Man, those stats will be so more accurate when Samus tears through the rest of the female bracket. Nidoran F will easily be the #1-#3 placer of the first round losers in the females (maybe even the males too).

I do wish we could get a bracket with everyone back in it though.

So do I, but at this point I think the only way we're going to get it is if we take a year off, or if something completely ridiculous happens in the Battle Royale (meaning neither Link nor Cloud wins it). So I'm kinda hoping next year we have no character battle, do a second Games contest, and then return with the full character battle in 2008.

You could actually get a decent 32 entry bracket, with plenty of good matchups even if the end result is predictable. The Wii and PS3 being newly released during the spring would be a great wild card. Even if the end result is probably predictable, there are lots of potential wild cards now that I think about it. How strong would the PC end up being? How would the Nintendo handhelds hold up? A system contest would be better than the female AND villains contest bracket!

Wow, the SNES's path is brutal! If it were to win the contest, after a laugher with the N-Gage, it would likely have to take down the PSP, PS3, PSX, and the PS2.

Didn't say it would have a tough time with the PSP... but for a one-seed, it still isn't the easiest of typical second round matches. I don't think the PS3 "hate" we have now will be as strong by the time next spring/summer rolls around, unless the launch completely bombs. It could give a respectable showing as well.

What would the match pics be like for a console contest?

First round would be the front of the console, the second round would be the back, the 3rd would be the bottom, and the 4th would be the top!

The PS3 is wasted here with a clear path to SNES and no chance to upset (seriously, I doubt 90% of GameFAQs knows what its opponents are). Just went with the higher seed in the 2/7 match (WTF), and Gameboy is wasted as well. PS3 is very unpredictable due to the 599 US DOLLARS thing, I'd like to see it against something strong...just not SNES strong.

2k4 Lara is a case of utter abuse. You know, sorta like yesterday's match or Vyse's last year. Not sure if we can track down the reason, but sometimes stuff like that happens to the dregs. Some characters just seem to have ceilings.

I have a reason: Lara hadn't had a decent Tomb Raider game in ages. Her anti-votes for being completely mainstream have forgotten about her, and she's getting a whole new crowd with actually good games like her latest.

Vyse's match last year was the result of having no new games.

As for Joanna, I honestly couldn't tell you. Maybe it was because she had her PDZ picture as opposed to her more well-known N64 appearance

That or massive underratedness through Smaus meaning Vincent is a lock against Sonic <_<

Eh, the PS2 wouldn't necessarily SFF the PSX, but the PSX definitely wouldn't SFF the PS2. Yeah, the PSX has FFVII-IX and MGS as its top dogs. But the PS2 doesn't exactly lie down with FFX, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, MGS2 and MGS3 to counter those. FFXII will have been out for a while as well. Then take into account that the PS2 is the current flavor and is still going strong, and that it can play PSX games as well, which gives it an inherent advantage as well.
