Hmm. I'm not really interested myself, but it'd be sorta cool to have
some sort of competition thing to see who gets on the crew, especially
with all this interest in it. Maybe some thing where last contest's
Guru winner, the prophet winner, and the oracle winner replace the
three who were the lowest last time around? Especially with all the
interest in it, there should be something vaguely unbiased to choose

Maybe some thing where last contest's Guru winner, the prophet
winner, and the oracle winner replace the three who were the lowest
last time around? Only if the champion has the right to decline. I'm not all that sure I'd like to join the crew, since I'm not all that good at analysis. Not that I'm expecting to do nearly as well this Prophet go-round. Anyway, more Fact or Fiction? (I put the question mark, but I'm going to post it anyway.) FACT OR FICTION: Nidoran F gets a higher percentage on Samus than Yuri did. FACT OR FICTION: We don't see a seeding upset until the men's half of the bracket. FACT OR FICTION: Of the three Valentines in the bracket, Jill gets the highest vote total in Round 1. FACT OR FICTION: Celes and Terra both get their Amano art in Round 1. FACT OR FICTION: Alyx scores better than 40.00% on Lara. FACT OR FICTION: Roll gets a picture from a non-Classic incarnation. (i.e. .exe or Caskett) FACT OR FICTION: At some point in the contest, Mega Man gets a non-Classic picture. FACT OR FICTION: CATS gets the highest % of all the 8 seeds. Another reason to take Sub Zero over MC is because of MK Armageddon
coming out 3 days before his match. It's supposed to be another good MK

FICTION: We don't see a seeding upset until the men's half of the bracket. I have Claire and Celes winning their matches, so let us hope so. FACT: Of the three Valentines in the bracket, Jill gets the highest vote total in Round 1. Unless the female side is on par with 2k2 in terms of votals, this is pretty clear. FICTION: Celes and Terra both get their Amano art in Round 1. Celes has easy FMV shots, unlike Terra, and Terra got FMV'd last year. FICTION: Alyx scores better than 40.00% on Lara. Funny as it would be, I think Half-Life is going to break two longstanding trends this contest. FICTION: Roll gets a picture from a non-Classic incarnation. (i.e. .exe or Caskett) Ceej seems insistent on using only Classic pictures for Mega Man; I don't see why Roll would be any different. FICTION: If Gordon Freeman wins his first match, we don't see him in SC2K7. Freeman is somehow popular enough with the nominators to always get a good seed. He'll be back in a field of 64. FICTION: A member of the Noble Nine loses to a non-Noble. *does Ganondorf's Melee chant* FICTION: The closest match in the entire contest doesn't involve any of the Noble Nine. Only because Crono/Mega Man/Samus/Sonic/Ganondorf could all be close. FACT: Tifa and Aeris wind up within 1% of each other in the non-adjusted XStats. Depends is Samus can SFF Zelda...which I'm not really buying (TP?). Aerith/Tifa should be reasonably close in strength in any case. FACT: At least one of the top ten brackets eligible for prizes will come from Canada, and Ceej will mention that fact. Crazy Canadians. Assuming Crono and Samus make it, Samus will probably leech enough Nintendo votes to put Mario in a close 5th, behind Crono. I can see nidoran F taking the early lead for the first few minutes. Then samus crushes nidoran with 88% --- 190/192 points in sc2004, winner team oracle challenge Z1mzum owned me this spring |

So, does anyone think Ganon vs. Vincent could set the record for
highest first round vote totals ever? Ganon vs. Tidus had it
originally, and I definitely see the first round of 2k6 doing better

Anyway, we should be looking at Advent Children. I know it's a movie
and all, but that didn't stop it from beating Kingdom Hearts II (and I)
in their respective polls. That's right. Over 55% of the site has
watched AC by now, compared to around 45% for the KHs (barring slight
evolutions since the polls were taken, of course). Kingdom Hearts has shown to boost some characters pretty highly. And if you like to think that that's because influx rather than actual appearances in the game, then you have to give Vincent a full KH2 boost, which should also be more than enough to give him the win over Ganondorf. This is old as I'm catching up, and I'm sure other people commented on this, too, but as someone who's repeatedly not excited by the effect of Advent Children, it still is not a game. It already appeared to a fanbase that supported Final Fantasy VII. Aside from the valid argument that it rallied the FFVII fans and made them vote more, I don't see Advent Children as attracting new fans to a game/series in the same way Kingdom Hearts did. Sorry if this is old, but, I just don't think an AC to KH comparison is valid. --- Revenge is a dish best served by Z1mZum in the 2k6 Series Guru Contest. |

I'd guess that Cloud, Seph, and Tifa would be the characters to receive
the most notable AC boosts. We saw AC boost Sephy quite substantially
from the VC to SC2k5, and it was enough to keep Cloud constant. Tifa's
fight scene is the best part of the whole movie, and is enough to
upgrade my opinion of her from "mediocre" to "ok". She's definitely
cooler in that scene than she is at any point in the game. --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

FACT: Nidoran F gets a higher percentage on Samus than Yuri did. If only just, though..... FACT: We don't see a seeding upset until the men's half of the bracket. Though there's some viable upsets there..... FICTION: Of the three Valentines in the bracket, Jill gets the highest vote total in Round 1. I'll say false and give it to Vincent. FICTION: Celes and Terra both get their Amano art in Round 1. Nah, 3D like Terra did last time. FOOLED: Alyx scores better than 40.00% on Lara. I don't know who Alyx is! FICTION: Roll gets a picture from a non-Classic incarnation. (i.e. .exe or Caskett) Don't care though. FACT: At some point in the contest, Mega Man gets a non-Classic picture. If only just an eye-shot. FACT: CATS gets the highest % of all the 8 seeds. Captain Falcon should, and Tingle has a VVEERRYY long shot to...but I wouldn't count on that one. FICTION: If Gordon Freeman wins his first match, we don't see him in SC2K7. People WILL nominate him alot less though. FICTION: A member of the Noble Nine loses to a non-Noble. If this is true, KH2/DoC had to do WONDERS for Squall/Vincent against Solid/Sonic. FICTION: The closest match in the entire contest doesn't involve any of the Noble Nine. Food for thought. If Crono wins the male side of the bracket and then
proceeds to bomb in the battle royale, who here would entertain the
possibility of him being SFF'd by Cloud/Sephiroth. We really don't know
how Crono would fare against them, and seeing how the BOTH of them will

I think the Crew would be better if it wasn't so unified.. when you
take the best the stats topic has to offer, there's usually a lot of
similar thought processes. I'd be curious to see people that don't ever

They don't have to be idiots, but the propensity to be misinformed is
sky-high. I've seen otherwise very, VERY smart individuals think things
like Cloud/Sephiroth having won all (yes, ALL) of the character
contests, judging a character's strength through huge SFF matches, or
any number of really bad assumptions. That stuff can be cleared up 99%
of the time, but then you're just shaping them to the consensus of the

yeah, I agree. I actually considered not coming in here for the entire
bracketmaking period just to see what kind of weird deviations I would
end up with. I even made a bracket based on my initial thoughts so I

HaRRich - OK Lopen - OK And Tran brings up an interesting point. Usually when a non-Stats topic person does these write-ups, they usually have a good number of picks that...seem crazy, but actually end up pretty good. Happened with Cena and Soul. Of course, you guys hated Vlado and Inviso, so it's not always true. I'd consider Outback in the middle. crew, and I think I would've gotten 6 or so matches. Then again, one of
those was Warcraft/GTA, which IIRC the whole crew foolishly picked GTA
