Sure, we laugh about it now, but if Street Fighter had won the complaints would have never stopped... I'd still be rejoicing. And I don't think finding 32 decent females would be as bad as trying to find 32 decent villains. Honestly, when you place limitations on what kind of characters get in, unless you limit it to "heroes," you're going to have a hard time finding 32 decent characters of the same lot. 32 sidekicks? Well, regardless of the odds, I'm going to keep believing in FF to win
this thing. Though the better LoZ does, the better Civ does, I really

No you see in those three Snake matches and in the SF/RE atleast one side was pretty well recognizable. The match pic didnt hurt Snake in the MG/FE because both sides were so awful. --- --NL-- Where am I? |

For what it's worth, Final Fantasy dropped off by like 75 votes from its last update. --- Some stories can't be told by words. Some legends are meant to die. Knowing your enemy is the quickest path to victory. |

The Legend of Zelda has its largest lead of the match. At this time
yesterday, Final Fantasy had already been pounding Mario's percentage
down for a good 90 minutes. Not only is Zelda keeping FF's vaunted
afternoon vote from taking off, it's keeping it from even revving up. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

eh, I'm not too disappointed in Zelda winning this. I like it better
than FF, and if FF would have won, yay for my bracket. so it feels like

I just don't see how anyone who enjoys these contests can possibly
enjoy what we've come to.... no more exciting finals... no different

Well, it's not Zelda dominating that bothers me. It's just that the shift has made the Nintendo/Square rivalry...one-sided. You know what Square/Nintendo matches Square won LAST year? Sonic fans dropped out of my top five awhile ago. 1 - World of Warcraft/MMO players 2 - Nintendo fans 3 - Fighting game fans 4 - "Jock" gamers 5 - Asians Honorable Mention - Sonic fans WoW players is self-explanatory. Not only has the popularity of such a bad game completely ruined Blizzard (D3, SC2 and WC4 will probably all be terrible), but these people don't care. MMO players in general are the blight of gaming given that they're so obsessed with their escapist realities, but they don't even care. They put a black mark on the entire gaming community with their cyberaddiction. Nintendo fans should also be self-explanatory. I'm going to start calling them goombas. Goombas in Mario games march to their master's tune, never thinking for themselves and never bothering to stop and wonder if what they're doing is worth much of anything. At least Koopas see the edge of a cliff and go "WHOA, not for me buddy". And that's a Nintendo fan. No matter what Nintendo does, these people think it's the Second Coming regardless of what it is. Board 8 is famous for this mentality. Any topic praising Sony or Microsoft will turn into a flamewar, yet such topic for Nintendo turns into an orgy. Quality of anything is meaningless to a Nintendo fan, and this place is full of them. The Gamecube was a failure compared to the PS2 and Xbox. Fact. Move on with life. A few good games does not compare to the failure that is the GCN's horrid third party support. Not that it matters, because Nintendo has so many stand-alone ignorant fans that they'll constantly be 11-15 billion dollars in the black. And this comes from a guy who has loved Nintendo since the launch of Mario 1. I'm a Nintendo fan that cannot stand my brethren. They never give anything else a chance and automatically assume that all thing non-Nintendo will suck. Not totally related, but the true colors of these people came out when it was announced that Resident Evil 4 would also go to the Playstation 2. Fighting game fans: "This character can use a jump lead -> xx -> QCF -> LK -> xx QCF, QCF FP combo that's unavoidable! Why didn't you use it?" Me: "Apparently you know so much about this game that I don't even need to bother playing it." *leaves* A lot of people whine about how SSBM elitists are horrible. All SSBM did was take an existing mentality from a full-of-itself fanbase and bring it into the mainstream. We as gamers haven't had to deal with it since Street Fighter 2 (because no one outside the hardcore fighting fanbase cares about any fighters between SF2 and SSBM), but it's always been there. "Jock Gamers". These are the casual graphics-above-all-else gamers that allow companies like EA and Rockstar to profit, because the companies that their best game and release one clone of it after the other, knowing full well that it will sell. It's arguably the biggest thing wrong with the industry right now. Grand Theft Auto is not a groundbreaking series, and it got what it deserved this contest. I would have been dancing if it weren't for WoW fans getting what they wanted. Halo is not the best FPS ever, nor is it the most revolutionary. It doesn't even have the best graphics. Asians aren't actually all bad. Far from it. My complaint comes with
the elitist otaku variety. As if Asians getting most good games months
before America wasn't bad enough (essentially allowing them to know
everything about the games before us), the bad apples like to rub it in
our faces. It's kind of difficult to explain said bad apple unless
you've experienced it yourself; however, is it wrong of me to feel just
a little offended when I play Starcraft and I'm hearing how Babe Ruth
should be booted? HM to Sonic fans, because there are still people in the fanbase that think Sonic was more influential to Mario. They buy the 3D games like candy, allowing Sega to think that stuff like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes was actually good. 2D Sonic has no peer in the series, Mario owns everything in the series regardless, and it's wonderful irony that Sonic essentially is a Nintendo character these days. no more exciting finals... This is the most exciting final we've ever had. no different finishes... it's just Link, and Zelda winning every time... I just don't see how you people can possibly like that. Only 20% of the BOP brackets had Zelda winning. Whether or not Zelda came in as the favorite based on the last four days of the contest doesn't change the fact that, compared to the expectations of the board's overwhelming majority, this is a different finish. --- Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your WOOOOOOOOORLD!!! |

if I stick with my initial bracket, I end up with -2 - SH/FE and
GTA/WC. I had everything else correct before I started tinkering with

been a Nintendo fan from the beginning. I'm complaining that Nintendo
dominance makes the contests more boring. Honestly, unless it's
something blatantly obvious or it's Squall, I'll probably side with

yeah it's cool, yoblazer. I understand, especially after our marathon
chat last night where we outnumbered you. I wouldn't get mad at a

Indeed. I just want another contest where Square can compete outside of
Final Fantasy VII. And it's not even that Square lost those matches
against Nintendo; it's just that more often than not, it wasn't even close. I have no real problem with Nintendo's one-sidedness... just Zelda
being at the top. I'd be pretty happy if Mario, Pokémon or Metroid was
