hmm... Prince doing, in my opinion, pretty well. Kratos is his absolute ceiling to me, and I personally used Kratos Aurion to try and figure out a good spot for the POP to end up. Kirby's big day vote is still ahead of us, but if the Prince can keep lowering him during the night vote he should be able to remain above 30%. obviously we can't say anything about Kirby being overrated and whatnot from this performance since we have no idea where the Prince lies, so we'll just have to wait for tomorrow to declare a favourite.

though to be fair, if the Prince really is like Kratos he should have a pretty decent day vote. "casual" games usually do do the best in the daytime. maybe the Prince can actually keep this under a doubling. I know I wouldn't struggle to pick Hayabusa over the Prince, so if it comes to that I'll be expecting big things out of Zero in round 2 (provided he gets there).

and the Prince is just ripping percentage off Kirby here.. interesting.

The Prince and Kratos are two different from two different games. The only thing they really have in common is the genre and style of game they come from.

Come on, I could compare use this exact logic to make a case for Agent 47 being as weak as Tanner (oh wait, that happened last year) or as strong as Tommy Vercetti. It just doesn't work.

Does anyone else find it strangely funny that in the dead hours, Kirby was getting 58-64% updates and now that it hit 7 am EST that he's getting 55%-56% updates? He's had 4 of these in a row already, starting right at the turn of the hour.

I know it's not much, considering it's a weekend and people sleeping in, but it's still funny that so far it looks like the cute guy wins the night and the badass does better in the morning.

yeah, Kirby is getting destroyed percentage-wise right now. looking back, Kirby's day vote isn't that great - he gained 2% or so against Cecil and Tidus, so he might not even achieve a doubling here. heck, he might struggle to gain at all seeing as how he's only getting 55% updates at the moment.

Interestingly enough, if you calculate what Vincent would get on Sonic through a constant Diablo from last year, than Vincent gets about what Zero got on him in 2K3.

How anyone could consider Kratos to be PoP's absolute ceiling baffles me. Seriously, how? How can you consider Kratos to be his ceiling? Prince of Persia is a freaking legend. His games, even just this generation outsold GoW's so badly it's not even funny. Is any PoP game as big as GoW on gameFAQs? Not even close. But adding them together?

If anything, I'd consider Kratos to be PoP's floor.

I expected Prince to be doing better than he's doing now, but even then he's outperforming 2k6 Kratos (through 2k5 Ryu) by a solid amount. We'll see how this evolves though.

Hmm...I agree, Kratos is probably closer to his floor than to his ceiling, but he's still far away from ever being the Prince's floor. I'd definitely hesitate before taking PoP over kratos, but I probably would.

i just had a thought - how popular is the Prince of Persia in Japan and Europe? it seems more like an American casual gamer type of game to me. the Prince might actually take the day vote from Kirby - or at least keep the vote steady rather than swinging towards Kirby.

looks like the Prince might be more of a casual gamer type of character; or at least as much of one as Kirby is.

Assuming that Bowser/Kirby was legit, and that Ryu 2005 = Ryu 2006, the Prince of Persia gets 51.11 on Kratos.

Man, PoP is really impressing me right now. This is either a sign of his strength (which would make me look stupid for all the Kratos > PoP pushing I've done, heh), or a sign of Kirby being over-rated last year (which would make my talk of rSFF more sensable). Right now I'm going with PoP's strength, but we'll know what it is by this time next round.

Oh, and I'm still not sold on him being > Kratos. Close to him? Yes, very close even. But I think you have to adjust PoP down a notch because of Bowser/Snake, I'd absolutely love it if this is legit though. And I don't know how people can draw conclusions in Zero/Luigi/Kirby, but once again this topic changes their tune thanks to the result of a match with a complete unknown!

Oh, and not for a second would I have ever taken Ryu H. over PoP. He has the same type of game as PoP, except less, they're X-Box only (we know how much this site loves it's X-Box), and he performed horrendously when he was given his DoA pic, which means that he's probably not drawing his strength from there, though I'm sure it helps. If I had to guess I'd put The Prince right between Kratos and Ryu H. closer towards Kratos.

If there's no female bracket he should have little to no trouble getting back in. If he falls from being a 3/4 seed, to not even making the contest, I'll eat my hat. Regardless, PoP rally #2 here I come!

Also, had PoP been the three seed in either Mario's or Mega Man's division last year, he would have won two matches. THAT'S WHAT I CALL WORTHY OF RETURNING.

just for kicks, I'll play with numbers. POP currently has 37.59% on Kirby. if Kirby 2k5 = Kirby 2k6, POP's at 26.31%, or just under Rikku. if Squall 2k4 = Squall 2k5, POP is at 23.79%, or equal to Hayabusa.

Over the last 4 hours, this match has gone in the Prince's favor by .2%. With that said, I'm not really worried about Kirby gaining back much % here, if any at all. If it was a school day, maybe. Even though younger kids probably know and like PoP more than Kirby, save for SSB, when's the last time Kirby's been in a popular game? You say Canvas Curse and you die.
