We'll see who'll be pointing and laughing after a certain someone (Ganondorf) ranks higher than a certain someone else (Squall) in the stats when it's all said and done! Rank is SO much more important than number of wins (especially when the win is from a chump named Tidus)!

Uh, that's pretty much inevitable. Snake would have to be way above Sonic for it to be otherwise. There is this little thing called SFF that keeps Squall down a bit.

Speaking of which, what'll be the best way to adjust Squall? Squall 2k6 = Squall 2k5/Auron 2k6, whichever's higher?

Luigi never performs well with expectations. He gets stage fright, it seems. Some people think KOS-MOS can pull an upset? BAM, doubling. Most expect Tifa to whip Luigi? Does very respectably. Few people seem to think he'll beat Zero? Wins easily.

Heh, I like Kirby better than Luigi (although I don't really like either of them at all), but it'd be cool to see Zero > Kirby. So I'm hoping that either Kirby wins, or Luigi beats Kirby worse than he beat Zero.

Match XLVI: (3) Kirby vs. (2) Luigi

Previous Matches

Kirby
Defeated The Prince of Persia, 61.70% - 38.30%

Luigi
Defeated Zero, 53.71% - 46.29%

Analysis:

Last round Kirby didn’t really destroy PoP like what most people were expecting to, sure he’s a new character, but unless PoP is the new Kratos Kirby shouldn’t have let him get that close. Now Luigi winning may have been a board upset, but the casuals didn’t have a problem calling this match for Luigi. Luigi didn’t have a problem getting almost 54% against Zero. Luigi did so well against Zero that he is the favorite at winning today’s match despite having the least board bracket support between the three characters.

This is the third and final hyped match of the round. From the impression of the board it looks like Luigi has become the huge favorite at taking the match from his impressive performance against Zero to being all but proven that the Dream Division was overrated last year. That doesn’t mean that Kirby is out of it and has no chance at winning because he still has a good chance at winning.

First let’s take a second look at Luigi’s performance against Zero. If you saw Yoshi/Dante you saw Dante losing to Yoshi despite doing much better against Hayabusa than Zero did. This could mean that Zero may have been overrated last year and Luigi’s impressive win doesn’t look all that impressive anymore. I don’t believe that this is all Zero’s drop, but I do think that Zero is more overrated than Luigi boosted.

While still on the subject of Luigi boosting I do think he has gotten some kind of boost from the rise in DS popularity and being in some of the most popular DS games. Kirby will probably get some kind of a boost as well, but it won’t be near as big as what Luigi will be getting (which IMO is smaller than what some people think).

The biggest reason that I took Kirby over Luigi was his performance against Bowser. Last year Kirby was expected to get SFF hard by Bowser, but instead he didn’t get Bowser to too much of a lead and was able to slice off a couple hundred votes with the day vote ending with just under 48%. If that was Kirby’s real strength I think he would be the favorite going into the match, but some people think that Kirby overperformed against Bowser and while I do agree with those people, but what’s going to stop Kirby from overperforming against Luigi. I don’t see why Nintendo fans would abandon Bowser for Kirby but not Luigi. So in the end Kirby ends up looking good in both scenarios.

I’m think this match is going to be like Vincent/Squall where both characters go almost 50/50 throughout the day with no character getting much of an advantage over the other during any time of day. If either Kirby or Luigi were to get a lead of 1000 I think that would be more than enough to win the match so whoever has some kind of a lead after the bracket vote will probably be the favorite to take the match.

I was completely serious !!

Yoshi > Snake would both make me ecstatic and enraged. Snake breaking the noble 9 would be horrible, and I like him more than any other character, but at the same time it would make Dante look sweet as hell. The real best case scenario is Snake > Yoshi with <51% and Snake > MM.

I don't disagree. I'd probably give Yoshi 45-46% myself.

Vincent still on pace to hit 48%. He needs to increase about 1.5% per update from here on out. Push baby!

The reason why I think Snake isn't going to struggle with Yoshi in the slightest and why I think he may have boosted is two-fold.

1.) Squall's 'advantage' in the day was minimal. He only impressed during the morning vote, which is what he used to get that brief but sweet lead on Luigi. And sure Squall's not exactly a day beast himself, but he held up a hell of a lot better against Knuckles than Snake did.

2.) Holy hell look at those votals. The only SFF match that I think is comparable to that is LoZ/Metroid, and Snake's not the most powerful force this contest has ever seen. The less SFF there is, the stronger that makes Snake look...
