Dante is the favorite, but no one should underestimate a decently
strong character who has only seen SFF losses. His win over Riku looked
weak at the time, but after Axel broke 30% against Mega Man (what the
hell), it looks much, much better. I'm not trying to say Yoshi has no chance, but to say that this contest so far has made people more confident in Yoshi is ludicrous. Every thing we've seen so far points to good things for Dante. --- Portugal. The Man Cheer Up Emo Kids |

So, I haven't read any of the last 300ish posts, but has anyone considered that this could be "SNES SFF"? ... what? I'm serious! Zelda's outdoing Dante because she shares the same system with Terra, nothing more! Terra's Pac-Manning out! Just guess I'll make my analysis of the day since everything is dead
now anyway. Yeah Peach won cool I was rooting for her and after my
Peach > Luigi comment (that I in no WAY support now besides my own
personal opinion) it would have been terrible to see her lose. Todays a
joke and anyone calling for 40% on KoS is kidding themselves. My vote
to KoS buts its FF7 the most over voted game of all time plus its RPG
against RPG. Bout the only prayer Kos has of 40 is that huge pic
advantage and even that i doubt can salvage this. As for the Yoshi
Dante discussion i got Yoshi winning but I dont like Yoshi so im not

Well, any more Final Fantasy VI rallies would mean that the GOOD
characters would be getting in. And I would hate to see them get
obliterate as well. Better to stop them from getting in altogether and

Seriously, why the hell did people decide on Terra and Celes? Talk
about suckitude. The main character agument doesn't even really apply

I don't think Terra even had an organized nomination drive.. it just

I'd have pulled for no fewer than 6 other cast members before them. I really don't know what people were thinking. Well, Celes was kinda just a default thing I guess. As much as I love Terra and Celes, I understand the fact that they
aren't really that likable. Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing how
someone like Locke or Shadow would do. Put them as an 8 seed against
someone like Samus. They'd lose easily but I think they'd still be

Shadow is the fan-favorite but he's not present in the game enough to do well. Locke/Edgar/Sabin are the best choices. I could see an argument for Mog because of the mascot factor --- ertyu and VeghEsther are truly proof that there is much about this world we still do not understand. |

No way I see anyone doing better than Shadow, and that's because Shadow
is cool and happens to be the only photogenic FFVI cast member. I doubt
you'd even be getting that much help from the power of FFVI, I feel a
Hayabusa thing going on with him. But that's just for the sake of argument. NO MORE FFVI CHARACTERS. Let's focus now on getting Raiden in, who could at least potentially crack the fodder line and perhaps even have some real strength of his own once MGS4 comes out. You guys seem to be forgetting that to get these two great FF6
performers in... I was snubbed now isn't that the greatest tragedy of
all. In all seriousness Rydia I think could have done just as well I
mean she is popular and always scores well in the board RPG character
battles. If more people knew of the mighty Rydia awsomeness then she

Shadow is cool and happens to be the only photogenic FFVI cast member.
I doubt you'd even be getting that much help from the power of FFVI, I
feel a Hayabusa thing going on with him. I don't know... I don't expect much out of Shadow either. Dark Knight Cecil still absolutely bombed. I know it wasn't Cecil as he is most known, but it was a more "photogenic" look. Certainly almost as "photogenic" as Shadow. I know Shadow comes from a more popular game and is more well known, but I still don't think it makes that much of a difference. Amano art just sucks. I couldn't tell WTF I was looking at when I saw Cecil's contest
picture. Shadow is more or less recognizable no matter what picture you
give him...he's a ninja. Not too much you need aside from that. But yeah, that wouldn't stop him from being weak...just the combination of being far more popular amongst the fanbase and having a much cooler design would keep him from being as weak as Terra and Celes. The only other real candidate that could compete with him is Mog... ...ugh, I still can't believe I'm discussing this. For a change of subject, remember to also nominate Nero! Yeah, but Vivi's "mascot factor" comes from something that people actually LIKE! Mog's "mascot factor" is just there. People probably will acknowledge him as a symbol of FF, but that breaks down if he goes up against a character people actually really like. Vivi has the "black mages kick ass" stigma to him, as well as being an awesome character himself. I don't think Vivi is all "mascot factor", though. It's partially
because he's the Auron of his game. Mog doesn't really have that,
though I'd still take him over Celes or Terra. My money's on Edgar or
Sabin being the strongest, though. In the game almost all the time,
overpowered special abilities so they're likely to be in the party most

Here's a question for you. Do you think next year one of the FFIII
characters on the DS shows up? Supposedly since it's totally remade
they actually have character development (maybe?) or at least they
aren't onion kid clones. I mean hell Issac and Felix made it just off
of Golden Sun so I can see them getting nominated and becoming the
latest crop of old school Square fodder. --- Should I start running now? |

People probably will acknowledge him as a symbol of FF and that's enough to be stronger than FF6 characters! I love Vivi, I think he's awesome. I can acknowledge that Vivi is miles ahead of every other FF9 character though - the gap between Vivi and Zidane is way bigger than the difference between Auron and Tidus. and Zidane is probably more likable than Tidus is. --- xyzzy |

Karma Hunter and tranny are on the same train of thought i've ridden
for the past THREE years about Shadow and Mog!! they are the only two
characters from FF6 that i feel have a chance to be more than slightly
better than Terra or Celes. also, for tomorrow's match - is it just me or does KOS-MOS have one friggin' hot match pic? she out-hots Aeris by several thousand miles in their pic. i doubt KOS-MOS's increased hotness will make a substantial difference, but her well-received new game should. even though Zelda, Samus, and Tifa over-performed in their matches, i don't think Aeris will. Tifa was expected to get 68.28% against KOS-MOS last year and i think Aeris will have trouble matching that score. --- i have officially been Z1mZum'D in the guru contest. If FF6 had a true "lead" character, they would do decently in the contest. no, I don't think so.. you're already looking at side characters in CT being stronger than the strongest FF6 character by far. I don't think giving one "main character" status will suddenly boost them to midcarder. they're definitely not going to be elites. FF6 just doesn't have good characters.. I think we should just accept that and let it go for whatever reason. hopefully we never see another one again. --- xyzzy |

FF6 just doesn't have good characters.. I think we should just
accept that and let it go for whatever reason. hopefully we never see
another one again. Well, yeah. I think a big part of this is that they never really take the time to flesh out one main character and instead all we ever know is bits and pieces, leading the characters not to have much depth to them. --- I did well in SpC2k6, but not well enough to beat Z1mZum! øütßá©k *Truly Gone Fishing* |

Oh, like Vincent...and Vincent's optional, too. Bah. That's different. FF7 is like the worshipped "I PLAYED THAT GAME FIFTY TIMES DUDE" game that people know stuff about. FF6 would be more like the "Yah, I think I played that game or something. It's Final Fantasy so it's cool" You need to use a character that A: Is memorable in the first 5 hours B: Isn't lame Clearly, Edgar/Locke/Sabin are the only options! --- ertyu and VeghEsther are truly proof that there is much about this world we still do not understand. |

Personally, I think we should rally for a character who actually has
potential to be stronger than a fodder line candidate instead of
