I doubt we could get 128 characters that weren't fodderific. We struggle to get 64. We don't need another Series Contest ever. I doubt Ceej would bring it back solely because it had a lot of votes. It was too predictable, and he knows it. The bracket sucked ass. It was seriously one of the worst brackets I've ever seen, and that includes board-made ones. Round 3 and onwards were predictable as hell, and it's not like the first two rounds were bulging with tightly debated matches. There were a few debated matches, but...not many. With a good bracket, the series contest could definitely redeem itself. Indeed, replacing the Chrono series with Shadow Hearts would make it a lot better already, and somebody mentioned that the bracket would become awesome if two of the series were swapped around. Can't remember who it was. But anyway, don't completely discount the BSE. At least it wasn't utterly and completely full of fodder like Spring 05. --- http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs9/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=22242738 Sign plz Hi-ho, Hi-ho, Z1m Zum, Z1m Zum...our guru champ. |

Curse my ignorance. Why exactly is it that Frog is deemed "overrated" in his 2004 stats in 2005? It seems more likely to me that Frog's 2005 matches were questionable. Mystical SFF from Samus makes more sense than random rSFF in Snake's match. On a somewhat related matter, I'm also trying to figure out whether Kairi stands a chance against Rikku. If you take Kairi over Claire, factoring in KH2, then isn't Kairi > Rikku a possibility? And what if Lenneth is helped by Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth? Could she go 45-55 with Rikku? O_o -=- You. WILL. And what if Lenneth is helped by Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth? Could she go 45-55 with Rikku? O_o Lenneth in no way shape or form will break 45% (or even 40% in that matter). She is just too much of a fodder. --- "I was trying to escape. Obviously, it didn't work." - President Bush |

Mystical SFF from Samus makes more sense than random rSFF in Snake's match. Oh no it doesn't. Everything about Frog seemed wrong in 2004. Liguid Snake being so high, Chief boosting as well. Also, I'd blame the sprites as more of a reason for Frog's overperformance (CT characters usually do better with sprites, while Snake's history with them...is not good.) Samus/Frog seems pretty legit to me, and along with Seph/Liquid (with some SFF) and MC/DK, it makes the trio look alot more reasonable. Of course, if you throw in Crono/MC, that screws everything up, so I'd take the results of that match with a grain of salt. And Kairi is nowhere near Rikku's level. If she gets past Claire, it'll be because of how fall she has fallen. Rikku would destroy either of them. And Lenneth will be even weaker than Kairi/Claire, so yeah... --- Moltar Status: Bracket filled and ready to go. 2006 is the year of Samus Aran |

The Best Series Ever contest wasn't so bad as much as it's entrants
were. It could have done so much better had it not had every single
cult RPG in existence in it! The contest wasn't really missing anything
strong besides Chrono maybe, but it still needed more variety. Ninja

I'm going to try now to create a decent series bracket, using (more or
less) the same seeding as the first one, along with introducing a few
newcomers. Um...wish me luck? Moorhsum Division 1 Super Mario Bros. 8 Tales of... 4 Half-Life 5 Perfect Dark 3 Castlevania 6 Mega Man X 2 Metroid 7 Street Fighter Ekans Division 1 Metal Gear Solid 8 Xenosaga 4 Sonic the Hedgehog 5 Mega Man 3 Pokemon 6 Warcraft 2 Super Smash Brothers 7 Chrono Ecrofirt Division 1 Legend of Zelda 8 Mortal Kombat 4 Dragon Quest 5 Diablo 3 Resident Evil 6 Mario RPG 2 Kingdom Hearts 7 Final Fantasy Tactics Amitlu Division 1 Final Fantasy 8 Ninja Gaiden 4 Mario Kart 5 Star Wars 3 Grand Theft Auto 6 Halo 2 Devil May Cry 7 Fire Emblem --- ...of course, it still suffers from being very predictable at parts, but a lot of that is due to being confined to 32 entrants and the fact that we have the Big Three...and even if you remove them a la Clinkeroth, then there's the Large Two (SSB, Chrono). After that I'd call it a crapshoot, though. ...although I'd like to see how a Battle Royale would work with Zelda, FF, Mario, SSB, Chrono, and Metal Gear/Sonic/Mega Man... --- Commit it to memory. |

