Match XVI: (2) Lara Croft vs. (7) Alyx Vance Contest History Lara Croft Summer 2002 Defeated Chop Chop Master Onion, 69.63% - 30.37% Defeated Ryo Hazuki, 59.38% - 40.62% Lost to Crono, 29.13% - 70.87% Ranked: 27th Summer 2003 Lost to Zelda, 37.71% - 62.29% Ranked: 37th Summer 2004 Lost to Samus Aran, 17.61% - 82.39% Ranked: 50th Alyx Vance No Previous Contest Matches Analysis: Lara Croft is from the Tomb Raider series. At one point in time she was one of the most recognized characters made, but since the Playstation era things have changed. Back in 2k2 she was given a 1 seed and didn’t quite put up the performance of a one seed in both of her matches before losing to Crono. Since then she continued to lose. Alyx Vance is from Half-Life 2 and has the lead female role in the game. Welcome to the last match of the female half. Unlike what some people say this match won’t be near close. Lara may have fallen hard since her time during the high life, but she will win this match on name recognition alone. Alyx was one of the few characters that almost no one on the board heard of when the bracket was released. Also I don’t think Lara is as weak as the 2k4 stats say. Like Sam Fisher I think Samus overperformed on Lara and Fisher’s giant boost in 2k5 proves it. Don’t talk about the Splinter Cell game that Fisher got between 2k4 and 2k5, he also got a game between 2k3 and 2k4 and you think he dropped that badly. This doesn’t mean that Lara Croft is as strong as her 2k3 self either, but the new Tomb Raider game will help her get back up. Seeing what Lara Croft got against Chop Chop makes me think that she won’t exactly totally destroy Alyx, but I think she could break 70%. Lara/Alyx sorta reminds me of Kuja/Glove - it's the last round 1 match of a fodderific bracket and it involves a 'hated' 2-seed. I bet you didn't realize you were using Link in OoT either. I play a bunch of FPS' and I never remember any of the characters names in them except for the one I'm using. FPS characters are forgettable to most, which is why none of them are
strong on this site. Master Chief is the only exception, but that's
