I wouldn't mind seeing Robo in the next contest. He's probably the only
16-bit RPG character left that would break the fodder line, besides
maybe Mog or someone else from CT. Too bad he has the nominations of

I know only a person or two did it, but the entire idea of judging Terra=Celes to get Tifa > Zelda is ridiculous. First. Celes is behind SFF. I do not believe Liquid dropped THAT much especially since the other characters Frog performed againist didnt see that type of drop the next year. MGS/FFVII SFF is a reality. Second, I love Celes to death but to think she is equal to Terra is ridiculous. I know they split the main character role, but Terra has the great added advantage of being the main character for the FIRST half of the game. Third, comparing character strength through fodder = Failure. --- --NL-- Z1mZum made me look like Toadette. And made me nominate her. |

I honestly don't get the obsession people have with creating CS&D
topics. There was a recent point in time where the next topic would be

Celes/Boss SFF? I don't think FFVI shares a fanbase with MGS3 to the
extent that FFVII shares a fanbase to the MGS series. Even if that was
the case, there is no reason for the Boss to grab a disproportionate

I'm actually tempted to make a CS&D topic now just to be spiteful
-- there are other regulars here who I think have earned the right as
well, enough where we don't need a specific comity or anything (EC, HM,
therealmnm, KH, Chichiri, myself...fastfalcon's due afew too and he
doesn't even try, heh). Granted, I'm not big on random people racing

When I nominated Lenneth Valkyrie, I didn't do so because I expected

Still, the whole point of nominating FF6 characters for much of this
board has been to prove that they'd be stronger than Kefka, and that

With regards to stats topic creation, I agree with Dabu. They should
not be made before the current one reaches 500. Having to wait 20 extra
seconds to post again is no big deal, and only getting a new topic when
there's an actual demand for it will eliminate the stupid posts that always occupy half the first page. There might be a race to make them, sure, but it's not hard to use the one with the correct title format and/or the one created by a stat-head. What if a non-stats regular makes the topic? Fine. It's not as if he'll flood the topic with posts about how giddy he is. Hell, he might even be more encouraged to participate, and that's always a good thing. I don't really care who makes the topics, but if I had to choose
between elitism and people adding joke links and fighting over who gets
to make the topics, I'll take the elitism every time. believe me, I
don't get all excited about making a stats topic. people don't look at
the topic creator and go "oh man, now that's
a board 8 badass right there!" it's like people watch the post count
and the second it gets even close to halfway full they're racing to get
it made. it's not that important, folks. anyway, I just looked at Zelda - uhhh holy crap. go FF6 day vote! --- xyzzy |

I don't think the issue is so much that an "unworthy" person would make
it if we waited until 500, but rather the race would create 5, 6, 7

Luigi's been more impressive than Zelda. Beating dudes you're not
supposed to beat is superior to beating fodder a little harder than
expected. Zelda getting 100,000 individual votes (something no other character has done), scoring the biggest blowout of round 1, and then going from a 72% projection to nearly 80% on Terra is more impressive to me than beating out Zero. Beating dudes you're not supposed to beat is superior to beating fodder a little harder than expected. By match's end, Zelda will have outperformed her expected margin of victory by a staggering 7.5%. That's not "a little harder than expected." Luigi also had a new game out on a system that substancially raised its
ownership here (and its top three games are SM64DS, MKDS, and
NSMB)...and there's a bigger gap between what should have happened and
what did happen in Zelda/Terra than Luigi/Zero. Plus, Zelda's impressed
two matches, greatly, whereas Luigi's only had one chance thus far.
I'll wait until Kirby/Luigi before I say something decisive, but right

This match still doesn't prove anything to me, and I have Zelda going
to the final four in my bracket. Tifa's situation shows that it's not
best to judge characters against fodder...unless you want to believe
that Zelda has a shot at Samus or that Dante is weaker than 2004 values

Match XXXVIII: (3) KOS-MOS vs. (2) Aeris Gainsborough Previous Matches KOS-MOS Defeated Amy Rose, 65.43% - 34.57% Aeris Gainsborough Defeated Marle, 69.78% - 30.22% Analysis: With the recent release of Xenosaga III KOS-MOS was able to plow right through Amy Rose, but it wasn’t like we expected her to have any trouble. After a two year break Aeris proved that she still has it by getting almost 70% against Marle who did a great job getting little to no SFF. This is the final match before Zelda/Aeris next round and from Zelda’s match in round one and what she is doing to Terra today has made her the heavy favorite at taking the match so if Aeris wants to show that she can win then now would be the time. KOS-MOS may be a decent character, but after her fall from last year she doesn’t really have a chance to win. One thing KOS-MOS does have going for her was the release of Xenosaga III about a month and a half ago. Xeno II may have not been as good as the first one, but I have heard good things about Xeno III and I would be surprised if KOS-MOS doesn’t gain from last year. Since 2k3 Aeris was in KH2 though her role was small like it was in the first one and she made somewhat of an appearance in AC, even though it was a movie getting any sort of appearances will help more than it can hurt. My expectations for this match; if Aeris fails to double KOS-MOS then she would have a slim to none chance; if she gets between 68% - 66.66% she is still the heavy underdog; if she gets between 71% - 68% then the match is still up in the air and if she gets close to a tripling then I may consider her to be a slight favorite.
