| Considering Bowser =< Solid < Sonic =<
Mega Man last year and Bowser got just shy of 60% against Ryu, 62%
couldn't have been crazy for Mega Man... ...however, failing to match Bowser's performance last year is crazy too. Yeesh...hell, although Mega Man's about to change this, he's still behind what Solid Snake did in 2k3 to Ryu. Has there EVER been a time where MM hasn't gotten rSFFd by a strong
Capcom character? Zero, Leon, and now Ryu...MM seems to be unable to
SFF characters in his own company. And yet, he does the exact opposite

The 40% club as of now (people who've been in at least two contests): Link Cloud Strife Sephiroth Solid Snake Bowser Kirby Ryu Aeris Gainsborough Jill Valentine Shadow the Hedgehog Characters who will be in after this year: Vincent Valentine Kratos Riku Tifa Lockhart Claire Redfield Unfortunately, the 40% club lost one of its most distinguished members this year, since Gordon Freeman failed to break 40% on Sora. It could flop as much as SMS is a flop. Not much, but the potential
to not even come close to living up to expectations is there. From what I'm hearing, EGM's scores in their next issue for TP are going to be all perfect. IGN is looking like they'll be handing out a big ol' 10 for TP come review time. GameSpot is without a doubt looking like a 9.5+ for TP... The bar Nintendo set for TP was Ocarina of Time. Their goal was to surpass that game in every way they could -- far deeper and better storyline, more dungeons, far better gameplay, Link always being a badass (Aonuma wasn't allowed to put Link into a situation where would ever look "foolish"), and the game is enormous. The expectations are indeed large, but TP is going to live up to the hype about as well as it can. Whenever I watch one of those long trailers about the game, I always think "Man, this is the peak in gaming." AND THAT KIND OF FEELING IS BOTH AWESOME AND DEPRESSING!! --- The Master Sword is the most sought-after blade in Hyrule. He who wields it carries with him the hope of the kingdom. |

Sure Gamespot and IGN will jerk off to it in their reviews and everyone will pretend its better for a while like they did WW, but when everythings said and done OOT will still come out on top. --- Can't think of a good sig. |

I will here what I posted in another topic,and I expect you guys to prove me wrong "Seems like everyone is taking Bowser performance on Ryu last year too far Samus-57.85 Snake-57.29% Sonic-55.54 Bowser-58.98 See? if only Megaman match was before Bowser's,no one would say he is "underperfoming". And then came the Bowser/Snake match,and Bowser got 49.41% on Snake. And what was everyone excuse? "Sprite Round" ....yeah...like Megaman has a pic advantage here >_>" --- laff |

I doubt that many people are seriously expecting it to be better than OOT. Especially not when the main version of the game forces you to use a remote. You could say MM SFF'd Leon since it would make what Bowser got on him

Leon boosted because of the PS2 version of RE4. The only thing that
really feels odd about the equation is how badly Bowser beat Ryu, but

I doubt that many people are seriously expecting it to be better than OOT. If it isn't better than OoT, I'll eat my hat. Nintendo made this game in mind to surpass Ocarina of Time in every way. I don't think anyone at Nintendo thinks they've made a better game than Twilight Princess (four years of development and spending more money than they have on game development will probably do that >>) and I really don't doubt them. OoT is a fantastic game that surpasses pretty much everything...but you can't help but feel it will be better. Can't say for certain now, but if it's a better game, the only thing stopping it will be nostalgia. --- The Master Sword is the most sought-after blade in Hyrule. Mega Man has SFFed exactly one Nintendo character before. But you can't honestly think that Yoshi is the one and only Ninty character that MM would have SFF with? I'd expect wierd things with at least every Mario Bros. character in an MM match, and Link clearly SFF'd him, so there'd clearly be SFF in an MM/Ganon match (and lets be honest, MM gets just about all of it). Not sure about if he could SFF Samus, and it looks like we'll never know... --- Z1mZum owned me in the guru contest (by two points!). Damn you Z1mZum! |

I think TP will be better than WW. That's it. Anyone who sets up a game
to be the best thing ever is usually going to be disappointed, so I try

Just don't be disappointed if TP isn't the best thing ever. Do I expect it to be good? Yeah. Better than WW was at least. Do I expect it to be great? Yeah. Maybe. I dunno... MM really has his ass in gear here. He can potentially match
what Bowser did to Ryu or better if he keeps it up, and while not what

OoT is definitely better than TWW and MM.
TWW is right on the outskirts of top 10 for me, too, but there were
issues with it that prevented it from being a better game despite doing
quite a few things better. From what I've seen and heard of TP, it sounds like Ocarina of Time on a serious case of steroids. And then they add the "new" in with the controls and Wolf Link. I can't help but be insanely hyped after that. After Nintendo came out and said TWW was rushed and they made plenty of "mistakes" with the game, I had a much increased confidence in them pumping out the game. They have the most talented group of individuals working on the game -- Shigeru Miyamoto, Eiji Aonuma, and the rest of EAD. The people who work on Zelda are the best of the best. And regardless, this is going to be huge for Link, Ganon, and Zelda next year. --- The Master Sword is the most sought-after blade in Hyrule. Oh no it's too late Snake has it won because he clobbered an unknown
and hammered a guy he beat down a lot worse a long time ago. Seriously
though Ryu don't go through all that work just to get jobbed by the

Oh, and for kicks, if Ryu has returned to his 2004 level, Mega Man is
only underperforming by 1.5%, which he may be able to make up by the
end of the match. Also, that means Kratos is between 2005 Leon and Vivi (around 27.50% on BL), which is nearly a 8% boost from 2005. Now, we know he's underrated, but even with that and a boost, that's still really big. Perhaps using 2003 Ryu would be better, but Mega Man would have to break 60% to look at his 2005 value. That means Kratos goes up 6% factoring in possibly being underrated and boosting. Oh, and the only reason I say possibly is because both 2005 Sora and Alucard seem legit looking at results this Contest, but it's hard to deny there wasn't something in Snake/Sora... --- Moltar Status: Feeling good and hot-blooded. Snake/Sora was probably just Snake getting his first awesome match
pic...ever. Plus, Snake seems like the type of character people would
vote over Sora anyway. Badass vs. annoying kid? And there might be some

Snake/Crono on SSBB launch day would not be the most opportune time for
Snake at all. The hype for the game won't be for Snake, and Nintendo
fans not familiar with Snake already would be better off getting a
chance to know him, and play with him rather than on the launch day of

Four main dungeons and almost all the character models being taken
directly from OOT does not make it a better all around game to me. The
fact that it isn't traditional Zelda doesn't help it either. I liked
MM, but I don't see how it could be considered the superior game. That Kafei/Anju sidequest did not take that long to beat and hardly made up for the game being shorter either. --- Can't think of a good sig. |
