So, you think Ganon can beat every male, without SFF in the case of
Crono, Sonic, and Snake, but you can't take Zelda in a potential rSFF
matchup? If Ganon takes Sonic, he can potentially take Crono and Mega Man without needing too much more to win some tight matches. Joanna Dark has had Perfect Dark Zero within the past year (for
whatever that is worth) and the addition of any potential Nintendo fan
votes she may receive in the match thanks to Perfect Dark. She may be

YoAriel: The only Nintendo character Samus had faced prior to 2005 was Link, and she held up better than Mario. Mario was coming off a down year; Samus was coming off a great one. Yes, Mario got the SFF and made the match look like a no-brainer, but it certainly wasn't that way from the start. Yeah...this is really a "duh" thing. Calling Mario>Samus 'obvious' a priori is dumb, no offense ;) And I still think Final Fantasy X might've been stronger than SSBM at the time with a more neutral pic (say, some Auron action), so that's right out as an obvious Final Four. Also there's the obvious fact that "obvious" means "obvious" - if it ain't obvious, it ain't obvious. Although it has no place in the stats topic, I'd like to point out in
my Mock 2K6 earlier this year that Auron killed Crono en route to
winning the contest. >_> ...I still have Crono winning that match, mind you. --- Damned Z1mZum, beating me by one point. I'm gonna be pissed if Toadette makes 2k6 and Mewtwo doesn't. |

...people are debating Celes vs The Boss? Celes is my favorite
character in FF6, and I'd practically slap the Ulti Guarandamntee™ on
The Boss winning that. This isn't Ocelot/Pacman we're talking about.
The Boss is beloved by the MGS fanbase, while Ocelot only matters at
the tail end of each game. She's responsible for arguably the most
touching moment in the history of gaming. I've beaten MGS3 twice, and
cried during the ending both times. I'm sure it'll happen again when I
replay the game. The Boss is awesome, and I didn't even like MGS3. The problem is MGS3's lack of popularity, even on GameFAQs, compared to the rest of the series. Sure, people HERE love it, but not so much on the front page. Ocelot would destroy The Boss, to my great dismay. --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

Cortana isn't worth jack **** though. Thats my whole reasoning of her
not winning. Joanna Dark is a main character, while Cortana is just
some dumb chick who talks to you while your shooting up Covenent and
watching sum cutscenes. Shes the epitome of a side character, even if
she could qualify as a "sidekick" in her role. I'm not saying shes bad,
her dialogue is actually pretty decent, but theres not much of a reason

The fact that Samus guaranteed to her ass SFFd to hell and back.
This isn't even open for debate, and I don't get why yet another
argument has begun about it. lol, X-Stats. What the hell? Putting those that took Samus as lol x-stats is really getting tired. You don't even have to use the x-stats to have justify Samus/Mario. Mario hadn't really done anything in the contest to prove the strength he had in 2k5. Samus had just come off a monster 2k4 year (getting more on Cloud than Mario got on Sephiroth the year before). Plus Link himself didn't appear to SFF Samus much. Those that picked Samus were fully justified. A lot of people who took Mario admitted they did it just off of their gut feeling. The Ganon that would do it would be post-TP, Triforce o' Power induced Ganon, not the Ganon we have known up until this point. But the entire thing was that Ganon winning the male side or whatever isn't nearly the same as Zelda overcoming Samus. Giving the edge to The Boss makes sense, because you can't have much
faith in Celes. But, I can't put much faith in a female MGS supporting
character either. Ocelot is decent, and Big Boss is a weakling. There's some space there for Celes to challenge The Boss. I wouldn't be too surprised to see an upset there. I had trouble with that match as well, but I figured that since Cortana
doesn't really do anything, all she does is talk and even if it has
some interesting points I just don't see it being enough to give her

Mac, this is one case where we'd actually WANT CJayC to use the Amano art for Celes, eh? Oh, and now suddenly I'm seeing talk in favor of Celes again...hm...should I change my pick back? Ah, and NOW people start mentioning they're taking Cortana. But, looking at the pictures...I'm not so sure if I want to do that myself. Sadly you are wright about that. Phoenix Wright didn't sell enough or
advertise enough to get into the public eye, and Half-Life did, meaning
