Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

Crono, Mega Man, Sonic, and Solid Snake dominate. What's so unpredictable about that?

And "Metroid characters"? There's only one that's worth a damn, and it's not even because of Metroid.

Illumina! Illumina! Illumina!

The masses demanded it...and the masses' wish has been granted...give it up for Steve Illumina!

"Greetings, noobies of the world, and welcome to another spirited season of GameFAQ's greatest analysis column, that being of course, 'Steve Illumina Speaks'!"

Here we are, with another edition of the Stats thread's biggest draw...the column that tells it like it is, and spares no expense! The analysis to end all analyses!!!

Now let us begin with the "Tale of the Babes!"

(2)Kairi vs (7)Claire Redfield

Sage of Board 8's Pick: Kairi the Kingdom Hearts Lass
Newbies Pick: Kairi
Fadnerds Pick: Claire
Sage's Score After This Win: 4/4
Sage's Oracle Rank History So Far: 2nd, then 11th, then...

"Alright, the first match generating some real buzz...and I am ready for it! I have always said when it comes to making brackets...Live by the Upset, Die by the Upset. My beautiful bracket that will propel me to leaderboard glory...the only goal that has eluded me on this here site...is the result of oodles of what the fanbabies would call 'improbable upsets'. But are they all upsets? Nope. The facts speak for themselves time and time again."

"Using my super-computer, an uber-enhanced Dell XPS, along with over 22 years of gaming experience, I have formulated countless contest laws and theories, all of them being proven time and time again. Deep down, many believe in these precepts, but publicly...all they profess to love are those silly X Stats..."

"So then the question remains? Is today an upset? Yes it is! It is an upset cause...countless fanbabies will be upset when Kairi dispatches their RE heroine! *LOL* RE...the most overrated set of games this side of Metroid on this site in contest competition. RE has proven nothing to me yet, and this contest will prove it again. RE characters will not beat anyone of substance. Only fodder. That is all they have ever beaten. The facts speak for themselves. And the series? Bah. SF should have won. SF proved RE is all talk and no substance on this site. This contest will reinforce this data exponentially..."

"Seeing the results from Jade's loss...I must laugh at how many brackets were broken by peeps who took Jade over Ada. Sorry kids, RE is weak yes, but not THAT weak. You picked the wrong opponent of an RE character to win the "upset"! Kairi is the one you want! Kairi...will get the job done."

"Bye bye Claire..."

"Thats it for today folks, now stay tuned for the next column!"

Steve Fun Fact The Kingdom Hearts Trilogy is one of the finest in RPG history...when will Warner Bros follow suit with Bugs & Pals hooking up with Square?

PS: KH's power cannot be denied....until Round 2!

This is Steve Illumina, signing off, and remember...MK Armageddon arrives October 7th!!!

Meh, Jill's seeding had been slipping steadily -- even with the company caps in 2k4, she was only a 14 seed. 2k5 was just a hard contest to make, especially with no rallying.

And losing to Hayabusa is really not that bad, especially if he was underrated in 2k4. If you consider what Hayabusa did in 2k5 and how he was significantly stronger despite being behind a potentially SFF'd Zero...that's big. Jill going 50/50 with the guy ain't shabby, and I'd be inclined to say she gets a comfortable win today. YAY VOTALS

I'm not saying Hyabusa is fodder or that Jill is weak. She's just meeting a character too strong for her.

Jill, a character not even mentioned since...well, RE3 I guess. She didn't get a mention in CV or RE4, I don't think. At least not a significant one...versus Peach, a character with SSBM exposure and her own game on the DS.

I just don't see Peach losing.

And to compare, check Hayabusa 2k5 against Chun-Li (the debated matchup for Peach). Thunder Thighs wins with a little over 52%, and that's not accounting for Zero being underrated. If Zero was at his 2k4 value, Hayabusa takes that match. And I'd take Jill to beat Hayabusa in a rematch.

That's a damn good argument for her competing with Peach...

Peach? Strong?

Let it be known that Peach has never and will NEVER come close to the likes of competing with Donkey Kong.

Let it be known that DK would still lose to Vivi, as he should. And by that logic, would struggle with Chun-Li.

Peach would *not* beat Chun-Li. All Jill needs to do is be stronger.

...Where did I say she would be strong? I said she would be too strong for Jill. There's a crucial difference.

Celes > The Boss

It's only worth a point, so I can't exactly say "one less bracket etc" but you get the point.

And yet, there's an argument for Jill being stronger that I just presented. Whether or not she can make it there is another story, but I could only see RE4 reinvigorating the series as a boon, not a detriment. Ada/Jade -- 45608

*shakes fist at Jade for breaking the 100k streak* Hopefully this new streak will continue through the rest of the contest, but IMO there's still Jo Dark/Cortana & Lara/Alyx to worry about. I think every other remaining match will break 100k without too much trouble.

Why would it matter if Hayabusa were underrated? He would've also underperformed against Jill in that case, so Jill would stay exactly where she is. Hayabusa would've destroyed Jill if he'd actually gotten a ninja pic.

Another argument for Jill over Peach is that fact that Jill Valentine beat Kirby with 53% back in 2K2. You could say that Jill didn't fall off the map that much, and that Peach isn't as strong as Kirby -ever- was.

Why would it matter if Hayabusa were underrated? He would've also underperformed against Jill in that case, so Jill would stay exactly where she is. Hayabusa would've destroyed Jill if he'd actually gotten a ninja pic.

Mac, me and others think Ryu Hayabusa was recognizable enough with his fully body picture against Jill. Not to mention I find it hard to believe that Jill would drop so much as to go from 40% on Squall to 38% on Sora in one year.

I can't fathom Leon being twice as strong as Jill.
