It isn't, but people are too dense to learn that. That wouldn't be making you dense >_< Don't see a Guru topic, and I won't be available later, so here's my bracket I disagree. Most people who are doing this don't read the stats topic enough to know or see us repeatedly emphasizing both how annoying and how unnecessary this is...so, I have no problem saying they're dense. Special cases for if they're not able to be around should be allowed (the the one I quoted above, for example), but there are far too many brackets doing this to be just people who won't be on Board 8 for several days in a row at such a coincidental timing. Next contest, if the Gurus don't have their own topic and are still in the CS&D topics, I'm not signing up. this is just ridiculous now, especially since we have more people than ever signing up for this. --- Damn, most of my dates involve mocking and/or beating up people like you and your bride-to-be, so I really have no advice --Horatio |

We wouldn't have THIS problem, no, but we would still have the huge
lists repeatedly posted and all the questions that surround it ("What's
the list for?" "Can I join?", etc.) -- a topic of its own that has an
easy FAQ at the very first post fixes this, and it's not like this is
some kind of private contest, so that's no problem either. --- Damn, most of my dates involve mocking and/or beating up people like you and your bride-to-be, so I really have no advice --Horatio |

Big ****in' deal...besides, compare their numbers right now: the BOP has 78 people, the Gurus has 163. Are the Gurus supposed to suddenly get so much less popular if it gets out of being a CS&D-only sort of thing? Then for your other point, the BOP's only purpose is to try to show the board's general feeling on the matches. The Gurus is a free-for-all bet that actively keeps up with individual brackets (and tie-breakers). You put nothing on the line in the BOP, you put your sig on the line in hopes of winning everybody's sig in the Gurus. In short: that's wrong. --- Z1mZum performed a hit and run on me in the Guru Contest. It still hurts to be rear-ended like that..... |

there only for odds, while you have a chance to win something in the

By getting this crap out of the stats topic and giving it its own topic, you're going to remove a lot of unnecessary garbage at the beginning of the contest. Whenever a new contest begins the bulk of that stats topic is nothing more than people posting this massive list and adding their name to it -- pointless. I'm not sure who's bright idea it was to confine this list to only the stats topic, but Ulti or whoever does it now needs to make a separate topic for sign-ups and another separate topic for posting the entry. Nothing remotely good comes from keeping this confined to the stats topic. It is annoying as hell to come into these topics and find these lists making up the bulk of the new messages when you think there was some actual, you know, discussion going on. Yeah given how many people get involved with the guru contest now,
keeping it in here is just a waste of space. It used to be a niche
