Well, Samus kept her at 34% and he's since had KH2, not to mention I
can see Mega Man start to fall once this next generation comes into
play (not much, of course -- he's still a loved icon)...it would depend
on how Solid does in his matches until he gets to Mega Man. Anamoly and
KH2 or not, he doesn't want to do too much worse than Solid Snake did,
and I can't imagine Mega Man actually matching that performance last
year. --- Z1mZum performed a hit and run on me in the Guru Contest. It still hurts to be rear-ended like that..... |

Snake will surely increase this year, but I can't see him beating MM,
somehow. I don't know why, just a feeling. He'll probably break 46 or

Only 46%-47%? Going by last year, he nearly breaks 48%. I think Samus takes down the winner of the male bracket (Sonic) and
Megaman takes down Snake. I knew both matches were two years ago, but I
still can't see Solid Snake or Sonic coming back and win a rematch when

Meh, I still think Snake's performance on Mega Man in 2k4 was a fluke. Sure he was weaker that year, but not that much weaker! In terms of design, that's one of the best pictures ever. In terms of giving both characters an even footing, it sucks. For me, Crono's in the same boat as Link And it's likely the same for several people on GameFAQs, and look at how popular Link is. Chrono Trigger is popular enough to be the 3rd strongest game on GameFAQs. Link isn't as popular as he is because he's some amazing character. He gets votes because people here adore the Legend of Zelda series, and he's the guy you play as. I would imagine it's the same for Crono. He gets votes because he's the main character of Chrono Trigger. Character is irrelevant. Oh, and for me, I suppose Sonic/Ganondorf (if he beats Vincent, that is!!) is to me what Mario/Samus was to a lot of people last year. It's Sonic, man. The idea of Ganondorf beating him just...doesn't register with me. Yeah, that's horrible reasoning, but so was this same reasoning for picking Mario over Samus. Oh, and I missed the Luigi/Yoshi stuff in the last topic, but...The
whole "Yoshi did better than Luigi on Pac-Man so he's obviously
stronger!" doesn't really fly with me. For one thing, it's a "SFF"
match. The degree won't always be proportional. For another, Luigi
would have done better in 2005 on Pac-Man than he would have in 2004,

How anyone can say Samus didn't get SFFed that badly, I have no idea.
She drops 8% in the x-stats, and that's AFTER the amazing Nintendo
boost. Yeah, okay. Right now, this is how my Battle Royal looks. Link > Cloud > Seph > Crono > Mario > Samus The two things that have changed are Cloud > Seph as opposed to Seph > Cloud, and Crono > Mario instead of the other way around. Looking at that poll with Link, Cloud, Seph, and Mario just screams to me "PICK THE MALE WINNER YOU IDIOT LOLOLOLOLOL" the only way I see it playing out bad for me is if MM wins. I thought about how that might work. The best I could come up with
is to play out a final battle like normal, but after you make the final
hit, switch to a cutscene where the two finish the fight, along with
some dialogue. Thinking something like the Spaceworld 2001 demo where
Ganon and Link fought, except Ganon ultimately ends up winning. << Or Zelda comes out of nowhere and you control her to kill Ganon for reals. LOL ZELDAFAQS OH MAN ZELDA/GANON FINAL BOOK IT. --- Explicit Content Cheer Up Angsty Mermaids. |

...This has probably been brought up already, but... The PS3 launch date (and thus, release of Sonic the Hedgehog on 360 and PS3) is November 17th, yes? I think that this is day 2 of the battle royale. So presuming Samus is knocked out first...we might see something crazy from Sonic? And a basic rule of analysis is that you want to trust the logic of the person who predicted most accurately. I like how you think, mainly because it allows me to throw "There was no way Samus wasn't going to get her ass SFFd to hell and back by Mario" around some more. As for the BR, I have Link > Cloud > Sephy > Mario > Crono > Samus. The one part of this I'm struggling with is Mario vs Crono. Nintendo SFF is far more severe than Square SFF. The only thing holding me back from having Crono 4th is that there will be three Square characters in the poll at that point, as opposed to only two for Nintendo. ~*ST*~ --- Winner of the Spring 2004 "Best. Plus Crono was on a Nintendo system. DOUBLE THE SFF OH LAWD. Seriously
though, I have Crono > Mario and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I
just can't see Mario having as many die-hards that would vote him over
anyone like Crono, especially when you throw Link into the mix. Plus I

think. I doubt Samus would ever break 35% on Link again, but Mario

Not bad reasoning by any means, but I think Crono has too much going against him: 1. Mario is legitimately stronger. This will obviously help in any poll. 2. Mario will have one Nintendo character to contend with. Crono will have two Square characters to contend with. Not only will Crono have to hold his own against Cloud, Sephiroth, and maybe even Link, but he'll have to hope for Nintendo SFF of the highest magnitude. |
