Cloud would have probably beaten Mario with around 55% without SMG Meant SMS here. And for the record, I've only come up with two scenarios on how we're going to get a different champ one of these days. 1.) Cloud > Link thanks to his KH2/AC whatnot (or maybe he just gets really lucky if that's not enough), then Mario does the Sunshine v. 2.0 with SMS (and will likely need a legitimate boost as well to get up there). 2.) Link > Cloud (as usual), but when Link faces Sephiroth in the next round it happens to be on the day release of the FFVII remake. --- Commit it to memory. |

I'm really interested to see how Seph performs this contest... I have
no ideas in my head of him actually winning anything, but it'll be
interesting to see if the size of the role in KH really matters or not. --- Explicit Content I have been thoroughly owned by Z1mZum. Cheer me up. Cheer Up Emo Kids - Team Tranny Did! |

Hey all, just got back from being away for a week. I came back, checked
for the bracket (I was actually (admittedly somewhat nerdly) excited)
and it's not up yet? Hmph. Anything exciting happen since last sunday?
I know I can catch up by reading, and might later, but is there
anything worth saying now? --- Revenge is a dish best served by Z1mZum in the 2k6 Series Guru Contest. |

I know I shouldn't be putting any stock in the Top 10 FAQS, but is
anyone else noticing that DoC hasn't even been able to beat Dead Rising
in the top slot? I mean, DoC had way more hype and all it takes is a
little push to catapult FFVII into the Top 10; it makes me think that
the game might not help out Vincent that much after all. Isn't Dead Rising just running around a mall killing zombies with a chainsaw? I'm not denying that's fun or anything, but do you really need an FAQ for it or anything? --- Z1mZum totally owned me in the July 2006 Guru Contest The Funky Chickens in Trivia XVIII |

I haven't seen much on Dead Rising other than reading a small bit about
it in EGM during E3. I know it has been heavily advertised and praised
by a number of different people, but I'm not sure how FAQ-heavy the
game may be. Then again, New Super Mario Bros. doesn't seem like a FAQ
heavy game either and it shot up on the top FAQ listing too. As for DoC, I began to doubt its effect purely because of the critics blasting the American version more than I had anticipated. I'd like to see CJayC run a poll asking if people have purchased the game or enjoyed it or something though. I figure that will help shed some light on how its sitting with GameFAQs visitors. --- “I haven’t invested as much time into any game as I have [Twilight Princess].” – Shigeru Miyamoto |

about it in EGM during E3. I know it has been heavily advertised and
praised by a number of different people, but I'm not sure how FAQ-heavy
the game may be. It lends itself to FAQs in the sense that there is a lot of stuff that might be difficult to find. I could see weapon location guides being very useful. Other than that, I'm sure some people would benefit from walkthroughs on how to beat certain bosses, but as far as figuring out where to go next, it's never an issue as you can always throw an arrow at the top of the screen that points you in the direction you need to go to get to a mission. --- "An intellectual is a man who takes more words than necessary to tell more than he knows." What's so sick about a GCN port and SMG at launch? Now if MP3:C wasn't pushed back, I'd agree with you. But looking at it now, Nintendo's gonna have to pray that people don't notice that Zelda is gonna be available on GCN. That's not impressive. And, damn, Nintendo has to try to make Metroid more appealing to the
casuals. After all, I was one of the 19 people who bought MP2. If MP3:C
will have more action like they promise, they should fill a couple
commercials with that action. With Red Steel not looking so impressive,
MP3:C may very well make or break first-person shooting on the Wii. --- Wind Waker was as easy as a drunken hooker, I'll give you that. - ugly man ~Jacksonville Jaguars~ |

Corruption may have been pushed back a bit the last I had
heard. I always thought, "Hey, that's a great idea. This must mean that
Miyamoto was able to get Mario at launch!!" but I suppose that's just being crazy. Wii still have a very nice line-up -- far better than the GCN. The fact that Zelda is there at launch is pretty much all they need to have a successful holiday season. It will carry the game until Nintendo's main star prepares for his Wii debut, which is hopefully not far after launch. And, in the long run, it is best to spread your big titles out over the course of a year. Nintendo releasing a big game every month for that first year is what is needed, as well as Mario ASAP. --- “I haven’t invested as much time into any game as I have [Twilight Princess].” – Shigeru Miyamoto |

I care about...zero of the games you just mentioned. And yet almost every single one of them is likely to be a very high quality title. Just because you, for whatever reason, find none of those appealing doesn't mean the launch is weak. Meteos came to the rescue? I expect there to be no more than 3 "great"
games on Wii by Christmas. There will be growing pains... I can understand what you're saying with "new technology." Judging from E3, Corruption and Mario Galaxy made the best use of the new technology, but neither may make it for the launch (if word is to be believed about Corruption seeing a slight delay). Still, there are games, specifically Trauma Center, which should make excellent use of the Wii-mote. It won't take long until you start seeing some very nice use of the Wii's capabilities, especially since it is far more prominent than the DS's touch screen. --- “I haven’t invested as much time into any game as I have [Twilight Princess].” – Shigeru Miyamoto |

Red Steel can still be good too, right? Why no Red Steel love? Everything I read about it after it was first announced killed my excitement. The AI seems to suck, the game seems like it's going to be very straightforward despite trying to be "open," and the swordplay is apparently going to do stupid things like have you draw a design to execute combos instead of just letting you seamlessly execute combos. --- "An intellectual is a man who takes more words than necessary to tell more than he knows." Ubisoft has apparently taken a lot of the criticism they got from E3
and began to fix the problems with Red Steel. Only time will tell if
it'll still be a great game though. It got destroyed by critics after E3, so we'll see. if we get a comparatively short prediction time (say, three weeks), the
contest still won't start until mid-September at the earliest. Seeing
as how this will likely be the longest contest we've ever had, both the
Wii and PS3 will surely be available during the last few matches, if
not sooner. We've never had a contest take place during such a huge
period for the gaming industry; it has me very excited. --- The Summer 2006 Guru Contest: Where Z1mZum kicked my ass. |
