What may actually be off is Mario being underrated due to Link SFF
(another controversial idea that for some reason gets less credibility
than WDF-chamacalit!). Out of pure gut instinct, I think I'll take
Mario over Mega Man that year (no real reasoning, heck even their
common opponent the following year contradicts it). Putting that as a
ceiling and extrapolating through it, Squall looks a heckuva lot
better...the "problem" now is that you've got a lot of people at 40% or
so on 2k2 Link. So, Link went from that to untouchable with...Wind

no matter what you do, 2k2 stats look screwed up. I prefer to not try and adjust them and just throw them in the garbage. it sure seems like 2k2 had a more varied fanbase. look at all the characters that ended up scoring 35% on good opponents - Claire, Kasumi, Servbot.. -- now they'd just be fodder. weird how that works. I don't buy 2k2 Tidus at all when Claire gets 42 or whatever percent on him. no way. --- xyzzy |

Claire got around 45% or so on
Tidus...yeah. Though that's definitely a stronger Claire, fresh off of
CV: X in a time when Jill could stomp Kirby (and I actually felt like
an idiot for taking Kirby in that matchup). Tidus' problem is that his whole Sonic match is flukey...the poll being down, the nature of the match (and of 2k2 itself). I like 2k4 Tidus myself as a floor, but even that joker beats 2k2 Squall 55-45. Something's got to give. --- Commit it to memory. |

yeah, I went and looked. I don't care what she had, she doesn't get 45%
on Tidus when FF10 came out no more than 8 months ago. that should be his strongest year, and the stats probably say that he is - yet, I can't ignore 45%. that was back when Square was dominant on this site, too. I don't think FF10 left the #1 FAQ position for like a year. --- xyzzy |

Snake owns all non-FFVII characters that appear on a Sony console.
That's about all there is to it! Actually, a Snake/Dante match would be

Heh, it's not like FFX was unpopular (did you *see* what it did to SSBM in that poll? so screwed, yes it was). It's just that, y'know...it's Tidus. I'm quite excited to see what Auron will do. His performance will help to gauge what KH2 is capable of (though for him it's his first appearance, so you can sorta write it off). --- Commit it to memory. |

Yeah, if Dante ends up edging out Yoshi, don't be surprised if he looks
lower than he's ever been. That's an overperformance that people have

To be fair to the 2k2 stats, we still do not know how strong Kairi and
Claire really are. What if Kairi pulls a Pokemon and scores way better

Kairi will...*not* perform well on Rikku. As a KH fanatic, I can safely say I'd vote Speck of Dust over Kairi today and have no regrets. She is nothing. --- Commit it to memory. |

I'm surprised Auron/Crono didn't get more discussion. I mean, with a
comparable boost for Auron as Cloud/Squall got in 2k3, and depending on
your value for Ganon in 2k5...that's not an impossible upset. --- Commit it to memory. |

Squall wins over Tidus with +70% Ganondorf wins over Tidus with 50.68% Sonic wins over Tidus with: 58.83% Vincent => Squall before Ac and DoC. I'm started to get a little worried that Vincent might be able to take down Sonic..... --- Supporter of Alucard. |

I really wouldn't be based on this match. If anything extra is
happening for Squall, it's KH2...the best Vincent's getting is the
happiness that he's not overrated. Now, a non-overrated Vincent with
AC/DoC is perhaps an outside threat to Sonic, but that's something that
we all knew before the contest began. Want to know something that's really a bazillion to one chance? That all the upsets that we're entertaining pan out, making this contest the one where every member of the Noble Nine in the bracket gets upset... ...that'd surely make this the best contest ever. ...and honestly, why people think Tidus has lost strength baffles me. Are you kidding? Tidus seems to lose strength every year. He clearly wouldn't get 40% on Sonic now when he barely got that against Kirby. I don't see how Tidus being much weaker now can even be disputed. Much stronger Squall+significantly weaker Tidus+SFF is why this match is a major blowout, when it might well have had a different result way back in 2K2. Actually, it'll be Axel that solidifies my position on KH2...he might
as well be exclusive to it, after all. If he does even halfway decent
on the KING of fodder blowouts, we're in for another damn KH-fest. Lousy moderately popular series whose characters aren't even all strong but in which random cameos make the biggest boosts ever darn you kay aitch --- Commit it to memory. |

I've been thinking that the bracket isn't really set up for a "KH2F". I
mean, put Squall against Bowser or Auron against Zero or something and
you've got some intriguing matchups. the way it is now though? Snake
probably beats on Squall and Auron gets stuck with a predictable path
up to Crono. there's no Luigi this time and we don't get to see Cloud.
Aeris is a bit role and her voice actor is terrible, or so I hear. her
match with Zelda is about all we have. --- xyzzy |

Aeris > Zelda will be plenty, seeing as how that upset is worth 12 points!!! And Aeris' role in KH2 is exactly the same as it was in KH...so, accordingly, she'll get little to no boost. <.< Still, that's not what I'm banking on -- no, I rely on things much more crazy and farfetched and could be delayed/changed at any time!!! --- Commit it to memory. |

Snake doesn't really have that rep as a fodder killer, he just got
lucky enough to get Tanner in 2004 (and good lord, that was the weakest
Snake we'd ever seen). Other than that, he had his Squall doubling in
2k2, failed to make Raiden into uber-fodder in 2k3 (the performance was
considered disappointing), and had Manny in 2k5...which people
considered disappointing. Yesterday was his second truly surprising blowout, and it's being completely overshadowed by what's happening right now. --- Commit it to memory. |
