Mega Man and Bowser's percentages by the hour against Ryu: Time | Bowser | Mega Man 00:00 | 52.39% | 23:00 | 52.71% | 22:00 | 54.25% | 21:00 | 52.68% | 20:00 | 54.46% | 19:00 | 56.38% | 18:00 | 55.36% | 17:00 | 56.93% | 16:00 | 57.76% | 15:00 | 57.85% | 14:00 | 58.69% | 13:00 | 59.50% | 12:00 | 60.03% | 11:00 | 61.86% | 10:00 | 61.65% | 09:00 | 63.66% | 08:00 | 63.75% | 07:00 | 63.40% | 06:00 | 62.56% | 05:00 | 58.28% | 04:00 | 57.49% | 03:00 | 55.93% | 55.18% 02:00 | 55.84% | 59.01% 01:00 | 56.97% | 60.46% Mega Man actually did better the first two hours than Bowser did, and only a little worse once the night vote hit full force. The Blue Bomber is currently significantly under the King's 4:00 margin, but he should make it up in the morning and throughout the day by being a little better than Bowser. This night vote isn't *quite* as bad as it looks, is what I'm driving at. --- Mustache...and green... http://www.rit.edu/~zmb0386/Top100.pdf |

I'd be shocked if Snake wasn't the bracket favorite in that match. It's
the reason why I laughed in the face of whoever suggested that Snake's
bracket support was the reason why he crushed Squall that bad. Snake ALWAYS has overwhelming bracket support, no matter who he's up against. Crono over Snake 2002 and Mega Man over Snake 2003 are among THE worst prediction percentages ever. Snake getting 80% over Soma, Tidus, and Squall is nothing for him. You'll find few characters who can enjoy a 70% support over the likes of Manny, Vivi, and Zelda. Snake > Mega Man isn't a pick to get ahead of the casual brackets, it's a pick to get ahead of you ****ers. <_< --- *kills self Commit it to memory. |

Mario/Crono has happened every year since the contest was created.
Snake/Mega Man has happened twice, and we haven't seen it in a year.
Mario/Crono 2k4 to 2k5 had just as big a shift as what Snake needs, and
neither had any notable releases -- just a voter shift. Some could consider the Nintendo DS and all that entails a significant new release. Yeah, but not from characters who've already fought, and that's an important distinction. Gordon/Tina is one example, but are you really going to take Knuckles over Snake next time they meet? Because comparing Snake/Knuckles to Snake/Mega Man makes so much sense. They've met several times over the years. It's not that abject of a comparison. Sometimes things change, and othertimes things don't. Yoshi/Luigi might be a better example for me to use. Luigi might get stronger than Yoshi, but do you really think the group of voters changes that much to skew a fairly decided result? ...Yoshi and Luigi inherently entail SFF Exactly how overlapping do you think Snake and MM's fanbases are? It doesn't have to solely with their shared bases. It also has to do with the clear preference of voters. Barring Mario/Crono and Link/Cloud, have we seen any other matches overturn...ever? I can't recall at this late hour. Soma's untested. Spin. It's also a fact. Playstation SFF. Spin. Because Snake/Sora and MGS/FFVII didn't show that something could be up when the two interact. KH2 character, Spin. Again, because Axel isn't a new KH2 character? and don't even include bad match last year for Ryu, if you aren't willing. ...wha? I said not to consider the possibility of Ryu having one bad performance against Bowser as a reason if you weren't willing to entertain it. There's only 'more' if you choose to see 'more'. I'm not going to argue this with you, spin doctor, I'd rather wait for the match. Mega Man's still the favorite in my eyes, but all you seem intent on doing is downplaying Snake's chances. That about says it all to me. Yeah, and I can just as easily say, There's only less if you choose to take things at strict face value. I'm not going to argue this with you, mgs fanboy. I'd rather wait for the match. Mega Man's still the favorite in my eyes, but all you seem intent on doing is displaying match results to favor Snake. That about says it all to me. Really, those "spins" aren't that big of spins. How much has really changed since Snake's been by and far the marked weakest member of the noble nine and most likely to break to suddenly he's going to contend with Megaman, and therefore Sonic and Crono? I haven't seen enough to really start worrying about Snake/Megaman, I'll give it to next round, but like I said earlier, even that's going to be hazy. I'm willing to admit there's enough evidence for the bandwagon to exist, but I"m not nearly willing enough to jump on it myself or endorse it over other bandwagons. --- Revenge is a dish best served by Z1mZum in the 2k6 Series Guru Contest. |

over Cloud yet -- 55% !! Believe. --- The Master Sword is the most sought-after blade in Hyrule. He who wields it carries with him the hope of the kingdom. |

Hell yeah go Ryu! Show us that 2005 was just a bad year. Oh and it's no surprise that Ryu wins some updates right now, if memory serves me right, he had the lead over Sonic for 1 hour. heh, if you want to talk about poor years, go look at 2k3 Sonic -

Karma Hunter | Posted 10/25/2006 1:01:31 AM | message detail |
As an interesting note, Link had 72.17% or so of the brackets taking
him to the Final Four in 2003...I can only imagine what his PP against
Cloud was in 2003. No other non Noble Nine character has ever managed to have the lead on a noble nine character that long. No other non-Noble has EVER had a sustained lead on a Noble Niner, period. Ryu's performance on Sonic is the glimmer of hope here for Mega Man...though that's still hardly a very impressive Sonic. heh, if you want to talk about poor years, go look at 2k3 Sonic - undoubtedly the worst NN year of all. yeah, agreed. I see a gulf between 9 and 10 right now unless Vincent

You were right about the first part. MM has performed on his

I wonder if that crappy picture has anything to do with MM's
performance here. probably not, but it's possible. plus it's just
impossible to make Ryu look bad. man, there is going to be some considerable whining if Snake gets a sprite picture vs. Mega Man and he loses. while it would be good for my bracket, I'd hate to see a year of uncertainty thanks to that. --- xyzzy |
