So this match is King of Day Votes vs King of Day Votes, wonder who will do better during the day. After seeing Sora vs Megaman match, Snake can now be considered the favourite but calling Snake>Megaman a lock is just plain wrong. --- I am a Singaporean and I hope Snake will beat Megaman. |

I think this match should be pretty consistant, with Sonic doing a tad
better in the morning and Luigi doing a tad better with the afterschool

After seeing Crono skunk Bowser, I think it's safe to say he hasn't
lost a step since last year, so Sonic winning that match would have to

I don't take anything out of a Mario/Sonic matchup after the weirdness
that happened in Mario/Shadow, or Sonic 2/SMW if you want to go that
far out. Luigi could have gotten 49% here and I wouldn't have been
calling for Crono to be a lock to win. same if Sonic doubles Luigi. --- xyzzy |

The final result probably won't be much different than what we're
seeing now, so... it looks like there was no Mario character boost at
-all-, unless you think Yoshi increased in strength...but it's
impossible to tell looking at last year. Oh, and when looking forward to Solid Snake vs. Mega Man... keep in mind that measuring Snake through 2K5 Dante brings Snake up to 38.63% on BL...eep, even higher if you think Snake was hurt by his sprite. If shadow's 45% on mario really has something to do with him getting an
extra boost for people seeing it as a sort of sonic vs mario,how do you
explain him beating Wario by like 65%? i really think shadow was very strong in 2003,then he fell on 2004 for whatever reason. either that or wario is fodder |

I dunno,i just think people underestimate shadow a bit.he did win the
popularity poll on sega IIRC,and he also won the ''who do you want to
star in a game as main character?'' poll by a landslide (though it
sadly resulted in his mediocre game being released) he's also getting a main role in the next gen games,further proving that he is liked among the sonic fanbase I just think he fell coinsiderably from 2003 to 2004,and he would probably have boosted along with knuckles and sonic himself in 2005. |

so I was just swimming in NGamer's archives and found Ceej's topic
about the Villain Contest - am I the only one that doesn't remember
this at all? * Characters nominated should be villains: an enemy character in a video game. While not necessarily the final boss, the nominated villain should be someone the player must battle as part of the game. "Evil" protagonists (Kratos from God of War), friendly rivals (Knuckles from the Sonic series), or villains-turned-allies (Magus from Chrono Trigger) aren't really "villains", although characters that are villains in one game but allies/heroes in another are fair game (Dr. Robotnik, Donkey Kong). we coulda had one more non-fodder entry! everyone would have been like "huh?????" --- xyzzy |

These vote totals are starting to annoy me. Matches as boring as Auron
vs Sub-Zero and Mega Man vs Sora don't deserve to be above Mario/Crono

Yeah trans, everyone assumed DK was a lock to make it in, with that
text right there on the nomination form. I still find it hard to
believe that he didn't get the nominations... seems more likely that

Oh yeah, I remember why we thought DK was such a lock. The nomination
form for Summer 04 had included a reminder to name both your character
and what game/series they were from, and the example CJay used was "so
I know if you mean Ryu (Street Fighter) or Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja
Gaiden)." Then the Ryu from NG went and earned himself a huge 3 seed
(under the old seeding system, mind you) so everyone assumed it was

Diablo maybe, but there's no way he jobs to Kefka. If worst comes to worst, they'd both choke. Only other guy that comes to mind that he could lose in hilarious fashion against is Liquid. Wow. Luigi doesn't seem to be drawing any SFF here, and he sure as hell
doesn't seem to be acting like a Mario proxy, which begs the question:
what happened in 2003? My god, this site must have wanted Mario's head

That was discussed during Villain Contest nominations, but I think most
people didn't nominate him just because it seemed lame to have him in a
villain contest. Although personally I consider Mario a villain after
he cheated a win against Crono in 2003. (Not to mention the extremely

I dunno, I think people would have viewed Mario as a threat, it's friggin' Mario
and all that. the antivoting, I would assume, happened because everyone
