Peach will get a large support from the Mario fanbase as a whole. Peach
may not be able to blow out Chun-Li, but I'd take Peach in that match

Come to think of it, that doesn't mean too much, Janus. She'll still
leach enough off Mario, and get enough from SSBM to beat Chun Li, who I

Don't get me wrong, I don't expect much out of peach and I hate to play
Devils Advocate but to Peach's defense, that poll isn't the best thing

Zelda broke 45% against Snake. Are you telling me that's all Sheik,
or is Zelda that much more important to her games than Peach is to
Super Mario? That's exactly what I'm saying, actually. If Zelda was never Sheik and was always the "damsel in distress" cliche, I doubt she does anything of worth. There's just not very much that's likable about that. And believe it or not, that's why people vote for characters, in the end. Just look at Terra. "Wow, the main character of FF6, she'll outdo Kefka and threaten Dante!". Boom, 70-30, Dante kills her. But even that Sheik deal aside, I say Zelda does more for Link than Peach does for Mario, just because Zelda only really has three recurring characters to like. Mario has like 3000. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Zelda's even higher tier than Peach in SSBM, no? --- Z1mZum whooped me so bad in the Guru Contest that the next Lopen wannabe is gonna feel it. |

I think the thing with Peach is that a fair amount of Nintendo fans
hate her guts. Nobody hates Zelda. They're just meh or generally like
her. I would still take Peach over Wario but I have no idea against

You are aware that Wario isn't really 24%, right? Fully aware. I've said it from the beginning: I expect nothing from Peach. Nothing. And there's taking SSBM into consideration, and then there's taking it over everything just because it's SSBM. It seems to me like some people are getting into the latter. Well, do you think Game and Watch would be worth anything in a contest?
He IS in SSBM. Pikachu is in SSBM and he's not worth anything. How

Wario had Wario Land and he still got doubled by Shadow. It was character who looks similar to the main character of the series SFF. ;>_> That's all Wario had to draw from is Wario Land (And Wario's Woods...). Peach seems to be a full on Nintendo version of Pac-Man to me. She will probably do well against characters that lack strength or name recognition, but fall apart against anyone reasonably well known. --- RIP Eddie Guerrero 1967-2005 Z1mZum made me look like Shadow Hearts in the Guru contest. |

The problem with Peach compared to Zelda is that the games she appears
in aren't called "The Legend of Peach." Honestly, SSBM alone doesn't
give Zelda 45% on Snake. Neither do her actual roles in the game, which

Yes, Peach could fit in between, but I don't think she'd even make a match with Yuna or Rikku. And Zelda is a very different scenario than Peach. As KH said, it's not just SSBM that put Zelda at 45% on Snake. Honestly, if she had never been Sheik, I can't think of her being much of anything. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=840 Two reasons for Bison still doing good, yet sucking on that poll. 1. Half the bloody cast is tied with him. He's not on a "tier of suck of his own", it's just that the selection is so large. 2. Bison is the only character that gets "the boss thing" going on. No matter who your favorite character is, you always see Bison. Always. Chun Li? She means nothing to the game if you don't use her. But Bison? Bison's different. Yeah, you're probably only going to like the characters you use more than him, but then you'll like him, beause he's an awesome villain, and you see him every game. I think Bison's probably pretty consistently like the... say... fourth favorite SF character of the people. That means he has no chance in a poll like that, but that he's still pretty popular. Of course you can turn around and say that about Peach, but I don't think that's the case, and there's no real reason for it, either. --- Z1mZum whooped me so bad in the Guru Contest that the next Lopen wannabe is gonna feel it. |

The "Shadow doubled Wario" argument doesn't hold up too well if you ask
me. I know that x-stats aren't the most reliable thing ever, but if you
use Ngamer's site to extrapolate 2k3 Wario vs. 2k4 Shadow, look at how
weak Shadow is now. Wario's only gotten stronger, plus SSBB. If that
match happened again today, Wario would fare MUCH better, and maybe
even beat Shadow. Shadow's disappointment for a game didn't exactly
help him. Also, Shadow is a character from Sonic. Noble nine Sonic.
Chun Li is a secondary character in a game where it's most popular
character isn't a noble nine character and got beat by another secondary Mario character by a good amount. --- 4th Place of the Fall 2005 10-Year Anniversary Contest |

I don't think Zelda gets THAT much more votes because her name's
Zelda.. I find it hard to believe that she did that well against Snake

I think she ranks better if she faces Chunners than Yuna or Rikku, but I think she could still make a match of it. I'm very hard pressed to believe Peach is worth less than 21% at worst, though. game, which are terrible. It's that her name is Zelda. Actually, I may have been mistaken earlier. Objectively, Zelda had a terrific role in Ocarina of Time. She had more screen time and lines of dialogue than Ganondorf, and was even the focal point of the game's big spoiler. She was also top-tier in Super Smash Bros. Melee. These are Nintendo's two biggest games of the past 10-15 years, and Zelda has ruled in both. Peach... yeah. Rikku would win more of TJF, which would play a role regarding people who don't care about FF or their characters... but Yuna is more popular overall. Would anyone take Rikku over Yuna? It's an interesting match , I think. I'm actually thinking about that one now... Rikku ranked slightly higher (adjusted), but... Is 44 on Ryu better than 38 on Ganondorf (Don't think so) and Yuna is the main female lead in both of the FFX games. Also, I don't think we'd ever see a Yuna/Rikku match. Ceej doesn't
really try to make a big SFF match like that... especially from the
