Personally, a part of me is also worried about Nintendo dominance, but
my worry manifests itself in the midcard. We know Link will always be
the favorite for the Character Contests and that Zelda/Final Fantasy
will duke it out for all the other ones, but what about the lower
ranks? Last year, Nintendo was scary. It seemed that any character wearing the big N on their sleeve was bulked up or something. Interesting fact: In the Summer 2005 Contest, four Nintendo characters lost in non-SFF matches. All four of them managed to break 45%. Their opponents? Master Chief, Tifa, and Solid Snake twice. Those aren't chump opponents, folks. That is some serious company strength. For now, I'm remaining hopeful that KHII will end up making this contest more unpredictable and exciting in the middle rounds, but it definitely has its work cut out for it. --- The Summer 2006 Guru Contest: Where Z1mZum kicked my ass. |

Imagine if the predictions for this match had come true, and FF were
now winning with 55%. Can you even comprehend how much more
disappointed everyone would be? People whining about this outcome are
more annoying than the whiners in pretty much any other match, because
most of those whiners weren't smart in the first place. Here we have
intelligent people acting like 5-year-olds because they're not getting
what they want. Sure those other whiners were annoying...but these
people are just pathetic. --- Pity for the guilty is treason to the innocent. |

Master Chief seems like someone that can never get big wins. While he'll never get blown out since he has so many die hard fans that will vote him no matter whose he's against. He just doesn't have enough to even beat a mid-card. |

There are already quite a few characters whose losses I don't trust --
it runs the gamut from Vincent to Kirby. Master Chief falls into that
'100% chance I would take tons of characters that are below him over
him'. Yeah, Chief has blown out Crash, let Felix break 47% on him, and
his only meaningful win is a squeaker against Donkey Kong...with his other meaningful match being even with Frog. Chief is a chump to me until he can pull off a win against someone that matters. --- Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. (Auron losing to Cloud, losing to Sephiroth, losing to Ganondorf) Of course the last one would be hard to predict if we already knew that Magus was overrated (But he shall return and own all overrated Nintendo/FF characters!</fanboyism) in the stats when we predicted the 2005 bracket. --- Tails would nominate you for the next character contest if he could. I honestly think that any match that was 45-55 or closer has a chance
to turnaround the next year, for no real reason whatsoever. Just by
random voting fluctuation. So if we had Ganondorf/Auron again, you bet
I'd struggle with it. Ganon's looking to be the favorite, but Auron did
have a reason to gain popularity, and the match was fairly close to

Every JRPG has a "terrible" story, "clichéd" characters, and a "menu-driven snorefest" for a battle system. WRPG fans, for the most part, have some damn good arguments to back themselves up. I'll never tire of reading posts from FourthDeus, even if I don't agree. Uh... nothing against rhythm games at all. Not my cup of tea, but I don't dislike them or anything. Phed: Way to prove my points. Graphic whores aren't bad people, but putting graphics ahead of everything else is moronic. People of this gaming generation dismiss great games all the time because of graphics, and never give older games (most of which blow away everything from today) a decent chance. Master Chief hasn't really had a viable chance for an upset in a while,
though. He might be a chump, but I think he needs to face more than
Crono to prove it. There's enough characters between Donkey Kong and

Haha it really must suck for the FF perfects though. You come through

yeah this is the one place that Square lovers congregate. ExTha has been pretty "fanboyish" today, no doubt. I don't. Then again, I took Samus over Seph in 2005, so wheeeeee. But indirectly, I still think Samus is a hair above Mario, so Crono wouldn't be much of a problem. "contest" meaning all contests, yeah. I think it's safe to say that
nobody has a shot at Link anymore. the only chance is an FF7 remake. games are the one spot where FF was thought to reign supreme and it's getting beaten today. how long will it be until FF7 loses its #1 spot on this site? probably a good while, but when that happens Zelda is the undisputed king.
