I still don't understand why so many people think phoenix will win. Is
it just a really loud small minority, or are a lot of people actually
taking board jokes such as gfnw into account when making serious
brackets? I mean were talking about a character from a game that hadn't
even sold 50k english copies as of last july... --- When D... I'd be able to finish this sig if Z1mZum didn't own me so hard in the guru contest. Congrats on your victory! |

Why is everybody referencing GF vs. Tina Armstrong like it has any relevance? HL2 changed everything. Besides, that was 2k2! It was meant to be annoying, as I'd said it twice already to no response. I still don't understand why so many people think phoenix will win. The objection! website isn't even nearly as big as the all your base
fad, and has been around for a very short period of time. Even as a fad
it's far more obscure then what cats has going for him. Aside from that, I doubt a very minor amount of internet fame will save a character from a game more obscure then suikoden 2. --- When D... Even if gordon does win, GFNW will only get more annoying. At least
right now, the fad is based on him losing constantly, which is true. If
(when) he wins, the entire basis of the fad evaporates. But is that
really enough to destroy the fad? I doubt it. We'll just see an
increase in loopholed theories and rampant angry rants. Gordon Freeman

I expect Phoenix to do better during the day, only because he looks

That larger boost would make much more sense if he were overrated in
2005 and got back up to around those levels in 2006. Doing around a
percent better than expected is nothing to get worked up about. When you get into the mid-60s, a percent means more than it does when you're in the 50s, but the fact that he exceeded it at all (and you're talking about a percent better at a value that you don't think he's at anyway, so it means much more than just that) when few expected him to means something. There's absolutely nothing conclusive from that match. What a shock! Yeah, it's not like I was expecting supporters of the overrated theory to concede when something goes above and beyond expectations. I hate to draw conclusions from a match like this, but perhaps Riku and Sora will be closer than I originally thought. Depending on where Sora is, Tingle will only be worth 15-16% on BL. Considering that's the range Nidoran F is in, this really isn't that bad for Sora, all things considered. 15-16% actually sounds about right, though I'm expecting Sora to overperform on Mega Man for some reason. Sora/Yoshi is very close, especially after Riku/Yoshi. I'd probably go with Sora, but I don't see him winning by anymore than 52%. Hmm, and that in turn makes me feel even better about Dante/Yoshi... --- Moltar Status: Feeling good and hot-blooded. that's the exact reason I'd take Yoshi over Sora. I expect it would be
an unpopular pick, but it just seems right for some reason. didn't we debate Luigi / Sora recently on your board? I can't see Yoshi being weaker than Luigi. --- xyzzy |

I figured Tingle to be at 17% with Sora around 32%, with a bit under a
tripling. That's pretty close to what's happening but a bit below, so
Tingle is probably a bit weaker than that 17%. But Sora could very well
be up in the 33-34 range. I would absolutely take Sora over Yoshi this
year, no hesitation. Maybe Luigi as well, who I'm convinced is stronger
than Yoshi. --- Take off every sig. |
