Oh yeah, Shadow. That game that allowed Shadow back into the contest. That probably had a lot to do with the game itself being completely abysmal. --- When D... I'd be able to finish this sig if Z1mZum didn't own me so hard in the guru contest. Congrats on your victory! |

I'm a big Sonic fan, and I didn't even touch Shadow. Just from watching videos it looked like it was impossible to control. They kept hyping guns as the big addition in this game, and yet you can't even aim! What's the point of that?! Sonic Rush, however, was the best Sonic game I've played in a long time. Aeris/Zelda alone is more interesting than the entire Villain contest was. Kuja/Master Hand. Any game with "Episode III" tagged onto it, is not going to attract new people to the series. It may not have "Episode" in it, but Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best selling game of all time. A 3rd seed. Which means that she would have been unlikely to qualify for a normal bracket, which means that she got less nominations than usual. Which again doesn't bode well. She made the contest last year and had a new game released -- which apparently is very well-liked -- so it's not like it's bad logic to think she would have made the contest again. A 3-seed, no, not in a normal one, but still higher than her 7-seed last year. It'll be close either way. If the Villain Contest still has any truth or accuracy to it, Dr. Robotnik shouldn't break 40% on KOS-MOS before XS3 (sadly). Old-ass GF-polls will tell you that Amy is both less-liked and more-hated than Dr. Robotnik, she's no icon of gaming, she's not been in nearly as many games as he has, she missed out on the Genesis era, and she's PINK (heh, I think some GF-poll actually shows pink is its least-favorite color...but this is a joke anyway, so shut up if I'm wrong!). Amy can kiss her ass good-bye against KOS-MOS -- she might even be doubled. They care for her less than the big 4, but like Peach is to the Mario series, Amy is still going to act as a magnet for Sonic voters. Big five, at least. I'm very easily pleased, but Shadow failed to come up to even my standards. By the way, we should totally rally for Liquid back into the next
contest. I know he bombed completely, but barely avoiding a tripling
from somebody like Sephiroth is still fairly decent. I nominated him this year, actually. I'll do it again next year. Also, Liquid appears to be the main villain for MGS4 (in Ocelot's body, that is), and Sephiroth probably SFF'd him a good bunch, so he could prove to be pretty popular. --- CB: 9/9. Anybody that dismisses Shadow either didn't give it a fair chance or a
hype magnet. It was difficult to appreciate, but once you gave it a
chance, the rewards were there. I mean, playing through Cosmic Fall was one of the highlights of any platforming game. Plummeting thousands of feet outside the Ark, with space all around. Using the gunplay to delay air effects, wall jumps, spin dash, air tornados, homing strikes. For the first time in any platforming game, I felt like I was controlling a god. And hell, compare the story with something like Mario Sunshine or Sonic Heroes. It was much better, cleared a lot about shadow, and it made sense. I'll admit it's not for everyone, but don't dismiss it. Even check the GF reviews for it, I counted 9 perfect 10's. Does that sound like the work of the "Worst game this generation". I would like to play it someday just to form my own opinion on it, but
it just doesn't seem like the kind of game that has a soul... I know a couple of people who played it who both said they initially loved it, but quickly grew to think it sucks. --- September 22nd! On IGN Solid Snake took down the house as most popular character, the
character doing the next best on him? Naked Snake with 49+% IIRC. I'm
sure if we got him into a contest, and he was given a good place in the

Any game with "Episode III" tagged onto it, is not going to attract new people to the series. I saw a bewildering amount of people on the Disgaea 2 board ask "Xenosaga 3 or Disgaea 2" Only to learn after a few posts that not only had they played Disgaea 1, but they hadn't played Xenosaga 1 or 2 either O_o I'm not exactly sure what possesses someone to go out and start on episode 3, but... --- ertyu and VeghEsther are truly proof that there is much about this world we still do not understand. |

lol, smurf -=- Yeah, maybe Naked Snake is a little too close to Solid for it to be true. If he looked a little more different to Solid (Give him Black hair or the full Big Boss Beard or something), then it would be fine. He would get votes as "MGS3 Protagonist" not "OOH IT'S SOLID SNAKE O WATE". Hell, even then he'd be decent. But he isn't like that. And after MP3, I think Dark Samus might make the contest. I have never, ever, heard someone complain about a bracket being too unpredictable. And it would have to make the original games inelligible. Imagine putting Sonic Mega Collection in, and that causing Sonic 2 to be snubbed. No. Why would it have to make the originals ineligible? I see no reason not to have both. In fact, discussing this has convinced me that including characters like Dark Samus and Mega Man X would be awesome. Yeah, but even if you didn't have Sonic 2 vs. Mega Collection, you
might wind up with a singular game, which is otherwise a decent

I disagree with this. Naked Snake would get a crapload of votes for

Do we really want characters like Dark Link or Dark Samus in the
contest? Because they're pretty comparable. Solid Snake/Naked Snake is so completely different from Dark Link and Samus it isn't even funny. I don't think Solid/Naked would turn out anywhere close to Ganon/Link,
since you know, Naked actually has his own ground to stand on. If you

I know, but some of Naked's advantage has to come from looking like
Solid Snake. "HAY! It's Solid Snake! But why is he called Naked Snake

Then how could Naked put up 49%+ on Solid Snake himself on an IGN poll?
Sure GameFAQs =/= IGN, but I don't think there's suddenly going to be a
ton of people here to make that a match that close, to a 70-30 affair.
People like Naked Snake because he's the hero of MGS3, not because of
