true true, but Golden Sun didn't even share a console with Metroid and
the games are nothing alike. there's not much of a reason for there to

If you assume Samus is overrated enough to drop below Mario in the 2k4
stats, Crono still has a chance even if she did get a boost. Now, as
mnm said, I don't think Mario is *quite* that low, but he's probably
not stronger than Crono's 2k4 value, and I'll give that as his ceiling.
Then give Samus the Nintendo boost...but I wouldn't put it to the
extreme that Mario himself got, so you've got some breathing room in
there. Throw in random variation, and Samus/Crono is a tossup. It's not like the opposite isn't possible, obviously. Samus could have been stronger than Mario in 2k3 if she was significantly SFF'd by Link, could have been legitimately stronger in 2k4, and SFF'd to all hell in 2k5. But if she maintains that same proportion with Mario in 2k5 as she did in 2k4, then you've got to give her a shot at Sephiroth. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle, as usual. --- Commit it to memory. |

either way, I don't even think of GS as a Nintendo game. do others? I know I always have, but I may be in the minority. People don't usually think of Mega Man as Nintendo, for what it's worth...but we know what happened there. --- Commit it to memory. |

well, that's a little different - Mega Man was one of the big
franchises on the NES. if you put, say, a third party Genesis game vs.

I wouldn't know what to expect...but then again, I'm not sure what to
expect what would happen if Sonic faced characters from his own

Sonic's an oddball with SFF? The only two chances he's had of SFF has

Like I said, it's a real stretch, but IMO it's silly to think Samus didn't boost in 2k5. I don't think it's silly to think she didn't, but I think the evidence is there that she did at least a little (Assuming there was no SFF against Ganondorf). People tend to believe that Sephiroth didn't just drop in 2K4 and back in 2K5, but was SFFed by Cloud, correct? If that's true, Auron MUST be around 32% on BL (29-30% on Link 2K5), unless you think there was rSFF or something. Then, aftering factoring Ganondorf's victory over Auron that places Ganondorf at about 35% (which fits perfectly with Ganon/Diablo in Sp2K5, by the way). Extrapolated through Ganondorf/Samus and Samus is about 43.2%, a whole percent higher than the previous year! =P There's fun use of x-stats for ya... Mega Man got more SFF on Yoshi than Link did, after all (and debatably gets more than Mario could get). Depends on your definition of how you measure SFF. But, if predict Mega Man/Yoshi based on Yoshi's and Mega Man's matches against Link in 2K4, Mega Man's supposed to win with 72%. Mega Man probably shuold've gotten around 59% instead of 68%, while Yoshi should've gotten around 25% instead of 18% against Mega Man...putting it that way, due to being difficult to turn a blowout into an even bigger blowout, Yoshi still suffered more SFF against Link. But, it all depends on your definition, as you could say that major Link/Yoshi SFF was more expected in the first place simply because it would've been a blowout before SFF. --- "Ah, a party! I'm curious about Sonic with SFF, as well...I can't comment on Sonic's
ability to SFF his own buddies, but Sonic 2 was almost surely SFFed by
Super Mario World. Would Mario SFF Sonic? Keep in mind SFF apparently
had no effect in Samus/Sonic, and most likely the same with Sonic/Mega
Man. Shadow fluked out 45% against Mario, too. I'd guess Mario/Sonic would be rather normal, and the only reason Mario games destroy Sonic games is because...er, the games are more similar than the characters are. Maybe. Oh, and if SMB/Sonic the Hedgehog occured in the series contest I would've taken SMB with around 75%. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" The trouble with Yoshi in 2k5 is that he certainly
boosted, the way I see it. Unless you think Luigi would beat Yoshi now
(or that Yoshi > Luigi is rSFF), Luigi's value is his FLOOR, and I'd
raise him up significantly higher than that. So Mega Man doing that well against a *much* stronger Yoshi is monstrously impressive to me. --- Commit it to memory. |

I still think Sonic would have a decent chance of overperforming on
Mario, because of the whole rivalry thing, and because while Sonic's
games are generally accepted to be worse than Mario's, he's more loved
for his character design than Mario is. Also, Mario/Shadow seems to

MP3:C will have little to no effect on Samus. We've seen enough
evidence that proves that Samus's strength comes more from SSB than her
own games. Uh, doesn't this mean that MP3 will have an even bigger effect? If her games are so weak, every new one will give her a larger boost than it would to other characters, and Samus has never had a launch game before. But last I heard it won't make the launch...and even if it did, I certainly wouldn't expect *that* much of a boost. A lot of people have been turned off to the Prime series because of MP2, and then you've got to factor the Metroid series not being that popular in the first place. You're underestimating the power of being a launch game. Thanks to being a launch game, Luigi's Mansion sold over 2 million copies. MP3 will sell far better than MP2, and likely better than MP1. And where's this info about an MP3 delay coming from? I haven't heard anything about it, except in this topic. The trouble with Yoshi in 2k5 is that he certainly boosted, the way I see it. Unless you think Luigi would beat Yoshi now (or that Yoshi > Luigi is rSFF), Luigi's value is his FLOOR, and I'd raise him up significantly higher than that. Sora getting a one seed was not shocking at all, especially after seeing Kirby and MC getting one seeds. Well, that was in the 8x8 format, with a male half this time around the competion was a lot sterner with only four one seeds up for grabs -- and five Noble Niners left. Sora didn't surprise me.. new and exciting game, boards love KH2, etc
etc. I realize that those three or four lines in Ceej's post are all we
have to work with, but I really wouldn't draw anything from them.

Hey, nice name. Well, for some reason NGamer uses it to tally my data anyway so I just make it easier on him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Super Mario Galaxies was rumoured to be a launch title as well? As of right now, it's completely unknown when it will launch. Crono has deserved it since 2002, and it's LONG overdue. Damn right. I really do hope hes just a little stronger this year though. His loss against Mario last year made me really sad. I couldn't bear picking Mario over Crono, and almost never can >_> I love both characters and their games to death, but CT is still my alltime favorite. I am surprised that Sora got it so early, though. I'm kind of disappointed by it. You can make a case for Kirby getting it, as hes got some quality games out there and has been around the industry for a good while now. Master Chief, well, that and Halo put the FPS genre back on the map and were the Goldeneye of this generation IMO, no matter what your preference on the two games is. But Sora? Come on, the KH fanbase basically worships glorified versions of Sqaresoft and Disney characters that have already been around for several years, and Sora merely gets the benefits of having a kickass supporting cast in his games.
