I never Peach was popular, but to say no one likes her is silly. Everyone knows who she is and I see few people outright say they hate her. Indifference is what people think of regarding Peach more than anything else.

I don't care if you don't like fodder, seeing Neo Tanner should be well worth nominating him, and that's that.

Maybe if the field wasn't limited to 32 males, but I don't want to see Knuckles the Echidna snubbed for this crap.

And it's odd that Peach has all of these "advantages" over Donkey Kong, and yet people are hesitant to take her. Says a lot, I think. If you think Zelda is nearly as popular as she is just because the series is "The Legend of Zelda," I'd have to say that's a bit ridiculous. Princess Peach is just as recognizable of a figure, to the point where it doesn't matter if the series is named after her, and nobody thinks she'll be anything more than perhaps a low midcarder.

Why? Because, for the most part, she's just...there.

Very few people actually like Peach. There is very, very few reasons to actually like someone who is just the chick you save at the end of the game. She is more annoying than anything else, and no role in a Mario spin-off is going to get her notable strength of any kind. There's nothing incorrect about saying that few people like Peach.

I don't think anyone would say that her problem is being hated. It's more of a "I don't care about Peach" kind of thing that is likely the cast with a vast majority of people.

No, people DO hate Lloyd as a character, though perhaps that's canceled out by being a favorite to use in battle. Either way, he's not terribly likable.

Yeah, that's what I think Peach will end up like. Someone who can survive a match against fodder, but will get blown away by anyone with strength, like many have said.

I can see Celes being on par with Terra, or at worst, a bit weaker. Hell, I can see most of FFVI's playable cast being at Terra's level.

Peach over Chun-Li is totally insane, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind if I picked Chunners and wound up wrong.

Oh Leon, while you're here. Street Fighter Alpha 1. Can you unlock Dan/Akuma/Bison for good, or are they just selectable via button combos period? And do you ever actually fight Bison as a boss? I've just been fighting 8 characters, then it's game over.

Can you unlock Dan/Akuma/Bison for good, or are they just selectable via button combos period? And do you ever actually fight Bison as a boss?

I think there's a way to select them for good, but I don't recall.

And certain characters have Bison as a boss: Charle, Chun-Li, Rose, and Akuma, for sure. I think Guy, too.

I think Celes would be stronger than Terra, myself. It wouldn't be anything dramatic, but I don't think she'd be weaker at all.

I always thought it was Link's picture in LTTP/FFVI that led to user-made pictures. I actually really liked Celes' picture.

I'd be fairly confident that Terra is more popular than Celes. Visually, I don't think one has an advantage over the other, and the story really revolves around Terra much more than Celes, especially in the World of Balance which is the most popular part of the game. Not that it means anything, but Celes couldn't even beat Terra in the Favorite FFVI character poll (http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=847).

I just don't see Celes as being a big fan favorite off this board, and Terra's importance to the storyline would be enough to set her apart from Celes which in a game with a cast like FFVI, is what you would need.

Those were all the arguments used to say that Terra could be popular in the first place. Didn't quite pan out. Being important isn't as...important as being likable. Besides, the second half of the game is a lot of Celes. She's one of the few characters you have to get, if we want to talk about importance.

Just because Terra isn't as popular as some people thought she would be, doesn't mean she's still more popular than some characters

I wouldn't say Celes is substantially more likable than Terra if she's even considered more likeable overall. The plot of the World of Ruin may have a lot of Celes,* but the plot of the World of Balance has a lot of Terra and that's the more popular half. And while you don't have to get Terra, she shows up at the end regardless. And in regards to importance, Terra is generally accepted as the main character.

*Despite FFVI being my second favorite game of all time, I never finished it, so forgive my ignorance if I get parts wrong.

Terra and Celes are generally regarded as sharing the lead role, from my experience, though if it came down to just one, the nod would probably go to Terra. However, being the main character in FFVI isn't that big of a deal because none of the characters are required to be used apart from a few scenes here and there.
