By the way, for those of you with tiebreakers lower than 70,000, you
had better hope your bracket is unique. We fell just short of 100K
yesterday, and we're doing pretty good with votals today as well. I
think these pre-contest pools are doing even better than the Series

You know, the final match *could* be close. 70,000 or so isn't suicide,
especially when you consider how deep in the school year the match will
take place and the fact that ZELDA in its FF match only garnered 80,000
votes or so. In the highest scoring poll ever mind you, which I don't

When it was revealed that the contest was going to be a split male/female Samus became the favorite to take the female side. She is the only female in the Noble 9 and is far away from losing to anybody outside of the Noble 9. Samus has one of the best contest history while, Nidoran F on the other hand has never been to a contest and is only here because of board rallying. Just looking at the contest history of both characters should be enough to tell you that this match isn’t going to be pretty. Samus is expected to crush Pikachu so to think at what she would do to Nidoran F, a random Pokemon that is found near the beginning of R/B/Y. It is somewhat expected for Samus to be pushing for 90%. For the question of whether she would or would not SFF is really hard. First this will be probably the only contest in where we will be seeing Nidoran F and second even if there was a way to tell there was SFF the amount of crushing Samus would be doing would make it look like there was barely any. Samus may have in the past had problems SFF all things Nintendo, but I think she could do it this time. Fans of both series would probably vote Samus instead of it being more or less 50/50 because Nidoran F is a random pokemon and unless the person had her in their team I don’t see them voting her over Samus. I think Samus will have no trouble breaking 90% in this match and from looking at the competition Nidoran F will be one of the lowest ranked characters, though not the lowest. No wonder she’s the favorite to win the female half. Nidoran F Game/Series Known From: Pokemon A part of me still can’t believe Nidoran F got into the Contest… Woo, first match of the Contest. What a match we have here too; one of the strongest females in the Contest facing off against a random Pokemon. Anyone who wants to bring up the Metroid/Pokemon poll to argue that Nidoran F has a chance should jump off a cliff now. Anyway, this match in a way represents the Contest. One on half, we have Nidoran F representing the female half. Worthless, weak, unecessary, uneeded, a joke to the Contest itself. On the other hand, there’s Samus representing the males. Strong, worth-watching, winners. Ahh, it’s just like society should be…. Moltar’s Bracket Says: Samus will win. Moltar’s Prediction is: Samus: 91% - Nidoran F: 9% Ulti’s Analysis I'm not even going to dignify this with a response. Joke entrant, joke match. All I'll say is that LUE and LL are both planning to proxy whore for Nidoran F, so it (I ain't calling it 'she') MAY break 15% here. Other than that, nothing of note other than yet another contest beginning with a Nintendo character. Snake would have been so much better here. Prediction: Samus with 85.01% HM’s Analysis It looks like the tradition of starting a contest off with a Nintendo character holds with Samus’s match against the joke of a Pokemon in Nidoran F. Unfortunately, Samus met her end last year against Mario in a rather brutal beating of SFF, at least for someone as strong as Samus. For whatever reason, Ms. Aran somehow fell out of favor with many people as she seems to be getting crazy statements ranging from “She’ll lose to Crono” to “Mega Man will rSFF her and win” – yes, both of those are crazy!! The lovely Ms. Aran’s opponent for this match is nothing more than a joke. It is a Pokemon who should clock in as infinitely weaker than Pikachu, who isn’t worth much more than 15% on Samus anyway. Samus should be able to put up some seriously impressive numbers by kicking some ass with over 92% of the vote. This contest should put her back into that position of someone who is taken for what she is – a beast of a contestant. Sephiroth in any future contest better count his days because Samus has a super missile with his name written all over it. Aitch Emm’s Bracket: Samus Aran Aitch Emm’s Prediction: Samus Aran – 93.3% ; Nidoran F – 6.7% Aitch Emm’s Vote: Samus Aran Yoblazer’s Analysis For the eighth time in eight contests, the overall top seed is a Nintendo entry. Samus joins the likes of Link, Mario, Bowser, and The Legend of Zelda as she leads the Big N's army into battle. She can rest easy for the time being, however, as her first true test won't be here for another... oh, two months or so. Her competition, Nidoran F, is a joke character to Board 8 and LUE only. The vast majority of voters won't see a laugh and a half; they'll see a standard Pokemon. Thus, they'll see someone they don't care about. Throw in Samus's scary legitimate strength and some SFF, and you have one ugly result in the making. My prediction: Samus def. Nidoran F (90-10) |

