Out of curiosity, assuming a constant Sonic and Crono, what would Crono have to get on Sonic for 2k5 Bowser to be legit?

You know, there's always been the possibility that Snake was the overrated one for the Mario match. After all, there was a big rush of MGS4 news that came out right as that match happened -- that's when we got the news of Old Snake, if you'll recall.

Sure, that makes Vivi and especially Zelda make no sense, and Sora is even more pathetic, but, err...yeah.

If Ryu is legit last year, and DD was overrated, that puts Mega Man below Bowser at around 30-32% on BL.

So yeah, unless you want to believe MM dropped that much, something fishy happened with Ryu.

UltimaterializerX, Bowser did better than Megaman against Ryu and we all agreed that Bowser was overated last year. Btw, many people love to say Bowser overperformed in that match but didn't Ryu performed badly against Rikku in 2005 too.

Zelda is the only Nintendo character I'd put in the boost group. Luigi looks relatively constant if Bowser was as overrated as this match is showing and Zero dropped. Yoshi we have NEVER had a good read on so it's impossible to tell with him.

Bowser isn't declining, really. He's just overrated.

You know, there's always been the possibility that Snake was the overrated one for the Mario match. After all, there was a big rush of MGS4 news that came out right as that match happened -- that's when we got the news of Old Snake, if you'll recall.

I think that's really stretching it. It's a whole heck of a lot easier to just say that he underperformed on Bowser in the sprite round. I mean, we have seen this before (Hello, Frog!).

Leon kind of refutes this on AIM, but what Squall did against Snake this contest lines up perfectly with what 2003 Squall scores on 2005 Snake in the stats.

So... is Snake really slated to beat Mega Man? I doubt it.

Dante 41.05% 36,692
Crono 58.95% 52,701
TOTAL VOTES 89,394

Considering that Yoshi>Dante and Bowser>Yoshi, one has to assume that Bowser would do far better than 41.05 in this match. Granted, Bowser could pull this to 43 or so by the end, but it's still under expectations.

Surprising result here.

After arguing for a while that Bowser was extremely overrated because of Solid ****, I was basically told I was an idiot (OMG THERE IS NO PROOF OF SOLID **** AT ALL!). Now, you all are accepting it like it was completely logical from the moment it happened.

Got to love this group here.

Anything that the X-Stats can't explain have to be explained away by silly factors other than "human beings just change their minds sometimes". I don't get it. I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, but humans aren't robots.

Squall has reason to have boosted, do some math... and you realize Snake must've as well.

Last years Snake wasn't too far off of MM, give snake a boost, give MM a little drop... and you can see WHY one might think this will be interesting.

Not mention the poll the day before the contest started.

2003 Squall being legit implies things like LInk not SFFing Samus at all, Luigi being below Donkey Kong, and Tifa being above Vincent last year -- and this year as well, come to think of it, hello KH2.

Or that Tifa is stronger than Vincent, since Snake would be projected to beat Vincent by as much as Sonic beat Tifa prior to the AC boost, which would then be very big.

In other words, watch out, Samus! You might not even get to Crono!

OH! Come to think about it, since Crono and Mario have this awesome feud going on here, there must be SFF in this match!

Looks like Bowser wasn't overrated at all, it's just SFF doing it's dirty business.

I like how Soul thinks that he was in some kind of minority in thinking Bowser was overrated. Or that he has a leg to stand on when he mocked Sub-Zero > Master Chief as being the next Star Ocean > Pokemon style upset -- because MC couldn't be massively overrated, heavens no!

And it also reminds me about how EVERYONE in this topic said that Peach was going to be uber fodder and we all had her losing to Jill (but somehow had Peach winning in our brackets imagine that). And how we were all pathetic fools to have Samus over Mario even though it was the most debated match of the contest and even the biggest Mario supporters only had him winning with 54% or so (Lopen doesn't count). Or...

This is reminiscent of Zero/Mario where I was looking for Zero to hit 45% on Mario and then was crushed. I didn't even want to set myself up by having those expectations for Bowser.
