Looks like the earliest we'll get a bracket is tomorrow, the 21st.
Even if we get a comparatively short prediction time (say, three
weeks), the contest still won't start until mid-September at the
earliest. Seeing as how this will likely be the longest contest we've
ever had, both the Wii and PS3 will surely be available during the last
few matches, if not sooner. We've never had a contest take place during
such a huge period for the gaming industry; it has me very excited. Yeah; although most people seemed upset about the contest starting so late, I'm glad that it will overlap the console releases. The only reason to avoid that was to see if Cloud could beat Link before TP, but after the series contest that seems pretty unlikely, so instead we may as well see as big of a shake-up as possible. 1) Snake 8) Tingle 4) Vincent Valentine 5) Riku 3) Dante 6) Donkey Kong 2) Kirby 7) Phoenix Wright Snake/Vincent and Kirby/Dante should be great matches and it would be nice to see if DK was overrated. 1) Sora 8) Soma Cruz 4) Luigi 5) Knuckles 3) Ganondorf 6) Magus 2) Bowser 7) Nightmare We don't need to see Ganondorf/Magus, we all know Ganondorf has grown stronger over the past few years. Besides that the rest of the division looks great. 1) Crono 8) CATS 4) Leon Kennedy 5) Gordon Freeman 3) Squall 6) Tidus 2) Master Chief 7) Vivi As has already been said we've already seen Leon/Freeman. The bottom 4-pack is a great set of matches. 1) Sonic 8) Captain Falcon 4) Yoshi 5) Ryu 3) Auron 6) Zero 2) Mega Man 7) Fox McCloud Auron/Zero is a great match and this time I think Sonic might have the strength to beat Mega Man. 1) Samus 8) Ivy 4) Kasumi 5) Colette Brunell 3) Aeris 6) Ada Wong 2) Chun-Li 7) Presea Combatir ToS will crash and burn and I think Aeris should be on the other half of the bracket with Zelda and Tifa. 1) Yuna 8) Roll 4) Yuffie 5) Amy Rose 3) Terra 6) Sheena Fujibayashi 2) Peach 7) Marina Liteyears Terra/Sheena was a hard match to predict, but besides that Yuffie should take the division. 1) Tifa 8) Nidoran F 4) Ms. Pac-Man 5) Kazooie 3) Claire Redfield 6) Hitomi 2) Jill Valentine 7) Saria I belived that Ms. Pac-Man was heavily SFF by Mega Man back in 2k2. There was a severe o_O reaction from me when I saw that Burning Crusade
was an option on the poll. Why not include Gears of War to satisfy 360

If anything, I've seen more Tifa > Zelda picks. Me too. And up until the Spring Contest, I would have done the same. A lot of it depends on when the Zelda/Final Fantasy VII female
representative match takes place. Unless we have a very short
prediction time, it's all but guaranteed that Twilight Princess will be
released sometime during the contest. If Zelda and Tifa/Aeris are
scheduled to meet in the Elite 8 or something, I'd give the clear edge

The spring contest isn't much of an indicator for the character contest, I'd say. SMB coming closer to FF than Mario did to Sephiroth just proves how very different the contests were (unless you are expecting some insane Nintendo boosts, which would a) be totally uncalled for, and b) make Tifa-Zelda hardly debatable). For Tifa - Zelda, I'd just use past contest data. We've got perfectly accurate ratings on them from last year, which predict Tifa losing with 49.8%. Add to that AC and KH2 as opposed to nothing (or SMB influx, but DoC influx surpasses that right now), and I've got Tifa taking it rather comfortably. --- Land charred black, rivers boiled. Crops and wells alike despoiled. Mountains levelled, forests felled. Footprints of the beasts of Kjeld. |

FACT OR FICTION: If Mario vs. Link happened again today, Mario would rSFF Link a bit. Ignoring x-stats and using raw matches in 2K5 I think I'd take Zelda over Tifa, but FF7 has had quite a bit of spotlight this year, so I think I'll take Tifa, anyway...even a few days before Twilight Princess, though, I'd go with Zelda. but Jigglypuff is probably weaker than Pikachu... But, I'm tempted to say that he's not. SSBM factor minus the hate that Pikachu has. I dare say it...Jigglypuff may be close to the fodder line. Maybe I'm getting too hopeful. --- "Ah, a party!
