And as far as the whole Knuckles thing, in my opinion, he has a good
chance of being overrated, but there's very little doubt in my mind
that he increased noticeably. If that Knuckles had faced 2004 Snake,

As I said before, Bowser only got 4% less than Mario on Sephiroth IN

This is weird. MGS's day vote seems somewhat improved...Of course, The
Boss faced Celes (but Terra won the morning vote over Kerrigan) and

Meh, don't make judgment off of unproven characters. Soma has shown
himself to be fodder, and that's what I expected from him. Solid Snake
being stronger this year would not surprise me, however. Either I want
Squall to upset him, or I want Snake to be strong enough to take the

While we're in a bit of a lull, I suppose I'll make my comments on the new batch of pictures. Solid Snake/Soma Cruz - MGS1 Snake! First time we've seen him outside of a user made picture against Mario last year. Soma looks like he belongs in Japanese anime. Squall/Tidus - Nice picture of Squall, though it's not my favorite. I hate that picture of Tidus though. It's like the worst one he has. Riku/Yoshi - Not the best picture Riku could've had, but it's better than staring at Yoshi's butt (I expect EC to make some witty remark!). Dante/Hayabusa - Holy crap, that picture of Hayabusa is one of the most awesome things I have ever seen. Nice picture of Dante, too, but it's overshadowed. Sora/Tingle - Typical KHII Sora picture, and...well, it's Tingle. Phoenix/Gordon - Phoenix just standing there, and Freeman in his loser pose with the Half-Life symbol visible. Decent, but not great. Kratos/Ryu - I like that picture of Ryu a lot, and the one of Kratos ain't bad either. Mega Man/Axel - Not too fond of that Mega Man picture, but Axel looks cool. Sonic/CATS - An expected picture of Sonic, but CATS looks very extravagant. Ganondorf/Vincent - Standard pictures for both. Balanced, but bland. Kirby/Prince - Funny how Kirby's whole body fits into an upper body round. Nice picture of the Prince, too. Luigi/Zero - Gold-digger vs. Zero in his underwear? This picture should've been better than this. Crono/Falcon - Nothing new for Crono, but I like Captain Falcon's picture. Very blue. Bowser/Leon - Bowser looks like crap in Mario RPG, plain and simple. Decent picture of Leon though. Auron/Alucard - Standard cool-looking Auron pose, and that's about the best Alucard could've asked for. Master Chief/Sub-Zero - The resolution for both is a bit blurry. MC looks the same as always, and Sub-Zero is very recognizable, heh. Glad he didn't get his Shredder look. --- "...And then they made me their chief." - Captain Jack Sparrow |

Squall...65% on Tidus, no SFF? Now Tidus is now Bomberman's level?! You
could say Squall increased by KH2 while Tidus continued to fall off the
map... Kefka was accurately measured through Knuckles/Snake, which is why I don't think Knuckles ever underperformed against Snake. Why is everyone acting like this match result is SO unexpected and
crazy? Two people on the analysis crew predicted the match with 80%+,
he's 2% higher than that, it's not like it's some crazy insane proof
that Snake is suddenly going to take the male bracket. I hope he does,
just because he's my favorite character in the contest, but that
doesn't mean he's going to. We've seen Solid Snake before, he has the
ability to blow out people to extremes. Oh, and there's NO POSSIBLE WAY
a character who only appears on handhelds is this weak, that's just
INSANE. Yeah, okay. I don't think Soma's between Manny and Kerrigan in
strength, but I wouldn't be shocked if he really were. --- Explicit Content darn you cjay |

*Copys THEJackSparrow's idea* Solid Snake VS Soma: 5/10. Standard picture, nothing bad, nothing great Squall VS Tidus: 6/10. Tidus looks ok, Squall has a sexy pose, but not that sexy. Riku VS Yoshi: 3/10. Horrible Riku picture, while Yoshi looks ok. Dante VS Ryu Hayabusa: 8/10. Both character picture's makes me want to vote for them. And thank god for no more Dead Or Alive pictures on Hayabusa. Sora VS Tingle: 5/10. The standard Sora and Tingle picture... Gordon Freeman VS Phoenix Wright. 8/10. Phoenix should havwe his point picture, but this picture is still pure sex. Kratos VS Ryu. 5/10 Ryu looks somewhat cool, however Kratos looks really lame. Megaman VS Axel. 7/10 A cool picture. Sonic VS Cats. 9/10. There's no such thing as a not good looking Sonic picture, and Cats has a cool picture too! Ganondorf VS Vincent. 5/10 Meh nothing special, but at least this picture doesn't tell us which character CjayC wants to win. Kirby VS The Prince. 7/10. Unlike Kratos, the Prince looks really cool and Kirby looks ok. Luigi VS Zero 5/10. The same lame Luigi picture again, but Zero looks somewhat cool. Crono VS Captain Falcon. 4/10. Can't CjayC find another Crono picture? Captain Falcon looks ok. Bowser VS Leon. 7/10. I got no problem with a SMRPG picture for Bowser and Leon has a picture from RE4. Auron VS Alucard. 1/10. Auron looks as lame as always (anti fanboysism) and CjayC keeps using worthless pictures of Alucard. This is even worse than Cortana... Masterchief VS Sub-Zero. 8/10. CjayC did as good as he could in this match picture. --- Supporter of Alucard. |

By the way, were the nominations only posted on the board this year? No. They were posted during the Zelda/FF final & put up in the front page for like 4 days. Meh. Still, being one of the top 8 females and top 16 overall in terms of seeding is pretty good. Lara getting a 2 seed is a result of people not being able to think of
many females...nothing more to me. I mean, she'd probably lose to half
of the female field. After 3 years of constant disappointments, Lara is going to have to prove it to me this time around. Even putting up 35% on Chun-Li would be a start. --- Commit it to memory. |

I don't know how long nominations were off the board, but I know there was a link directly to it on the day of LoZ/FF, so at least one (rather big) day. Even if it was just on the board, given that Lara is one of the few females icons, she is easily one of the few women people will think of when they think of gaming females, whether they actually like her or not. Chun-Li 2k5 beats any value we've seen Lara have to date with 54+%, and if Kasumi somehow stayed constant from 2k2 to 2k5 (she has more reason than most characters only from 2k2 to stay constant, to boot), Chun-Li is suddenly able to get 64.15% on Lara's best value to date (her 2k3 value). TRL may be big for her, but we don't know how big due to not seeing Lara without controversy in a long time and GameFAQs not giving a damn for her in a long time. I want to see how the afterschool vote holds before making any
conclusions about this match for Snake...this is actually more about
trends for me since we can't establish any conclusions on strength.
It's MGS against a character that's exclusive to Nintendo handhelds...sure, it's Castlevania, but there's a reason why CV's day vote isn't anywhere near as sucky as Alucard's. --- Commit it to memory. |