Yes, but even if you have Crono and Samus for 1st and 2nd, and Link and
Cloud for 2nd-to-last and last, that still leaves the two middle parts
that are easy to mess-up. But, I virtually guarantee that this will get you 0 points: 1)Mario 2)Crono 3)Samus 4)Link 5)Cloud 6)Sephiroth --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

Although, to second guess myself... Chun Li (2005c) VS Ryu Hayabusa (2005c) Chun Li has a strength of 24.92. Ryu Hayabusa has a strength of 23.75. Chun Li wins with 52.35% of the vote! A win of 4,275 with 91,061 total votes cast. After any SFF in Mario/Zero, that could be a damn good match. interesting besides a couple cool upsets like Squall owning Luigi and
the like. *looks for other non-discussed matches that could be close* I doubt
most of these will be close, let alone allow the upset, but I'll just
mention them for the heck of it. Let's see.... Squall vs. Tidus...could be 55/45 if we're lucky. Kratos vs. Ryu...maybe Kratos to push past 45% now. Jill vs. Sheena - maybe. Claire/Kairi vs. Rikku...maybe. Snake vs. Squall - of course! Crono vs. Bowser - if Bowser continued boosting some he could scare Crono, maybe... Tifa vs. Peach - possibly... Sora vs. Mega Man - haha. If there's a match you think would be close that I didn't mention, I didn't list it because I HAVE heard it mentioned at least a couple times, or it's just obvious that it'll be close, anyway. --- "Ah, a party! Mario/Crono is always pretty epic, but even so, as the first two
matches of Mario/Crono had cheating, so did stuff like Vercetti/Kefka.
The only difference is, Vercetti/Kefka was a round 1 match between two
fodder characters, so it was no longer "respectable" when the cheaters
for it had been exposed. KHF was pretty lame other than Link losing one
match(and so what? Its not like it lead to a good final.) --- WWEGSB Hardcore Legend And Tag Champ Masa I jobbed to Z1mZum in the Guru Contest. Did you? |

Decent, but Magus being a new contender in the year of Squaresoft was enough to predict him winning that pack. I don't care if you predicted it correctly. The whole damn board had Frog > Liquid Snake and Frog > MC, that didn't stop those matches from being insanely close. The board got lucky, the people who picked Magus got lucky. And those matches were insanely close and entertaining either way you go. I figure the only indication was that one poll and Lueshi <_< And common wisdom. It was expected even before that poll (LUEshi is post-2k3, as you didn't know), and that was treated as confirmation. He finally fought a challenger that was a worth a damn, big whoop. Which was apparently enough to surprise over 50% of the bracketmakers. but Aeris doing so well was pretty predictable, No it wasn't. She got 43% on Snake the year before. There's a big difference between that and 47% on Sonic. If X-Stats mean anything to you, Sonic's expected to get 63% on Aeris by the 2k2 stats. Vercetti was destined to be totally worthless from the start, Nice try. I don't count your word worth a damn when it's after the fact. And it doesn't change the fact that he had a very exciting match with Donkey Kong. Pac-Man/Kefka was fodder, and thats about it. A 50-50 match that came completely out of left field, too. If X-Stats mean anything to you I'm not gonna say "lol x-stats" or anything, but they've been proven to have flaws plenty of times man. --- WWEGSB Hardcore Legend And Tag Champ Masa I jobbed to Z1mZum in the Guru Contest. Did you? |

I wasn't on the board before the villains contest, but I'd imagine
Summer 2004 being the most boring character contest. All those SFF
matches... The only things that contest had were Hayabusa/Jill and Frog's run. That's it. I'd imagine the Sora/Hayabusa match being unexciting after the "intial shock" of Sora winning. And the series contest > villains contest. Castlevania's run, SF/RE, and Mario/FF > everything that happened in the villains contest (yes, even Master Hand). --- Character Battle V Score - 0/0 points Current Prediction - Samus Aran vs. Nidoran F |