Lopen’s Analysis Nidoran F… that name is kinda funny. But still, I can't help but feel we're getting ripped off, here. Even in Pokemon there were many better characters to pick! With Pokemon GSC and beyond, male and female versions of nearly all Pokemon are allowed! Just imagine what we could have here instead… an Onix, or maybe a Graveler? Oh… oh… Caterpie! Alright, Caterpie seems pretty manly to me, but it doesn't matter too much, he'd appreciate a slot on either side I'm sure! … this match is stupid. Lopen's Prediction: Samus with 90.39% KH’s Analysis lol x-stats history Samus Aran Summer 2002 Contest Extrapolated Strength --- 4th Place [41.07%] Summer 2003 Contest Extrapolated Strength --- 7th Place [36.72%] Summer 2004 Contest Extrapolated Strength --- 4th Place [39.50%] Summer 2005 Contest Extrapolated Strength --- 5th Place [38.21%] Ah, Samus. How the mighty have fallen to being slightly less mighty than once thought. Gone from being the near-unanimous pick to win the main bracket and a super-sexy upset pick to break Clinkeroth, now she is...the near unanimous pick to win the main bracket. Board 8 don't like to change their ways it seems! Though it's not without reason. Though Mario trashed her in a match she was VASTLY favored in (on the board), the power of SFF makes those results questionable. And no, I don't just mean questionable on if she shouldn't have lost by that much -- I mean if she should have lost AT ALL! After all, many Mario supporters defended the idea of rSFF through and through for Mario's victory, and while that idea was jumped off of by most, the possibility still exists for Samus to be indirectly stronger than Mario. If this is true, it's bad for the main bracket, very bad. Crono lost to Mario by more in 2k5 than he won by in 2k4, and he got the closest to him out of anyone. And with Corruption probably being out by that match, it would seem that only another bad case of SFF could stop Samus from achieving her destiny... But more on that later! First she's got to get there, and her opponent IS: Nidoran F lol N/A Nidoran F is a Pokemon so bad and obscure that I don't even feel like taking up space writing about her. She's bloody useless, and only there for Pokedex purposes or to raise to get the better forms of Nidorina and Nidoqueen. That being said, she is from Pokemon, an entity that while having bad luck in the past, surprised last contest by coming very close to Metroid, which was supposed to be a mortal lock to the Elite Eight. Unfortunately Metroid got squashed by Zelda in a SFF massacre, which makes it hard to gauge. Fortunately for Nidoran F, she's facing a character from Metroid today! Unfortunately, it happens to be Samus. Yes, unfortunately, the contest powerhouse known as Nidoran F has yet
to be in a contest, and while lol x-stats professes to know the future
with unerring
accuracy, it doesn't know it unless it's already happened. No
questions, please. In any case, we do have an opponent from Nidoran F's
games that has been in a contest! Samus (2005c) VS Pikachu (2003c) Samus has a strength of 41.69. Pikachu has a strength of 10.99. Samus wins with 86.82% of the vote! A win of 66,209 with 89,911 total votes cast. ...ouch. Now, this is Pikachu, the most hated and reviled Pokemon out there (and my favorite *sniff*). And in his latest outing he happens to be behind both potential SFF from Fox/Pikachu and definite SFF of Link/Fox. So, he's definitely underrated. But even with all that, there's no way Pikachu is touching Samus from *that* margin. And even with Pikachu getting so much hate, recognition alone should give him a win against Nidoran F. X-Stats aside, Samus is not only the main character of a more popular series (albeit not by that much), she also has Super Smash Brothers to her name, a far better character design...against a random Pokemon whose most distinguishing trait is that she was the first Female Poke. Oh, and she appears in RBY, so she could probably beat many Pokemon from the later games. So, Nidoran F has no chance here...none. Zero. Wow, that was tough. I guess I should start talking about the percentages, and what Samus should be getting and stuff...but, eh. Looking at what she's projected to get on double SFF'd Pikachu -- whose X-Stat value I expect Nidoran to be weaker than -- if she gets less than 85% I'll call her losing in the Finals a lock, and Tifa/Zeris having a damn good shot at her. That's how utterly, utterly pathetic Nidoran F is, and against Nintendo her support should be completely sapped. The only thing stopping this from potentially happening are, 1.) It's Samus and 2.) She had a big joke rally from Board 8, LUE, and LUElinks. So she shouldn't be Jay Solano...but I wouldn't put it out of the question. Karma Hunter's Vote: Metroid is freaking awesome. Samus is a dull bore, and one of the few characters that I systematically vote against without anti-voting. I just prefer virtually ever other character to her. This isn't one of those times. Samus gets my vote against Whoever F. Karma Hunter's Krazy Prediktion: Samus Aran with 89.28% of the vote. 90% is hard to break, Samus may just miss. Or hit 98%, who knows. Upset Potential: 0.00000000000000000000000000002% The only reason this isn't 0% is because I refuse to give Samus 100% against a Nintendo character. Gotta hedge my bets! Also, if Nidoran F were to win it would basically have to mean that there was a glitch in the poll that stopped people from voting for Samus and Ceej gets drunk and misses it. outback's analysis is pure awesomeness. and on that note, Samus WILL be breaking 90%. i now understand why Ceej wouldn't allow Jay Solano in this contest. it's because Nidoran will do just as poorly, if not worse than Jay could have done. i will not be surprised a bit if Samus breaks 95% in this match, especially if there are more casual votes than last year. --- i have officially been Z1mZum'D in the guru contest.
