I really don't know why so many people are wasting nominations on Samus/Zelda/Tifa. They're guaranteed to get in.

I really don't know why so many people are wasting nominations on Midgar Zolom/Nidoran F. They're guaranteed not to get in.

Either way, I nominated Tifa because she's one of my favorite characters. What other reason do I need?

All of the Series numbers and pictures are now in place, so with a few clicks you, too can easily produce stats like

Diablo (2006s) VS Warcraft (2006s)

Diablo has a strength of 16.21.
Warcraft has a strength of 20.39.

Warcraft wins with 60.25% of the vote!
A win of 25,916 with 126,419 total votes cast.

In the end I decided to adjust by setting SSB equal to Melee. It turns Zelda and Mario into unstoppable monsters, but makes more sense than the low low numbers we were seeing for pretty much everything else (MM, MGS, Sonic, Diablo, SF the series was going to end under SFII itself, etc all) under the FF=FF7 system.

Important X-Stats question!

As you'll remember, earlier this year we choose to adjust the stats for lolx to reflect the fact that Final Fantasy 7 was the most dominant force these Contests had ever seen. Since 2005 Link had just put up 54.56% on Base Link, we adjusted by making FF7 equal to 55.00% on BL. With Zelda having just taken down the FF series, it's clear that it needs to end up higher than FF7 alone. But how much higher?

I said it before, I'm not going anywhere near trying to compare series to characters. It's an entirely different spectrum. The Zelda series would probably kill Link indirectly. Same for mostly any other series except for maybe Metroid. I'd personally take a series anytime over its characters. I know it's just for fun, but I don't even think it's worth a look!

i completely agree. comparing characters to series or games is completely pointless. unless you're just doing it purely for laughs (see Gordon Freeman vs. Castlevania). i even question the validity of comparing individual games to entire series.

Honestly, you'd only take Samus > Metroid? After the way it looked this month I wouldn't hesitate to take Snake > MGS, and MM and Sonic wouldn't be out of the question either. It seems they benefit from a "coolness" or "mascot" factor, something the games themselves can't match.

And I'd argue that there IS sometimes a cause to compare a game against a character. Pre-contest there were plenty of people trying to justify Mega Man finishing ahead of Sonic (for instance), based on how the characters had performed last Summer. In a case like that, you ought to be able to make a judgement on character-game comparative strengths, in order to justify your pick.
