comeback.

Screw it, I tried catching up, but by the time I do, I'll have to leave again, and those 2 hours away will leave me way behind, so....I'll just live in the moment.

Another nice gain for Sonic.

I'd say that Auron's day vote is better than Sonic's though, now that he's had KH2 and FFXII. And maybe Alucard's day vote is underrated. After all, look at who he lost it to: Sora, Ganon, Auron. And then there's the series contest, when Kingdom Hearts did better with the day against Castlevania than Halo. Oh, and to provide more selective statistics that say Crono will win, from here to the end, Crono lost lost 0.09% against Bowser.

the NPH usually is just a day vote stuck at the beginning of the poll for some reason. Crono won that decisively.

The polls start at 12:00 EST. That means that everyone on the West Coast is still up, which means they can cast their votes at the start of the poll instead of having to wait until the next day to vote. That's all the "Nintendo Power Hour" really is. A part of the day vote is front loaded. Of course, that day vote is still mixed with people who normally vote at that hour... so some night vote strength is still present in that.

From Karma Hunter
Well, I was talking about how he was doing in the NPH relative to how he was doing in the afterschool hours. Crono has had a very nice NPH this year -- not as good as his true night, but that's to be expected -- and he's still stunk up the day vote. Same for Snake this year -- though oddly enough, his most impressive day vote was against Mega Man (or Soma, I guess...but really, Soma?).

Mega Man was never a real beast with the day vote, except in matches where his Iconicness prevailed. Despite their match last year, I would say Yoshi's day:night ratio would be bigger than MM's

And Crono having any worse a day vote this year than any other year is a result of him going up against 2 NIntendo characters and KH2/FF12 roided Auron

Crono went up against Master Chief last year.

exactly, mnm. which is why I wonder why Crono would win it so decisively yet get rocked so bad during the day. it's an anomaly.

not that I expect Crono to actually win the afterschool vote against Sonic.. but anything is possible.

I don't think Vincent is the one that people would have to worry about next year, myself.

So what's the deal here, this is all Sonic boosting, right? Or is Crono actually slightly weaker this year?

Crono didn't seem much weaker, if at all, this year. Both looked about the same this year, so you could attribute this to Sonic getting a slight boost to bring him up to that level.

And he got rocked against Master Chief worse than in any match this year. Crono dropped over 8% in that match.

And yet that's at least comparable to what you might expect, seeing as how it's Master Chief. Crono should not be having similar struggles with freaking Bowser.

I mean, he let Bowser take nearly as much percentage off him as Snake did last year. And if you want to talk about really impressive day showings, let's not forget his 2004 match with Mario where he held the plumber to three updates.

This isn't random variation. Random variation wouldn't account for a 2% difference with these votals. I think it's safe to say that voter influx helped the iconic Sonic (lol rhyme) boost a wee bit. Getting 60% on a Luigi that manhandled both Zero and Kirby is no joke.

Well, Snake/Mega Man confirmed that a character can be stronger off of just hype (can we please throw out the whole Zelda Collector's Edition was the reason for Link 2k4 and not the TP trailer <_<;). Although I think that Snake/Mega Man was also partially due to voters aware of this contest's history pushing for Snake to get over the hump against Mega Man. So a combination of SSBB/MGS4 and a Snake > Mega Man "bandwagon" so to speak.

While Sonic doesn't have SSBB or MGS4 in his favor, his next-gen games have been getting moderate buzz (not all good though), but at least he's back on the scene. I wouldn't dare try to say Sonic Rush is the reason for this, as all of Mega Man's releases this year did nothing for him.

WRONG!!!!

The average voter (and even the average bracketeer) know nothing about past contests outside of Link and FF7 characters being dominant.

And I still take Mario comfortably over Sonic. Last year proved that with these higher votals, Mario is now out of Crono's league. I'd say the NN looks something like this after these results:

Link
Cloud
-
Sephiroth
-
-
Mario
-
-
Samus
Snake
-
Crono
Sonic
Mega Man
