How could Bowser be turd of the round? You could only consider him a turd if you were expecting him to be a NN breaker. As for Mega Man, perhaps his match was some freaky "Capcom-badass" rSFF <_< >_> >_< Now I want to see MM/Dante >_> TuRtLe ~~~ 55/62 in the contest. Oh, and I daresay that Aeris' performance was the worst of the round.
MM's wasn't great, but Aeris has no excuse. A game selling 80,000
copies doesn't exactly reek of boost to me, especially when it's the
3rd installment in a story heavy game. It's not like new players are
really being drawn in there. --- Hooray Beer, Hooray Proxies! |

You could only consider him a turd if you were expecting him to be a NN breaker. expecting her to do better because they figured Tifa/Vyse was some sort
of factor other than Vyse falling off the map. TuRtLe ~~~ 55/62 in the contest. My analysis topic here: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=30498383&page=1 |

Aeris did worse than Ryu. It was pretty bad. Mega Man/Ryu is bad if you
took Bowser/Ryu at face value, which I never did. I expected him to
break 40% and he didn't surprise me. That's what he does. --- Captain Jack Sparrow's Run to the NCAA Character Contest II Championship: Week 5: W, 35-15 vs. Darkwing Duck |
Karma Hunter | Posted 10/28/2006 9:47:26 PM | message detail |
Honestly, if anything was embarrassing it was how downright bad
Crono's day vote ended up being against him. After Bowser barely made
any movement at all against Leon Kennedy, you'd think Crono wouldn't
just bomb like that against probably the worst of all Nintendo day
votes. Bowser is still projected to get a lil' over 46% against his 2k5 value, and still projected to beat characters like Zelda...if you were expecting another Frog there *ahem* it just didn't happen. --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

I would call Squall the Turd before Bowser -- Squall had KH2 (whereas
Bowser had increased DS ownership) and was lookin' to prove 2002 was
BS, yet we saw what happened in their rematch. I think we all
considered Squall and Bowser to be even last year and Squall had better
reason to gain and was out to prove himself against a former opponent,
yet he does (barely) worse against a (probably) weaker Noble Nine
member this round. SFF or not, Squall had his chance to shine and was coming hot off of pounding Tidus...and failed. I wouldn't expect that to show his true strength, but he failed alot worse to me than Bowser did. --- http://wemajor12.myrockinprofile.com/ Next celebrity I hope to out-rank: Adam Sandler (#1) |

Bowser's performance on Crono really wasn't bad. Hell, he even
outperformed the Oracle consensus by a whopping 0.36 points. It's not
like his final percentage was surprising to anyone. We all knew he was
overrated, and it ended up being by a reasonable amount. Mega Man, Squall and Aeris each disappointed. Though I don't think anyone this round really merits being called a 'turd'. Nobody disappointed that badly. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

Totally forgot about Aeris, but I didn't think KOS-MOS 2005 was legit, so I wasn't shocked or anything. Geez, no one stands out for turd. I can think of alot of characters who did worse than expected, but nothing turd-worthy. --- Moltar Status: Feeling good and hot-blooded. Auron vs. Sub-Zero- Bracket: Auron - Vote: Auron (54/62) |

Oh, Aeris. I did forget about her. Yeah, when she undershoots all projections against KOS-MOS using her 2003 value, she just sucked. Hard. --- "Let's face it: the princess Zelda has always been a symbol of sexual desire." |

Forgot about Aeris, though her bombing was nowhere near as severe as
MM's or the three I listed. I think alot of people here were only
expecting her to do better because they figured Tifa/Vyse was some sort
of factor other than Vyse falling off the map. God, would you shut the hell up about Vyse falling off the map already? If he was going to fall off the map he would have done it well before 2K5, he got SFFed, just give it up already. Now moving on, Terra and Joanna are just fodder, getting owned harder than you should isn't really bad, if you're already ass, you can't get much worse. Calling those two turds certainly isn't deserving. They were pathetic sure, but not surprisingly pathetic. Bowser, had every reason to be overrated, and only ends up looking slightly overrated last year, just because he absolutely bombed in the beginning doesn't mean he is a turd, trends don't determine strength, finishing % does. Squall? Jesus, some people really need to get over the fact that SFF can occur in matches outside of the same game or company. Aeris had every damn reason to overperform on KOS-MOS in here match with her, and she performs like complete and utter crap. --- Hooray Beer, Hooray Proxies! |

In no particular order: Stars: Luigi (for making the sweet sixteen for the first time against two tough opponents) Yoshi (for defeating Dante in a close match after looking like a huge underdog after Round 1) Vincent Valentine (for solidifying his position as the strongest non-noble niner by getting 48% on Sonic) Ryu (for keeping his streak of breaking 40% on all his opponents) Sub-Zero (for becoming one of the biggest nomination rally successes in contest history) Gordon Freeman (for avoiding the doubling against a KH2-infused Sora) Lara Croft (for putting up 45% on Chun-Li, showing that she isn't the uber fodder 2004 made her out to be) Jill Valentine (for having arguably the best match of the contest thus far and doing much better than most expected) Princess Peach (for showing that she does have enough strength to be above the fodder line when so many - including myself - counted her out) Turds: Mega Man (for his underwhelming performance against Ryu) Bowser (for showing that he really was overrated against Crono) Aeris (for doing about as well as Ryu did on KOS-MOS, which doesn't look good for her match against Zelda) Dante (for losing a match against Yoshi in which he was the heavy favorite after round 1) The female bracket fodder (Ada Wong, Terra, Joanna, The Boss, etc.) (for getting crushed harder than most expected) --- Currently Playing: Okami, King of Fighters 2002/2003, Gradius V |

I would call Squall the Turd before Bowser -- Squall had KH2
(whereas Bowser had increased DS ownership) and was lookin' to prove
2002 was BS, yet we saw what happened in their rematch. Yeah, Squall let Snake overperform by 8% less. Honestly, Snake got fortunate that he got stuck in the division with the one Noble Nine breaking threat who couldn't beat him. Snake overperformed. Don't blame that on Squall. I know I picked Squall in the Analysis Crew Guest write-up, but that was because I had nothing to lose for it. I said that there was a very real threat of a Snake overperformance from the beginning, and that's what happened. The fact that Squall lessened it by 8% speaks more FOR him than against him, in my opinion. I think we all considered Squall and Bowser to be even last year and Squall had better reason to gain and was out to prove himself against a former opponent, yet he does (barely) worse against a (probably) weaker Noble Nine member this round. ...Because Snake overperformed. Put Squall against Crono, and he does better than Bowser did. SFF or not, Squall had his chance to shine and was coming hot off of pounding Tidus...and failed. I wouldn't expect that to show his true strength, but he failed alot worse to me than Bowser did. Then you expected too much from Squall. I kept saying the possibility of overperformance was very real. I just kept hoping wasn't going to rear its head because I thought the two were close enough in strength. --- Captain Jack Sparrow's Run to the NCAA Character Contest II Championship: Week 5: W, 35-15 vs. Darkwing Duck |
