According to those percentages posted, Kirby won the early vote, not
the night vote. It was the same percentage in the morning as at night.
Actually, the way this is going, I bet Luigi gets down around 51-52% of
the incoming votes after-school, like the early vote. --- Take off every sig. |

I would think Bowser is too prominent in the Nintendo games to lose to
Luigi. Obviously Luigi is prominent too, but I still think Bowser would

Bowser beats Luigi down. The way Bowser clowns Luigi in M&L:SS is priceless. Right, I understand and agree with that, but I was curious what game does him the most good strength-wise aside from his iconic stature. Well, as for a game making their character popular, I'd have to say SMRPG for Bowser and either M&L:SS or SSBM for Luigi. Luigi is hilarious in both. PM:TTYD also seems to draw Luigi some fans for his story. But still none of that compares to Luigi's status as a gaming icon in general... One thing can't really define his popularity in the same way that it would for Mario or Mega Man. Basically it's just Luigi doing better on Kirby than Bowser did. But I think Luigi > Yoshi. Not sure about Yoshi vs Kirby. --- Take off every sig. |

Don't look now, but Kirby has won 2 of the last 3 updates, and Luigi's
hasn't really made much progress in 40 minutes. Seeing how Kirby
actually cut votes off of Bowser's lead with the afterschool vote until
the end of the match, and Luigi is already slowing before the
afterschool vote really begins, Kirby may yet make this respectable,
and cut the lead under 2000 by midnight. And a DK/DH situation is not
entirely impossible, taking into account Luigi lost percentage to
Ratchet, Squall, and Zero toward the end, and SSB cut SMB's percentage

...what game is Luigi most popular for? I know Mario is most popular
for SMB3, but would you say the same for Luigi? How about Bowser? I
would think it's safe to say SMW for Yoshi and I would guess SMB2 for
Princess, but the game that helps Luigi out the most seems like a
puzzle to me...I feel obligated to say SMB1, honestly. SMB2, I would think... at least, that's when I became a Luigi fan. I don't know why you'd say SMB1, since he does absolutely nothing to distinguish himself there - he is just a palate swap there. --- ....TCELES B HSUP |

And as I mentioned before, the trends in Sonic/Luigi will be very
interesting. They seem to share the exact same trends, but who will do
better when should be worth watching. How close can Luigi get in that

| Kirby was outright beating Bowser at this point,
while Luigi is still pulling in a comfortable 51-52% of the vote. I'd
be surprised if Luigi's final margin ends up below Bowser's given what

Luigi's Mansion wasn't a bad game though. Plus, Luigi has basically
been in every Mario game anyway. Just because he doesn't have a
starring role except a couple of times doesn't mean he doesn't have his
fair share of fans. I always preferred Luigi to Mario long before the
two were anything but palette swaps. Everybody loves an underdog! Plus, Luigi was AWESOME on the Super Mario Brothers Super Show! I'd bet that Bowser got a lot of his popularity from "King Koopa" of the cartoon series. with that. Just surprising. And adding to what I said before, having your own game hardly guarantees anything, especially when you talk about a character from a series as popular as Super Mario Bros. Sephiroth doesn't have his own game... does that mean he wouldn't rip Tidus or Yuna a new one? Kirby may have his own series, but said series doesn't have anything on the Mario series as a whole. For the record, if Kirby 2005 is entirely accurate and there is no
over/underperformance of any sort, Luigi would be expected to get

Yeah, let's not automatically assume that the proxy-ism goes in favor of Luigi. I would go with Sonic to overperform. I think Sonic is expected to do

I give plenty more credence to Shadow over-performing against Mario
than SMW over-performing against Sonic 2, so I'd say Sonic would
over-perform before Mario would...but I wouldn't expect a big variation

In 2002-2004, I could very well see Sonic having beaten Mario.
2005-2006 however is a totally different story - if Mario and Sonic

If Sonic had faced Mario in 2003, how would you have expected him to do? Of course, times have changed now (I really doubt Shadow gets 45% on Mario today), but I think Sonic can still more or less hold his own. --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

And for the record, I don't think the difference is in the Nintendo
boost or anything like that (which you can make an argument for helping
Sonic in 2005 as well ANYWAY)...I just don't think Mario gets
anti-voted like he used to anymore. The Crono match in 2004 was
probably a blessing for Mario in that it removed a lot of that mystique
that he had around him...no one likes to hate on an underdog. He's

Judging by the Zero's and Kirby's performances, Kirby vs. Zero would go
as I would've expected last year. Flukes? Is it all Luigi's growth, and
that he would 55/45 his past self? If the latter's the case, Zero
probably didn't drop...then why should Mega Man? But, then, just
-think- how popular Kratos and Leon Kennedy would be compared to their
former selves if Mega Man didn't fall, due to making Ryu (and thus
Bowser) look better... we'll get a better idea of that when Bowser
faces Crono tomorrow, probably. Well, there's one thing we can learn today. If notable SFF occurs in one match, you can't assume it to be similar in another comparable match...unless Bowser = Luigi or something. What is it about Kirby that makes the votals suck ass? Not even Luigi

It doesn't make sense to me for strong characters to be bad vote
draws... I've never been able to make any sense of it. I'm well aware
