Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
http://sc2k5.com/drupal/node/11

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

Something wrong with the other 393 topic?
steve illumina | Posted 10/17/2006 1:06:31 PM | message detail
Now I know all the kiddies and fanbabies have been wondering...where did Steve Illumina, reviled and loved Sage of Board 8 go this contest?

Cue the narrator...

"Well, loyal Sage of Board 8 fans and supporters, he sits tied with 300 or so others in 2nd place at 36 points, very much still alive in this contest after this past summer contest's amazing run of perfection that he had that outlasted every other analyst, elitist, and big mouth so called know-it-all noobie on this here thread!

He took a break from writing analyses this time around but only for the first two rounds, angry at fair weather FF fanboyism...they supported Tifa over The Boss but not Celes. And Celes is ten times the character Tifa will ever be. Just cause Tifa can punch like Leila Ali and has "thingies" the size of honeydew...thats why she got the votes and it is appalling to the real gamers who have played FF since the battles were fought on a black background. But Celes? Kick her to the curb these so called FF fanbabies do! In anger at losing his perfect, he took a much needed break...

He lost his second point with irony...as his favorite game series, represented by Subby Zero, took out the Chief to end Round 1. He smiled with great pride when Subby Zero took out the Hero of Halo, smashing fanbaby dreams and giving his fav series, Mortal Kombat, its first victory in a couple years in these contests. Now Subby will have a nice pic when he goes for the 2nd upset of his career here against Auron. Too bad it wont happen...

OK with these low level losses, he devised a bracket that will bring him worldwide acclaim...and to do that he plans for a Perfect Round 2, and Peach will not fail him in that pursuit. Neither will the great upstart Vinny when he takes out the fading year-by-year Blue Blob Sonic next week...and before that, in 3 days, when the upset with the lowest prediction percentage in contest history happens...that one being when the massively over-rated and never done nothing Yuna falls to the underrated Nintendite, Joanna Dark. It will be that day, that at long last, he gets his dream of Leaderboard Glory fulfilled, and every user everywhere knows the name, Steve Illumina..."

Why would someone take this match as validation for Peach, when she was the heavy favorite and the match was under-debated? I'm pretty sure Peach will win the match, but this match is more validation for Jill supporters.

uhh Chun Li

I really don't know what to think of Peach. I think someone really well-known could beat her down, but she could take a character that's not universally known. kinda like Pac-Man, I guess.

Same as EC. I had her pegged right between Rikku and Chunners but I dunno if I can believe it anymore. SHe's still not far off from where I had her, but it's enough to put that match into the serious consideration pile.

Peach supporters became more confident? what?

Let's see...In the last few days, Jill > Peach became a "crazy upset" apparently on par with Sub-Zero > Master chief, and she had less than 25% chance to win. I never heard any of that kind of talk before the last few days.

Chun-Li is STILL better than Peach, yo!

Unless Jill really was underrated (and it's really hard for me to justify that after how poorly she did on Sheena...it's hard for me to see her stronger than Lloyd), there's no way I could justify Peach over Chun-Li or Rikku.

Though I expect her to do better than she "should" against Tifa.

"crazy upset"? sounds like an inferiority complex to me!

Peach's match wasn't the reason.. it was Jill's match with Sheena. look at Jill's expectations:

http://oraclechallenge.com/archives.php?contest=SC2k6&type=total&match=7

most people expected the mid-to-high 60's and she was perceived to have disappointed. no one that I saw said that Jill "had no chance" - actually, it was the Jill supporters who kept referring to Peach as "useless fodder". it goes both ways.

It's hard for me to choose, really. Peach is my favorite Nintendo character of all and a contender for the top spot, but Chun-Li was the one I always chose in SF.

I don't see why. Either way, it's not like it matters. Tifa's still going to kill her.

But Jill based on Sheena = Lloyd is pretty weak...looking weaker than Claire Redfield.
