Damn, okay, Leon doesn't seem to be stopping here. Preliminary thoughts: -I definitely am not buying a second Nintendo boost at this point -If Bowser was overrated, that makes me feel much better about Snake/Squall. Unfortunately, I feel approximately one bazillion times worse about Snake/Mega Man -I'm not feeling a NSMB boost here, meaning Zero dropping seems more likely -I don't think Kratos boosted significantly -;_; Kirby YAY NOT EVEN A HALF HOUR INTO THE MATCH CONCLUSIONS!!! --- *kills self* Commit it to memory. |

I'm fairly certain PS2 RE4 only outsold the Gamecube version in Japan.

Just because Nintendo hasn't flat out dominated and overperformed in all of its matches don't mean that they have been lackluster. Square did
have a crapload of stuff come out within the past year -- Kingdom
Hearts II, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, etc. Nintendo mostly had
in its corner the great showing at E3, DS Lite release, and New Super
Mario Bros. Considering the opponents Nintendo has faced were all
primarily Square, you'd have to expect them to not do quite as well as

Squall > Bowser That'd make me feel better about my Squall > Snake upset pick if it didn't seem like Snake's gonna be on steroids this contest. Too bad we got stuck with the female bracket on a year when things are getting really interesting. Nintendo's moved down, Square's moved up, it's 2003 all over again besides Luigi getting a surprise victory instead of a surprise defeat. I shouldn't have let the thought of Leon approaching 30% on BL get to
me...because it looks like his PS2 release just might have brought him
to that level. I suppose Jill Valentine being at 27% on BL back in 2002

Resident Evil 4 sold 810,000 on the GCN and 610,000 on the PS2, both
for America. That's a significant increase to the fanbase no matter how

If Bowser was significantly overrated, so was Tidus (and he's behind
a second wave of potential Kirby overrating). Add in some SFF and that
match makes a lot more sense. I prefer not to even bother thinking about Bowser being overrated at this point. There is still the day vote to see and Bowser's latest update didn't see him getting rocked in percentage either. If this ends around 60%, it wouldn't out do expectations too much -- and we could attribute to RE4 on the PS2; the NSMB boost still lives through that, too, of course! --- "That's a cruel, rotten, disgusting idea -- and I love it!" |

This doesn't make Squall look better, not by a longshot. If Bowser
was significantly overrated, so was Tidus (and he's behind a second
wave of potential Kirby overrating). Add in some SFF and that match
makes a lot more sense. Squall > Bowser... It puts Squall above any of the other near elites except Vincent. You are thinking the wrong way. Sure this might remove Squall chances of beating Snake (you never know... maybe this is showing that Snake is overrated too ^_^) but it makes Squall look better than Bowser. So far this contest Squall has looked better than Gannon and Bowser... two characters not many people Squall would have a chance at before these matches... KB |

Squall's always had a shot at Ganondorf and Bowser (and Snake), and I
remember the idea of Snake potentially being overrated in the Mario
match because MGS4 news had come out that day (though that's *really*
stretching it for me). But while that gives Squall an easier time with
his competition, it doesn't say much about his own strength. Typically
you want to rely on your own strength to win a match, not your
opponent's weakness -- which is why most would still say Mega Man is
the heavy favorite to beat Snake (or Squall) despite his lackluster
